And there is Bob of Boston, sigh of Hello.

Although Letty is not a compulsive buyer, if you're selling that for a song, Bob, I'll take it sight unseen.

Wonderful, WA2K. We have our Bob and dj back again with Floyd in pink; David in Billy dolls, and in the shadows, Tom Waits. <smile>

Just a brief respite after which, I'll return and be a snitch:

Rented a Val Kilmer movie tonight. .................................back when it's over, listeners.

"La, la, la, la, la, la--Yes time."

I'm Sorry - The Platters

I'm sorry for the things I've done
I know that I'm the foolish one
Now that I see who's to blame
I?m so ashamed, I'm sorry

I'm sorry for the things I've said
Just like a child I lost my head
I should have known from the start
I'd break your heart, I?m sorry

Please be kind and I know you'll find
It's so easy to forgive
Darling, wait for it's not too late
Give our love a chance to live

I know the heartaches you've been through
I know for I've had heartaches, too
There's nothing more I can do
But say to you I'm sorry

Please be kind and I know you'll find
It's so easy to forgive
Darling, wait for it's not too late
Give our love a chance to live, oh live

I know the heartaches you've been through
I know for I've had heartaches, too
There?s nothing more I can do
But say to you----I'm sorry

Actually I've been up in Nahant for three days. Solveig my ex told me of an animal she's seen. As she described it the word pine marten flashed in my mind. I printed out a picture and she immediately said that's it. I had never seen one but knew it was a member of the weasel family larger than a weasel but smaller than a fisher. Later that day my daughter (and Solveig's) dropped by and she said she had seen it the previous year walking down the causeway leading to Nahant. This answered another question as people were theorizing it may have been a pet that was dropped off there. The next day I saw it three times.

American Marten
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
American Marten
American Marten
Scientific classification
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
Class: Mammalia
Order: Carnivora
Family: Mustelidae
Genus: Martes
Species: americana
Binomial name
Martes americana
(Turton, 1806)

The American Marten, Martes americana, is a North American marten sometimes also called the Pine Marten, even though it is a separate species from the European Pine Marten. Some sources believe that the population found in the western United States should be considered a distinct species, Martes caurina.

It lives in mature coniferous or mixed forests in Alaska, Canada, the northern United States and south through the Rocky Mountains. These animals were once more wide-spread, but trapping and destruction of forest habitat has reduced their numbers. They are much more abundant than the larger fisher. The Newfoundland subspecies of this animal is considered to be endangered.

They have a long slender body covered in glossy brownish fur with a lighter coloured throat, a long bushy tail and a pointed snout. Their claws are semi-retractable like those of cats which aids them in climbing trees.

These animals eat small rodents and mammals, fish and frogs, also fruit and berries in summer. They are most active at night, early morning and late afternoon.

Mating occurs during the summer, but implantation of the fertilized egg is delayed and 1 to 5 young "kits" are born the following spring in a den in a hollow tree or rock cavity.

From Golden Age radio, The Stan Freberg Show.

Freberg: Well, it's great to be with you tonight. We have a -

Tweedly: Pardon me Mr. Freberg, my name is Mr. Tweedly.

Freberg: Well, we all have our problems.

Tweedly: I'm the censor from the Citizens Radio Committee and uh, I feel -

Freberg: You are from the Citizens Radio Committee?

Tweedly: Exactly what I said, yes. And I -

Freberg: And what is your purpose in being here.

Tweedly: I must OK all the material used on your program here, and I think the best method is to just sit back here and interrupt when I feel it's necessary.

Freberg: You mean you plan to stop me every time I do something YOU think is wrong?

Tweedly: Exactly, I'll just sound my little horn like this, <HONK!> and then you stop and I'll tell you what's wrong.

Freberg: Somehow I can tell this is going to be one of those days.

Tweedly: You just go right ahead Mr. Freberg don't mind me.

Freberg: Yeah, Now I'd like to sing... <HONK!>

Tweedly: You forgot to say "Thank You" Mr. Freberg, Politeness is essential in radio programming. Your program goes into the home, we must be a good influence on children.

Freberg: I see uh... that's a nice little horn you have there, thanks very much Mr. Tweedly.

Tweedly: You're welcome I'm sure

Freberg: I'd like to sing a old river song in honor of National Mississippi River Boat Paddle Wheel week Mr. May if you please.

Tweedly: Very Polite Mr. Freberg.

Freberg: Old Man Riv <HONK!> All right tweedly, politeness I dig, but what in the world is wrong with "Old Man River"?

Tweedly: The word "old" has a connotation some of the more elderly folks find distasteful. I would suggest you make the substitution please.

Freberg: I suppose you insist?

Tweedly: Precisely.

Freberg: OK, music <HONK>

Tweedly: You forgot to say "Thank you".

Freberg: Thank you, Mr. Tweedly.

Tweedly: You're quite welcome I'm sure.

Freberg: Elderly Man River, that Elderly Man River, he must know somethin' but he don't say nothin <HONK!> All right hold it fellas, Now what Tweedly?

Tweedly: The word "something" you left off the "g".

Freberg: But that's authentic, "somethin', somethin'," that's the way people talk down there.

Tweedly: I'm sorry, the home is a classroom Mr. Freberg.

Freberg: I know you said that.

Tweedly: Keep in mind the tiny tots. And further more, think back. You'll recall you said, "but he don't say nothin", That was in quote. Now really Mr. Freberg, that's a double negative. do you mean "he does say something"?

Freberg: No I just wasn't using my head I guess.

Tweedly: I mean, after all, it should be grammatically correct. keeping in mind the tiny tots, you probably mean "he doesn't say anything".

Freberg: I-I-I I suppose I mean that, I guess, all right fine, you win, OKBilly, music... <HONK!> Thank you! thank you.

Tweedly: You're welcome I'm sure

Freberg: Elderly Man River, that Elderly Man River, he must know something but he doesn't say anything he just keeps rollin', rolling, he just keeps rolling along.

He don't <HONK!> doesn't plant taters, potatoes, he doesn't plant cotton and them, these, those, that plants them are soon forgotten, but Elderly Man River, he just keeps rolling along...

Tweedly: Excellent

Freberg: "You and me,

<HONK>

Freberg: The tiny tots again was it?

Tweedly: Exactly.

Freberg: Sorry about that, here we go.

You and I, we sweat <HONK!> perspire and strain... bodies all achin' and racked with pain...

well, we got by that one

Tote that barge! Lift that bale! You get a little...

Take your finger off the button now, Mr. Tweedly. We know when we're licked.

Well, that concludes "Elderly Man River." Now turning to the sports page here... <HONK> Oh yes, and thank you for being with us Mr. Tweedly.

Tweedly: You're welcome I'm sure.

I never cared much for moonlit skies

Never winked back at fireflies

But now that the stars are in your eyes

I'm beginnin' to see the light.

I never went in for afterglow

Or candlelight on the mistletoe
But now when you turn the lamp down low

I'm beginnin' to see the light.

I used to ramble through the park

Shadow boxing in the dark

Then you came and caused a spark

That's a four alarm fire, now!

I never made love by lantern shine

I never saw rainbows in my wine

But now that your lips are burnin' mine

I'm beginnin' to see the light.

I never cared much for moonlit skies

I never winked back at fireflies

But now that the stars are in your eyes

I'm beginnin' to see the light.

And I never went in for afterglow

Or candlelight on the mistletoe

But now when ya turn the lamp down low

I'm beginnin' to see the light.

You know I used to ramble through the park

Shadow boxin' in the dark

Then you came and lit that spark

That's a four alarm fire, now!

I never made love by lantern shine

Never saw rainbows in my wine

But now that your lips are burnin' mine

I'm beginnin' …

Ummmm, to see the light.

Words and music by hank williams, sr.

If the [d] wife and I are fussin', brother that's our right
'cause me and that sweet woman's got a license to fight [d7]
Why don't you [g7] mind your own business
(mind [d] your own business)
'cause if mind [a7] your business, then you won't be mindin' [d] mine.

Oh, the woman on our party line's the nosiest thing
She picks up her receiver when she knows it's my ring
Why don't you mind your own business
(mind your own business)
Well, if mind your business, then you won't be mindin' mine.

If my woman stay out 'til two or three
Now, brother that's my headache, don't you worry 'bout me.
Just mind your own business
(mind your own business)
If mind your business, then you won't be mindin' mine.

If I get my head beat black and blue
Now that's my wife and my stove wood too
Just mind your own business
(mind your own business)
If mind your business, then you won't be mindin' mine.

I got a little gal that wears her hair up high,
The boys all whistel when she walks bye.
Mind your own buisness blah blah, you sure won't be minding mine.

Mindin' other people's business seems to be high-toned
I got all that I can do just to mind my own
Why don't you mind your own business
(mind your own business)
If you mind your own business, you'll stay busy all the time.

Before I go to bed, I wanted to get back to McTag's game of name the song from the lyric snippet.

The last clue was: "To hate all the people your relatives hate."

Youve Got To Be Carefully Taught

You've got to be taught
To hate and fear,
You've got to be taught
From year to year,
It's got to be drummed
In your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a diff'rent shade,
You've got to be carefully taught.

You've got to be taught before it's too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate,
You've got to be carefully taught!

All Song Lyrics for Soundtrack South Pacific

My clue is: "your time has come to shine"

Your time has come to shine - Paul Simon

When you're weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
I'm on your side. when times get rough
And friends just can't be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
When you're down and out,
When you're on the street,
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you.
I'll take your part.
When darkness comes
And pains is all around,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.

Sail on silvergirl,
Sail on by.
Your time has come to shine.
All your dreams are on their way.
See how they shine.
If you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind.

She once was a true love of mine

That's the clue. Maybe I'm violating rules, but there are two songs with that line I'm thinking of.

Good morning, WA2K radio.

Thanks to everyone here, we have kept the format in tact and the idea of our broadcast alive and functioning.

edgar, I think that Stan Freberg is possibly one of the funniest and most creative men that I have ever heard or seen.

For Bob, dj, Diane, and McTag. Musical games and such have always been a wonderful past time, and encompass so much of my life. Play away, listeners. Unfortunately, I must pay a visit (and I mean PAY) to the doctor today and consider many options.

From Letty with love.

Gosh that's not too difficult for a "child of the 60s", which I'm not, but never mind.

I'm aware there's a whole world of music recorded since 1975 but I'm in blissful ignorance of most of it!

Scarborough Fair, an English folk song brought up-to-date by the old-established firm of Messrs Simon & Garfunkel.

Words and interesting stuff are here:

my next line is

"In llama-land there's a one-man band"

TRUE LOVE
(Cole Porter)

"True Love" earned Grace Kelly (later "Princess Grace of Monaco") her first and only gold record. It earned Bing his 21st. The song was taken from the movie High Society, which starred Bing, Grace, Frank Sinatra and Louis Armstrong. Bing and Grace recorded their duet Jan. 22, 1956, with the Johnny Green MGM Orchestra. The disc hit the charts in October, where it remained for 22 weeks, reaching as high as No. 3. The soundtrack album for High Society, which included Bing and Grace's recording, also went gold.

Suntanned
Windblown
Honeymooners at last alone.
Feeling far above par.
Oh, how lucky we are!
While I give to you
And you give to me,
True love, true love.
So on and on
It'll always be,
True love, true love.
For you and I
Have a guardian angel
On high, with nothin' to do.
But to give to you
And to give to me,
Love forever true.

For you and I
Have a guardian angel
On high, with nothing to do.
But to give to you
And to give to me,
Love forever true.
Love forever true.

This Nearly Was Mine

One dream in my heart,
One love to be livin' for,
One love to be livin' for
This nearly was mine.

One girl for my dream,
One partner in paradise,
This promise of paradise
This nearly was mine.

Close to my heart she came
Only to fly away,
Only to fly as day flies from moonlight
Now, now I'm alone,
Still dreamin' of paradise,
Still sayin' that paradise
Once nearly was mine.

I'll keep rememberin' kisses
From lips I've never owned,
And all that lovely adventures
That we have never known.

One dream in my heart,
One love to be livin' for,
One love to be livin' for
This nearly was mine.

Close to my heart she came
Only to fly away,
Only to fly as day flies from moonlight.

Now, now I'm alone,
Still a-dreamin' of paradise,
Still sayin' that paradise
Once nearly was mine!

Gentle On My Mind (Hartford)

Glenn Campbell

Its knowing that your door is always open
And your path is free to walk
That makes me tend to leave my sleeping bag
Rolled up and stashed behind your couch
And its knowing I'm not shackled by forgotten words and bonds
And the ink stains that have dried upon some line
That keeps you on the backroads
By the rivers of my memory
It keeps you ever gentle on my mind

It's not clinging to the rocks and ivy
Planted On their columns now that binds me
Or something that somebody said
Because they thought we fit together walking
Its just knowing that the world will not be cursing or forgiving
When I walk along some railroad track and find
That you're moving on the backroads
By the rivers of my memory
And for hours you're just gentle on my mind

Through the wheat fields and the clotheslines
And the junkyards and the highways come between us
And some other woman crying to her mother
Cause she turned and I was gone
I still might run in silence
Tears of joy might stain my face
And a summer sun might burn me till I'm blind
But not to where I cannot see you
Walking on the backroads
By the rivers flowing gentle on my mind

The shutters creak and autumn winds
That Make me draw inside myself in silence
Cross-legged now I sit and watch
The endless chase of leaves across my yard
And laying down my hairbrush
I lean back within my window seat and find
That you're moving on the backroads
By the rivers of my memory
Ever smiling ever gentle on my mind

Through cupped hands 'round a tin can
I pretend I hold you to my breast and find
That you're waving from the backroads
By the rivers of my memory
Ever smilin' ever gentle on my mind
