Good morning, WA2K folks.
edgar, loved that song by John Wesley Harding. Thanks, Texas.
Mooseman, that was a fascinating mini biography of Ernest Hemingway. I never realized all the significant highlights of his life. How he survived as long as he did amazes me.
Brit, Never heard Ian Dury, and for some reason, Reasons to be Cheerful would not play for me. UhOh!
Freddy Mercury's duet was awesome and replete with lyrics in English
Ah, Steely Dan in Manassas, Virginia. Loved that one,
Well, folks, I was fascinated with some of the aspects of the Hemingway video, so I searched out some of the performers. Edith Piaff's song I recognized, but the Frenchman who sang was not familiar to me. I did find a poem by him, however.
(The century we live in is a rotten century.
Nothing but cowardice and baseness.
The greatest murderers attend the greatest masses
And are the greatest favourites of the greatest kings.
Homage from the author to those who understood him,
And **** for the others.)
Not too cheerful, was he.
And an English version of the little sparrow's song.
