Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

My two favorites by the dys were Haydn and Lucky Man. Thanks, cowboy.

Hey, Brit. I listened to that electronic bass, buddy, and I will have to admit that James Jamerson had great entonation. I still prefer acoustic instruments, however. Wow! Sidney Eagles was awesome, and I loved the line "flying with the thermals." I haven't seen an osprey nor a sea gull in a long time. Strange, that.

Well, y'all, today is Lionel Richie's birthday, and I love this one by him.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, It is amazing to me that Fats is still with us, especially after Katrina. Love him, Texas and the one you played is great.

In checking out acoustic guitars, I found this one, y'all.

@edgarblythe,
Wow! edgar, I had no idea that there WAS a buzzard song from Porgy and Bess, nor did I know that DuBois Heywood wrote a book, Porgy, upon which Gershwin based his music. Amazing, Texas. Miles, of course, was great as usual.

I always like Nat's jazz period when he was with The King Cole trio, y'all. So speaking of buzzards.

Nat does that one so well, as he does m0st every song. I came across this story about Clayton Moore that I thought was neat.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, that was hilarious. I'm surprised the offender didn't say, "Who was that masked man?" I can't verify it, but I think there really was a lone ranger. I recall as a kid reading about the legend and remember this one thing. "...he cut and made a mask from his dead brother's vest..."

Which reminds me of William Tell. He is also shrouded in mystery, but in Switzerland there is a statue of him and his son.

http://www.doubledeckerbuses.org/pastyme/media/blogs/all/billytell.jpg

Most of us know that he shot an apple off his son's head, and told the regent at that time, that the extra arrow was for him had he killed his son.

Rossini's William Tell Overture, Part I.

We all know that the familiar Lone Ranger theme is later in the concerto.

Remember Victor Borge? He was a fabulous Danish pianist, and here he is playing The Lone Ranger's theme backwards. Hilarios as well.

I can't recall a time when there was no Lone Ranger. I have some recordings of the radio show.
"Put your hands up."
"It's the masked man!"
Bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang bang
"Oh my arm!"
"Take their guns, Tonto."

I had not listened to that William Tell music before, letty. It's much better than the Lone Ranger theme. I love that Victor Borge piece.

Izzie, I am not familiar with that movie, hun, but I, too, love Meryl Streep. The saddest movie that I ever saw was Sophie's Choice with her and Kevin Klein.

edgar, that song was beautiful. I have never heard of The Chad Mitchell trio, but I checked it out and was stunned to see that John Denver was part of it. Thanks, Texas, because wild, blue violets were part of my back yard in Virginia.

Inspired by your violets of the dawn, I came across this guy, and love him, folks.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I watched Errol Flynn in the Charge of the Light Brigade. My ancestor gave the order for the 600 to ride to their death in the Crimean War. I also watched your tribute to Audie Murphy. He starred in The Red Badge of Courage. Loved the book, Texas, and learned what courage was all about. Such irony that the most decorated soldier of WWII should die in a plane crash in Virginia.

Thanks for The Coaster's song, Searchin', honoring Bobby Nunn.

When I played that Violets for Your Furs, I felt myself get truly warm in my wee studio. Only had one fur coat, and I gave it away. It's been 95 degrees here, and the air is heavy.

Time for me to say goodnight, y'all. Tomorrow is the first official day of summer and also father's day. Strange, I found the song that I sang with my father as he lay dying, and guess who did it? Bob Dylan.

Here's my good night song, jazz version, with the lyrics by The Ames Brothers. Been all sorts of synchronicity around here today. Thinking of our Raggedy when I saw that someone was from Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. Hope she is all right.

Wonder where firefly went?

No moon at all, what a night
Even lightnin' bugs have dimmed their lights
Stars have disappeared from sight
And there's no moon at all

Don't make a sound, it's so dark
Even Fido is afraid to bark
What a perfect chance to park
And there's no moon at all

Should we want atmosphere for inspiration, dear
One kiss will make it clear
That tonight is right and bright moonlight might interfere

No moon at all way up above
This is nothin' like they told us of
Just to think we fell in love
And there's no moon at all

Goodnight, all.

From Letty with love and warmth.
