The only "war" movie I've ever seen and enjoyed was "Catch 22" with alan arkin

edgar, Loved Tangled Up in Blue. Reminds me of the quote:

Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.

Found this info on the movie Born on the Fourth of July, buddy.

Born on the Fourth of July is a 1989 film adaptation of the best selling autobiography of the same name by Vietnam War veteran Ron Kovic. Tom Cruise plays Kovic, in a performance that earned him his first Academy Award nomination. Oliver Stone (himself a Vietnam veteran) co-wrote the screenplay with Kovic, and also produced and directed the film. Stone wanted to film the movie in Vietnam, but because relations between the United States and Vietnam had not yet been normalized, it was instead filmed in the Philippines.
Born on the Fourth of July is considered part of Oliver Stone's "trilogy" of films about the Vietnam War " along with Platoon (1986) and Heaven & Earth (1993). The film was given Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Film Editing

Of course, our dys the nonconformist would like Catch 22, but then I liked it as well, folks.

Today is Rosanne Cash's birthday. Here is a Wheel by her.

The reason I like Born on the Fourth of July - The main character arrived at the same conclusion about the war as me. Only thing, he had to do it the hard way.

@Rockhead,
Great song, Rock. Don't you know where "...our vines have tender grapes..." originiates? That naughty King Solomon. If you decided to make wine from your grapes, don't let the Borgia near it.

dys, catch 22..damned if you do; damned if you don't

How about the theme from Mash, y'all.

@dyslexia,
er, dys. I just played that song, cowboy.

Today is Gary Burghoff' birthday. Remember "Radar" O'Rilley? He tried a new TV show called "Walter". Unlike the helicopters, it never got off the ground.

Some young man once told me that I looked like Loretta Switt.

Like dys, this is funny, y'all

@dyslexia,
I don't know about that -- I just saw Juliet on PBS do it with a knife on the New York City Ballet's new version of the Prokofiev and she had quite a pained expression on her face. Couldn't find that one but here's the National Ballet of Paris:

Prokofiev, Mr. Wizard. Hmmm. Didn't he do Peter and the Wolf? Thanks for the ballet version of Romeo and Juliet.

edgar, will always love Fats because rather than be evacuated during hurricane Katrina, he went back to be with his wife.

Also loved Green Back Dollar by The Kingston Trio.

Time for me to say goodnight, and since all the bloody Brits are asleep, we can give 'em hell, right?

The battle of New Orleans, y'all.
