@edgarblythe,
Hi Miss Letty a visit from the Eagle boy downunder. Just to let you know a little early for my birthday yet. Smile The radio is playing a track from Australia's top country music singer Lee Kernagham at the moment. Found it for you.

Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, don't know Vern Gosdin, but I really like the way he sings. So sorry to hear of his death, Texas. Way down deep was great as well as panz's Is it Raining at your House. RIP vern. Bet he's still singin' somewhere, y'all.

Dutchy, welcome back. I must have misunderstood Izzie when she mentioned your birthday song. The Boys from the Bush song was great. Sounded like an American cowboy. The last great restaurant here is The Outback; sad, no?

Rock, the one thing that Johnny Cash said that caught my attention was: "music is about emotions." Boy, folks, was he ever right. Hobo Billy was wonderful, but sad. Once again, Johnny got it right. Thanks for that song.

Hey, Brit. Wow! Don't know Nick Cave but what a great vocalist. Smiled when I saw that one pix; I believe that something got hold of his hair. My goodness, Gene Pitney's voice was so different. Listened to The Man who Shot Liberty Valence, and his voice was deeper and more resonant. Thanks, ModMan.

Speaking of cowboys, today is Willie Nelson's birthday. Here's a tribute to him by him.

Hope I didn't miss acknowledging any one.

@panzade,
panz, loved C12's tribute to Gordon Lightfoot. Here's another memory.

http://www.harrychapinfoundation.org/images/friends1.jpg

Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, Harry Chapin and John Denver.

Well, y'all, today is Jeff Timmons' birthday, founder of the pop group 98 Degrees. I am not certain that this is Jeff, as I never heard him before, but I did notice that the group did a song call The Gift, so this ones seems just right for the end of April and tomorrow's First of May.

Since I met Grace Slick at two of her art gallery openings for Wentworth which I used to work for and did a compilation album which I just found trying to get into the impossible task of organizing my CD's (HEELLLLPPP!) for the background music, here's their classic "White Rabbit" (her art is mainly rock stars and Alice in Wonderland):

She's been clean and sober for over fifteen years now.

@Lightwizard,
Wow! Mr. Wizard, I didn't know White Rabbit but I most certainly know "Don't You Need Somebody to love" . The slide show at the bottom was awesome, buddy. thanks

Funny, I used to think that James Taylor referred to Jefferson Airplane when he sang "....sweet dream and flying machines in pieces on the ground..." Not certain now.

Well, folks. It seems that today is Carolyn Dawn Johnson's birthday. She's another great canuck. Here she is singing at a FamJam in British Columbia. Hey, Reyn, are you there? Razz

@alex240101,
Wow! Great group, alex. Did a bit of research on them.

Metric is a Canadian New Wave/indie rock band. Originally formed in 1998 in New York City, they are currently based in Toronto, Ontario, Montreal, Quebec, Los Angeles, California and Brooklyn, New York.

The band consists of vocalist Emily Haines (who also plays the synthesizer), guitarist James Shaw, bassist Josh Winstead and drummer Joules Scott-Key. Their first full-length album, Old World Underground, Where Are You Now?, was released in 2003 and earned a Juno Award nomination for Best Alternative Album. Live It Out was released on October 4, 2005 and was nominated for the 2006 Polaris Music Prize for the Canadian Album of The Year and once again the Juno Award nomination for Best Alternative Album.

The first album the band recorded, Grow Up and Blow Away, was finally released on June 26, 2007 by Last Gang Records. The album was originally recorded for Rykodisc Records early in the band's career but not released at the time due to internal changes at the company.

Haines and Shaw also perform with Broken Social Scene, and Haines has been a guest on albums by Stars, KC Accidental, The Stills, and Jason Collett. Scott-Key and Winstead have their own side project, Bang Lime, and Haines has released a solo album and companion EP, Knives Don't Have Your Back and What Is Free to a Good Home?, respectively, under the name Emily Haines and the Soft Skeleton.

Their songs "Monster Hospital", "Police and the Private" and "Front Row" have been used on the television show Grey's Anatomy. "Monster Hospital" has also been used in CSI: Miami.

Speaking of metric, America never did go on that system; however I think zero temperature is better described by celsius. Loved "Heart Beat Like a Hammer."
How about this oldie inspired by the temperature, y'all.

The Bystanders later renamed themselves, Man.

@panzade,
Now I forgot who clued me in as I was trying to use the URL button in the BBCode Editor in Reply. You actually copy the address of the YouTube video (not the Properties link) and click on the Img button in the editor. It will give you the bracketed [img]I[/img] with the cursor inbetween. Paste the page address from YouTube you copied. Then just swipe the img within the brackets to highlight it and retype youtube in its place -- same on the right side but leaving the / mark. It will then embed the player in your post with whatever text you type above and below.
