When I was pretty young, I was able to buy Billie Holiday's songs on cheaply issued records. Interest in her was at a low ebb. Now, those same songs are offered on top of the line CD collections.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I think Diana Ross's movie about Billie created a revival. Bud once told me that Billie and Trummy Young "suitcased"(jazz for leaving without paying the bill) from a hotel. So, folks, I went to the archives and found this one.

Ah, Trummy, you are great!

LOS ANGELES - A spokesman for Ed McMahon says the television personality is in intensive care in a Los Angeles hospital.

Spokesman Howard Bragman says the 85-year-old former "Tonight Show" sidekick has been hospitalized for a number of weeks, and has pneumonia and other unspecified ailments.

Bragman will not name the hospital, but says McMahon's wife and family members are present.

@edgarblythe,
Hey, edgar. I'm sorry to hear that. He was really funny as Johnny's sidekick.

A memory, folks.

@edgarblythe,
oops, folks, what happened to the tigers? Did the zoo keeper drop by? Razz

Love that one, edgar, cause so long ago a member of our vast audience whose name was cello was seeking ways to learn another language and we decided that music was the answer. "go together well; tres bien ensemble"

Here's a trio that hasn't been around in a while, y'all.

Incidentally, Texas, I noticed that we missed your song from Fiddler on the Roof. Love it as well.

@djjd62,
dj, What a fabulous group. Pee Wee Ellis is one great sax man, Canada. I went searching for info about the man and found that he was influenced and inspired by Sonny Rollins. (also got a big kick out of Cleaning Windows #2)

Time for me to say goodnight, and I can't think of a better song with which to do so than this lovely song by Sonny Rollins. Amazing that the man is still touring and playing at 78 years of age.

Originally, the song that I intend to play was called "Music from Beyond the Moon."

So, folks, from Sonny.

And the lyrics as well.

The very thought of you makes
My heart sing
Like an April breeze
On the wings of spring
And you appear in all your splendour
My one and only love

The shadows fall
And spread their mystic charms
In the hush of night
While you're in my arms
I feel your lips so warm and tender
My one and only love

The touch of your hand is like heaven
A heaven that I've never known
The blush on your cheek
Whenever I speak
Tells me that you are my own

You fill my eager heart with
Such desire
Every kiss you give
Sets my soul on fire
I give myself in sweet surrender
My one and only love

The blush on your cheek
Whenever I speak
Tells me that you are my own
You fill my eager heart with
Such desire
Every kiss you give
Sets my soul on fire
I give myself in sweet surrender
My one and only love

My one and only love

As always,

From Letty with love

Good morning, WA2K radio land.

edgar, I like old timey stuff as well. Thanks for Rose, Rollins, and the window cleaners remark. Razz

Her, Brit. Didn't you guys send Jack the Ripper over here with your London Bridge? Thanks for that reference and also Marvin Gaye's version of our national anthem.

Hmmm. Just found out that Rae Dawn Chong, whose birthday is today, is a Canuck. We live and learn here on our cyber radio.

Here's Van again, y'all.

I had intended to be halfway to Dallas by now, but the wind gusts were expected to be 30 mph, so I put off the trip. Three hours driving like that is more than I wish to endure.
Domino was an okay song, letty.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, I chose that Van Morrison song as a dedication to our British friends.

I understand about the winds as we are supposed to receive severe ones later on this week plus plunging temperatures.

Here is a wind song for you from Japan, Texas.

First, a little background on the artist.

Oshio's music

Oshio's music is classified within various categories including pop, new age, and jazz. He became internationally renown after performing a live jam session with B.B. King at the Montreal Jazz Festival in July 2002, and his style has drawn comparisons with other highly regarded musicians such as Michael Hedges. Oshio's musical technique includes fingerpicking, tap harmonics, and a unique strumming style referred to as a "nail attack" in which he slaps the strings with the nails of his middle and ring fingers.

While his albums include mostly original material, Oshio is also well known for his covers and movie soundtracks. His unique skill in interpretation and arrangement can be heard in tracks such as "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence" from his album "Starting Point"
