Good morning, WA2K folks.

Thanks to Izzie, Rocky, and edgar for Mr. Cole memories.

Rex, I am sorry that I don't have the equipment to listen to flash player, buddy, but thanks for the contributions.

Thought that I would begin the day with Johnny Hartman and a lovely ballad also done by Peggy Lee.

@Francis,
Francis, Welcome back. Great to see you here again. Unfortunately, Johnny Hartman was born at the wrong time and did not get the appreciation that he so richly deserved.

I have always liked ABBA, and today let's hear from a member of that great group whose birthday is today.

@Letty,
I didn't recall Johnny Hartman. He had a good way wih a song.
Good morning, all. I won't be online much during the daylight hours. Mrs edgarblythe is going for an MRI (shoulder problem) and then we will be out doing other things. See you all later.

How about this one from Petula Clark, folks?

edgar, hope the Mrs. picture turns out perfect. I never heard of Johnny Hartman either until I found that song by Nat. Then I did some research as I always do.

I believe the mrs will require surgery to repair something torn in the shoulder. She had the same operation on the other one over a year ago. It is one of the effects from working a job which required her to unload groceries from a truck every week. She has long since left that job, but the melody lingers on.

I have a song by Lulu, to compliment the Pet Clark one.

listening to yet another report on the less than adequate care on offer for returning iraq vets

made me think of this tune

I'M ASKING YOU SERGEANT WHERE'S MINE
Billy Connolly

I'm lying in bed I'm in room Twenty-six
Thinking on things that I've done
Like drinkin' with squaddies and bullin' my boots
I'm countin' the medals I've won
These hospital wards they're all drab lookin' joints
But the ceiling's as much as I see
It could do with a wee touch of paper
And paint but then again maybe that's me

Oh sergeant is this the adventure you meant
When I put my name down on the line
All that talk of computers and sunshine and skis
All I'm asking you sergeant where's mine

I've a brother in Glasgow with long curly hair
When I joined up he said I was daft
He's says shooting strangers just is'na his game
That brother of my is'na saft
But I can put up with most things I've done in my time
I can even put up with the pains
But what do you do with a gun in your hand
When you're faced with a hundred odd wanes

Oh sergeant is this the adventure you meant
When I put my name down on the line
All that talk of computers and sunshine and skis
All I'm asking you sergeant where's mine

Oh sergeant is this the adventure you meant
When I put my name down on the line
All that talk of computers and sunshine and skis
All I'm asking you sergeant where's mine

A new film, Cadillac Records, will take us back to 1958. It stars Beyonce Knowles as Etta James.

edgar, I am so sorry to hear that. I recall your having told me about Mrs. edgar's problem. I hope things go well the second time around, Texas.

My word, folks, that song by LuLu reminded me of To Sir With Love. Sidney Poitier has always been superb. Thanks for that one. It was really good.

dj, welcome back, Canada. The lyrics to your song made we find it on YouTube, and it is awesome.

Oops, edgar, missed your car song. Great, buddy and I recall Miss Jazz Etta James. Thanks for that preview.

Time for me to say goodnight, and I think I shall do it with Marty in memory of my brother.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, WA2K folks.

edgar, That was a great song by Mr. Engelbert. Like it much better than "I Don't Have a Wooden Heart."

Well, all, it pays to have techie friends. My equipment is now twice as fast and I have flash player so I listen to all. Love it!

Guess whose birthday is today. Diana Krall's and that lady is fabulous. How about one by her, and we'll dedicate this to Setanta and Beth. <big smile>
