@edgarblythe,
Thanks, edgar, for Marty and Molly. Your last song, however, was rather sad, Texas.

Well, folks, I just discovered something in our vast audience. Phoenix, and edgar, and Calamity Jane paid a tribute to a fabulous vocalist who died as she was singing, and although I have never heard her sing, I found this great song--a duet.

Quite often, I need sad songs. They speak to the melancholy that sometimes plays with my emotons.

@edgarblythe,
Yes, edgar, often we feel that we must punish ourselves for what went wrong. Melancholy Baby is one I recall, but I can't remember who sang it.

Time for me to say goodnight, y'all, and I hope that mysteryman is all right.

Here's a tribute to Richard Burton, whose birthday is today, followed by the theme from Sandpiper by George Shearing. Love that guy.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, WA2K.

edgar, I had to do some research on Frank Gorshin. Funny fellow, Texas, and that video of him doing his impression of Richard Burton was funny. Also watched Rich Little and I had forgotten how fantastic he was.

Interesting note, folks. Today is Veteran's Day and the birthday of George Patton. Found this interesting clip of the real man and his speech. Had no idea that he was born in Virginia, and that accent doesn't sound like the Virginians that I know.

@Raggedyaggie,
Welcome back, puppy. Missed you yesterday, and we welcome your lovely septet. My wee studio shows 66 degrees, but I like it that way, PA.

Hey, edgar. Thanks for "let it Be Me". Great song!

A tribute to the old and the new, y'all.

First Leonardo, then a funny and serious discussion with some Russian writer.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, thanks for the Johnny Mathias song. Love it, and I just discovered that he did "When Sunny Gets Blue". Always like Harry, Texas and as usual he did a great job.

I was interested in WWI, folks, and thought I would play a bit from All's quiet on the Western Front.

And since Jonathan Winters is one of my favorite commedians, how about a neat one by him and Dino

@Letty,
All Quiet on the Western Front is one of the true great war novels.
Dean and Jonathan were good together.

Neil Diamond sings about the blues. His take is about the same as mine.

@edgarblythe,
Ah, dear Hank, edgar. That was an upbeat song, and I guess you and I and many folks on our forum who need to be up, right?

Also feel Neil's Song Sung Blue.

Thanks to Merry Andrew and Setanta, I've been doing research on the causes of WWI. That does tend to occupy one's mind, Texas.

And the history behind the picture gives us the details on the trigger that started it all.

Well, time for your PD to say goodnight, and here is a fabulous lady that will do it for me. What a beauty and what a voice. Salute to WWII Dame Vera Lynn.

Nothing Compares 2 U

It's been seven hours and fifteen days
Since you took your love away
I go out every night and sleep all day
Since you took your love away
Since you been gone I can do whatever I want
I can see whomever I choose

I can eat my dinner in a fancy restaurant
But nothing, I said nothing can take away these blues
'Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you

It's been so lonely without you here
Like a bird without a song
Nothing can stop these lonely tears from falling
Tell me baby where did I go wrong
I could put my arms around every boy I see
But they'd only remind me of you

I went to the doctor guess what he told me, guess what he told me
He said girl you better try to have fun no matter what you do
But he's a fool
'Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you

All the flowers that you planted, mama, in the back yard
All died when you went away
I know that living with you baby was sometimes hard
But I'm willing to give it another try
'Cause nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you
Nothing compares
Nothing compares to you

Prince

Good morning, edgar, Rock, and Rex. Hey, folks, that sounds like the makings of a new male trio. Razz Thanks for the late evening music.

For our WA2K listening audience, a reminder that today is Jo Stafford's birthday, and I think this is her most popular song. (Homer and Jethro did a great parody on this one as well)
