Good afternoon.

A Happy 40th to Hugh Jackman today and we've heard it before, but let's hear it again.

@Raggedyaggie,
Ah, there's our puppy. Thanks again, Raggedy, for the marvelous duet dedicated to the legend, Enrico Caruso.

Here is the English translation, and I felt a little tear emerge as I heard the song and read the lyrics.

Here, where the sea shines
and the wind howls,
on the old terrace beside the gulf of Sorrento,
a man embraces a girl
he wept after,
then clears his throat and continues the song:

I love you very much,
very, very much, you know;
it is a chain by now
that melts the blood inside the veins, you know…

He saw the lights out on the sea,
thought of the nights there in America,
but they were only the fishermen’s lamps
and the white wash astern.
He felt the pain in the music
and stood up from the piano,
but when he saw the moon emerging from a cloud
death also seemed sweeter to him.
He looked the girl in the eyes,
those eyes as green as the sea.
Then suddenly a tear fell
and he believed he was drowning.

I love you very much,
very, very much, you know,
it is a chain by now
that melts the blood inside the vein you know…

The power of opera,
where every drama is a hoax;
with a little make-up and with mime
you can become someone else.
But two eyes that look at you,
so close and real,
make you forget the words,
confuse your thoughts,
So everything became small,
also the nights there in America.
You turn and see your life
through the white wash astern.

But, yes, it is life that ends
and he did not think so much about it
on the contrary, he already felt happy
and continued his song:

I love you very much,
very, very much, you know,
it is a chain by now
that melts the blood inside the veins, you know…

I love you very much,
very, very much, you know,
it is a chain by now
that melts the blood inside the veins, you know…

(translation: author unknown)

And for the afternoon, a smiling Hugh Jackman and his non dance routine.

We'll dedicate this one to our Aussie/Auzzie friends.

Well, happy birthday, Hugh!

We went out for dinner with our friends Katrin and Marcus tonight. Marcus just got back from the US. He is working for Children of Bodom during their world tour and will now be home for four weeks. This is for him:

@urs53,
Wow! I just researched Children of Bodom thinking it was some sort of "Help the Children" thing, Urs. How tragic the results. Glad you did that one by them, honey, and I am certain Hugh will appreciate the birthday wish in song.

Here's one about Mozart and it has a different approach.

I had not heard this song before. It's pretty nice.

@edgarblythe,
edgar, that was beautiful. Ah, the land of enchantment; now I understand.

Time for me to say goodnight, and it was wonderful to discover how many Annie's there are. Great to know there's a revival of the musical, y'all.

So, to all the Annie's out there, here is my song for you.

I hope your Sunday has been as pleasant as mine.

Need I say "tomorrow"?

Good morning WA2k radio audience.

Eva, it was our pleasure to dedicate those songs to you. Ah, Venus and Venice are not too different, you know.

Urs, Musicians are a different ilk, are they not? I guess it's the fact that they see the world differently and are cross cultural. I can understand why Marcus has fun.

Wow! edgar, I love that song by Rod, and he sounds better than I have ever heard him sound, Texas.

Today the U.S. celebrates Columbus Day, and I have been up most of the morning researching dialects and the man who gave the name "Indians" to the people of Hispaniola. (He really did not discover America) Some history buffs deem him a villain. "If this be error and upon me proved." so be it, folks.

Speaking of musicians, today is Paul Simon's birthday, so here is one by him.

@edgarblythe,
Great singer, edgar, and I recall his music. Didn't know that he was a Dallas boy, however.

Wonder if anyone in our listening audience remembers Zorro with one Z.
The folks here come and go, but they don't talk much of Michael Angelo Razz

Love this one, y'all.

Ah, edgar, we both missed sweet Izzie's hugs. I listened to her song by Eva on the mooseman's thread. It was lovely. Goodnight, dear lady.

Whatever Disney was, he made the folks of the depression era live, laugh, love and be happy.

Time for me to say goodnight, and although this isn't led Zepplin, it's a lovely acoustic jazz guitar, and the lyrics to go with it.

Let's build a stairway to the stars
And climb that stairway to the stars
With Love beside us
To fill the night with a song
We'll hear the sound of violins
Out yonder where the blue begins
The moon will guide us
As we go drifting along.

Can't we sail away on a lazy daisy petal
Over the rim of the hills?
Can't we sail away on a little dream
Settle high on the crest of a thrill?

Let's build a stairway to the stars
A lovely lovely stairway to the stars
It would be heaven
To climb to heaven with you

Let's build a stairway to the stars
And climb that stairway to the stars
Yes we're climbing
Climbing to that stairway to the stars
Stars, stars, stars
The sound of violins
Way out yonder where the blue begins
The moon will guide us
As we go drift drift drifting along

Can't we sail away on a lazy daisy petal
Over the rim of the hills?
Can't we sail away on a little dream
Settle high on the crest of a thrill?

Keep building the stairway to the stars
A lovely stairway to the stars
It would be heaven
Heaven to climb with you.

Goodnight, everyone. Things will get better.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

edgar, that was a lovely medley. I particularly enjoyed Pocahontas, Texas.

Well, folks, from Disney to Dylan to DOW. I listened to this song as last evening's theme to Cold Case Files. Wow! More synchronicity, methinks.
