@edgarblythe,
edgar, I especially enjoyed the Ballad of Joe Hill, and supposedly this is his will.

My will is easy to decide
For there is nothing to divide
My kin don't need to fuss and moan
"Moss does not cling to a rolling stone."
My body? - Oh. - If I could choose
I would to ashes it reduce
And let the merry breezes blow
My dust to where some flowers grow
Perhaps some fading flower then
Would come to life and bloom again
This is my Last and final Will
Good Luck to All of you
Joe Hill

Had no idea that Vaughn Monroe did "Sound Off". Bud called him vitamin voice.
Razz

Great plug for The Pops. " sugar pops are tops. "

Here's another ballad, folks, based on a legend, and one that most of us know, I think.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMHLWmgi7WY

The guy that held the spike was called the "shaker", and I think we can understand why he was so named.

I always stop in at the bunk house to listen to cowboy songs. One of my particular favorites is Marty Robbins. Today he is telling us the story of the Saddle Tramp.

@edgarblythe,
Great song by Marty, edgar. Love the lyrics as well.

Thinking of Jim Croce tonight, folks, and I like this one although I like all the songs that he did.

@Letty,
Jim is one of those artists taken at a time in their life, where you just know there was so much more to come - if they had survived longer.

@edgarblythe,
Exactly, edgar. James Taylor managed to get through his time of trouble and is still performing. I had no idea that he was a heroin addict, however, nor that his father was his greatest support.

Want to hear something fabulous? What a duo, and playing and singing with the greatest of grace, one of Duke's best.

This will be my goodnight song, and what a wonderful way to hit the hay.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, WA2K radio audience and edgar. Razz

That was beautiful, Texas. Wouldn't it be wonderful to be a part of that choir, folks?

Speaking of "sayonara", that is a perfect lead in to a coveted award:

So far, the Japanese have made a sweep in physics and chemistry.

In physics, it had to do with the quarks of nature. (I read that initially as quirks) and in chemistry, one Japanese fellow and two Americans for green flourscent protein in jelly fish. Congrats, guys.

Today is the birthday of a famous female, my daughter, so this is for you, as you sang it so beautifully.

@Raggedyaggie,
Hey, puppy, thanks for the quartet of notables, and you have a great day as well. Wink

This is Hispanic month, folks, so let's hear a tribute to the gorillas, Sigourney, and Diane by a wonderful Spanish vocalist, shall we?

Time for me to say goodnight. We miss our former contributors and hope they are well and enjoying the night.

My Goodnight song is an old Welsh air, and it is lovely.

and the lyrics.

Sleep my child, and peace attend thee
All through the night;
Guardian angels God will lend thee,
All through the night,

Soft the drowsy hours are creeping,
Hill and vale in slumber steeping,
I my loving vigil keeping,
All through the night.

Angels watching ever round thee,
All through the night,
In thy slumbers close surround thee,
All through the night,
They should of all fears disarm thee,
No forebodings should alarm thee,
They will let no peril harm thee,
All through the night.

I found the tiny lapel pin of the guardian angel, Dave.

Good morning WA2K.

Loved the Beatles video, Letty. Did you know that John Lennon (1940-1980) and his son, Sean (1975), were both born on October 9?

http://mrzine.monthlyreview.org/JohnLennonWhiteAlbum.jpghttp://images.huffingtonpost.com/gen/12381/thumbs/s-SEAN-LENNON-large.jpg

And some more Oct. 9 notables:

Camille Saint-Saens (1835-1921); Alfred Dreyfus (1859-1935); Jackson Browne (1948); Tony Shalhoub (Dedicated to our P.D.) (1953); Scott Bakula (I heard him sing Lennon's "Imagine "on a Quantum Leap episode. He has a great voice)(1954) and Michael Pare (I liked him in "Eddie and the Cruisers")(1958)

Here are Jackson; Tony, Scott and Michael:

@Raggedyaggie,
Wow! I had no idea that John and Sean's birthday was today. This is getting spooky, folks.

Thanks again, puppy, for the magnificent faces, and I love Tony. Remember the theme? "It's a Jungle Out There." and it still is; just as Ian Anderson declared, we still "Bungle in the Jungle."

Had no idea that Scott could sing. WOW again.

Speaking of spooky, here's one from Camille

Wow, that is spooky, but I couldn't stop seeing the Munsters.

Here's one with Jackson Browne with a little help from Joan. Smile
