@JPB,
Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

"Gee, it's good to be back home again."

Rocky, JPB, and Reyn, thanks for the music and the funny facts. "Kill all the Golfers" reminded me of Shakespeares' funny about " ...kill all the lawyers..."

Love James Taylor, as most of our listeners already know.

Reyn, that funny about an intoxicated ant gave me a smile this morning.

Today is Julio Iglesias' birthday, and I was amazed at his background. Let's hear a medley by him, y'all.

@Letty,
Good morning, all. I am in high hopes my power will be restored today. They gave it back to the front third of my neighborhood yesterday.

@edgarblythe,
Great, Texas, and I understand that U2 had a gathering in Houston in 2008, so this is for you, buddy. (strange, I had no sense of vertigo this time; hope you don't)

@Raggedyaggie,
Thanks, Indigo puppy. Love your montage today, gal, and thanks.

Ah, the "boss" and the streets of brotherly love. We'll dedicate that to our Urs and BigDice.

Willie and Ray drew some dry tears with that one as my son looks Hispanic. Beautiful, Raggedy.

One of my favorites by John Coltrane, folks, and the lyrics are fantastic.

Johnny Hartman is new to me, but I love his voice.

@Dutchy,
Wow! Thanks, Dutchy. I haven't heard that one, but I really like it.

I was correct about Desperado having been a movie; here is the trailer followed by another Tequila song.

@JPB,
Rocky, That was soooo funny. Pee Wee reminds me of Ed Sullivan who always said, "A Really Big Shoe Tonight". Thanks for the smile, buddy.

JPB, Ah, Tony playing the Spanish guitar in that movie was awesome, gal. Thanks for the reminder. Lovely, Chi of the windy city.

Well, time for me to say goodnight, folks, and I have two which I would like to dedicate. First, to our puppy, as I watched A Portrait of Jenny last evening on TCM. I had never seen the movie, but Jennifer must have been a ghost or Joseph was one. Didn't quite understand it.

Next for Mame who inspired this memory of a beautiful poem. I'm certain that she will know Bliss Carman. <smile>

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EXKeWdAk4a8

And the poem alone...

A Vagabond Song
By Bliss Carman
1861-1929

There is something in the autumn that is native to my blood --
Touch of manner, hint of mood;
And my heart is like a rhyme,
With the yellow and the purple and the crimson keeping time.

The scarlet of the maples can shake me like a cry
Of bugles going by.
And my lonely spirit thrills
To see the frosty asters like a smoke upon the hills.

There is something in October sets the gypsy blood astir;
We must rise and follow her,
When from every hill of flame
She calls and calls each vagabond by name.

Goodnight, world

From Letty with love

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

edgar, it is great to see you back. Hope all is in tact in Texas, and thanks for the Roger Miller song. He was a funny guy.

Today is Kevin Sorbo's birthday, and I vaguely recall his Hercules role, so let's listen to a tribute to him. The song is one that I really like, 'cause I think it's funny, folks.

Good afternoon WA2K.

Thanks for the song, Letty. I, too, have no idea what "A Portrait of Jenny" was all about, but that didn't matter to me. I liked it anyway. There are lots of things I don't understand that I like .Very Happy

I think the Autumn poem you posted is lovely.

Some more September 24 birthdays and Kevin again just because......

F. Scott Fitzgerald (1896-1940); Anthony Newley (1931-1999); Linda McCartney (1941-1998); Phil Hartman (1948-1998) and Kevin Sorbo (1958)

@edgarblythe,
Reply to Raggedy. Hey, puppy, thanks again for the great montage of notables. You're correct, PA. I never understood T.S. Eliot's Wasteland, either, but it has caused me to do a great deal of research. I also appreciate your acknowledgement, and thank you.

edgar, I read Zelda, and I guess we should remember that the Roaring Twenties was a time of the lost generation. Blame it on WWI and the aftermath. I recall that F. Scott and Francis Scott Key were kin. Gatsby was aspiring to be a part of the upper crust of the day and the result cost him his life.

Here's a tribute to Zelda, F. Scott's wife, folks. What a tragic life.

I have just come to appreciate Garland Jeffreys. Best to listen to a few songs by him before making a judgement. I particularly like El Salvadore by him.
