WA2K RADIO BREAKING NEWS

Quote:
Tropical Storm Gustav forms in central Caribbean
(Associated Press, August 25, 2008)

MIAMI (AP) " The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Gustav has formed in the central Caribbean, and is heading for the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

At 2 p.m. EDT Monday, the storm had maximum sustained winds of near 60 mph and was located about 225 miles southeast of Port-au-Prince, Haiti.

Forecasters say the center of the storm would be moving near or over southwestern Haiti on Tuesday. The storm is moving toward the northwest at about 14 mph.

Hurricane warnings have been issued for the southern and western parts of the island shared by the Dominican Republic and Haiti. A hurricane watch has been issued for Haiti from north of Port-au-Prince to the northern border of the Dominican Republic.

@wandeljw,
first allow me to acknowledge our firefly for doing the dance bit by Van the Man. I know that song, gal, but I really don't recall V.J. doing it. Thanks, dear.

wandel, welcome to our wee cyber radio station, buddy. Do you mean to tell me that they are naming a song after our Gus? UhOh.

Ah, me. Let's hope we are spared by the man. The women seem to be far worse. Thanks, wanded. Don't be a stranger here , buddy.

Here's one that I know, and after chatting with my sister, recall why I know it. We screwed up the meter on purpose by having the cockney guys come in out of whack. I remember Yellow Bird by this lovely lady, too.

Psssst, edgar. I thought you didn't like that one, but glad that you do, Texas

@Letty,
They actually named a storm, "Gustav". I thought maybe you had something to do with it, Letty. The National Hurricane Center is in Florida. Smile

@wandeljw,
Shhhh. Don't let that go public, wandel. I like to keep a low profile. Wink

This will surprise everyone, I think. Our Gus knows more than "Kisses Sweeter than Wine."

Here's proof, folks.

@Letty,
Well, the Democrats begin their convention tonight. They are definitely aiming to achieve sweet harmony.

@firefly,
firefly, you just gave me the first laugh that I have had all day. The idea of the members of the convention appearing stark naked in front of the press and others, would probably work in their favor. You know, nothing to hide?

Where is that puppy? I don't believe this. The Bells of Saint Mary's was on TCM, and Swinging on a Star was featured. They have been running the oldies all day long.

One of my favorites by The Beatles, folks. (still grinning)

Y'all need to look at that tribute to Tim Burton. Had no idea he did Mars Attacks.

@edgarblythe,
Nice, edgar. I notice that The Platters also did Red Sails in the Sunset. Like that as well.

Time for me to say goodnight, and water has always been soothing to me, so here it is, all.

Turning "on" the electric light and going to bed.

@Rockhead,
Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

Love that song, RH, but not the rhythm. Thanks, buddy. "My Ship Has Sails" is so lovely, and I just found out that Kurt Weil wrote it..

How about a little early morning jazz, y'all.

@firefly,
Fabulous, firefly. "....thanks be to God...?" Loved that line in response to "drunk and disorderly.."

How about an inverse song for the dark of the day, folks.

I was listening to this song as the coyotes howled at the moon.

Good morning, Miss Letty and all her listeners. I must say that this morning's collection of starters has put a smile on my face. Brubeck, Rachmaninoff, Roy Fox, and Branford Marsalis all thrown in with a bit of Christmas.

It's going to be a great day!

Hey, gang. Loved every single song. You Ought to be in Pictures was interesting, because the hero looked somewhat liked Rudolph Valentino. JPB, thanks for the observation about diversity. That is what our cyber radio station has strived for from the onset.

We'll dedicate this to all our listeners, especially Izzie ,because we did a duet with this one in another forum.

If I recall correctly, Led Zeppelin performed that one with Ragland Castle in mind. Have to search that one out, however.
