@firefly,
Today is birthday of the very popular chef, Julia Child. Yesterday, on the news, we were reminded that Julia once worked for the secret intelligence agency that was the forerunner of the CIA. But, most of us remember Julia for her cooking. The title of this one could have been her theme song.

@Letty,
Good morning WA2K.

Happy birthday to songwriter Jimmy Webb who is 62 years old today. Up, Up, and Away," "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," "Wichita Lineman," "Galveston," "Didn't We" and "MacArthur Park" are a few of his songs.

And a good day to all.

Smile

@Raggedyaggie,
firefly, that was the perfect song for Julia. I recall that it has recently been discovered that she was a spy for the OSS. I think that was the beginning of the CIA, but I'll have to check that out.

"Please, sir. Can I have some more?" Doing this all from memory, folks, so I can keep up with our Raggedy's RNA and perhaps get a science award myself. <smile>

Well, speak of the puppy, and up she pops.

Well, I was looking for Jimmy Webb. (oh, what a tangled web. shup up, Letty)

I realize, o spotted one, that he and Glen collaborated, and I have listened to both. Jim is good in his own way, but I still prefer Glen. (except his acting sucked) I'll bet PA remembers that one. Wow! Jimmy looks great, but, like all of us, he's changed. Love this one by Jimmy, y'all.

Love those chord changes!

@Letty,
Here's another tasty dish Julia Child might have approved of.

@firefly,
This man with a horn recorded Webb's MacArthur Park, but today I thought we might listen to him play the music of Bernstein. I have always been a big fan of Maynard's ear-shattering gifts. There was no one more exciting on the trumpet.

@Raggedyaggie,
firefly, did NOT know Creedence did that one. Love Jambalaya. Maynard screeched them high note, but Maria was great, gal. Wow! He also did Vesti la giubba from Pagliacci. Unbelievable, gal, and thanks.

Ah, Puppy. I love owls and you be good, PA. Now if only I had passed albebra, I would accept that lovely award with humility. :-P Thanks, Raggedy.

Now I see why it is important to "fit to screen" I thought the YouTube had vanished, but it didn't. Strange, however, that I couldn't delete. Need to check on that.

Well, folks, Miss Minerva is going to do a spy song in honor of Julia and the OSS. Weird Al is going to do a parody on Secret Agent Man. Hilarious, folks.

@Letty,
Also born today was Napoleon Bonaparte. He had some interesting things to say.

And this music seems a fitting way to remember him

@firefly,
Thanks, firefly and edgar. Good tributes to the summer heat and Napoleon. Especially enjoyed the background on the general. I do believe that he beat Henry Ford to observing that "history is bunk".

Well, folks, it seems as though Bigfoot has been discovered in Georgia. (U.S., that is) The discovery was presented on CNN today, and didn't hold much evidence since DNA has to have other DNA to compare it with.
I will never forget my colleague trying to teach iambic foot and one of the students referring to it as " I am bigfoot".

Here's a funny parody on the mysterious creature.

@Letty,
Urs, I missed your song and you. Welcome back and I think most of us here like ABBA. Strange, just saw that they did Waterloo. Really like Fernando, and we'll dedicate that to McTag who likes them as well. Do you know him? <smile>

You know, folks, I don't think firefly failed French. She does come up with some good ones.

Back in a moment, y'all, to direct the programs here on WA2K radio.

@Letty,
Sleep time, y'all, and even my microphone is nodding.

Funny, all. ABBA is a palindrome; and one of the best known ones is from the General.

able was I ere I saw elba.

So, in keeping with our late nite theme. Here is my goodnight song from Glen.

We've heard everybody else do Jambalaya. Here is the Jerry Lee Lewis version.

@edgarblythe,
Good morning, edgar. Ah, Jerry Lee is kin to me. Razz Did you know that Anne Blythe's birthday is today?; however, so is Donovan Leitch's, so here is one from him, y'all, and he rather reminds me of Bob Dylan.

@firefly,
Happy Birthday to Madonna, who seems to show no signs of slowing down. I must confess, I prefer this to her usual music

@firefly,
firefly, you have electic taste in music. So glad that you are here on our cyber radio. Love that smooth jazz piece that you played by Dave.

Never cared for Madonna until I heard her sing "Don't Cry for Me Argentina", and I find that the one that you just played is great. Thanks again.

Today is Bill Evans' birthday, and here's a tribute to him, folks.

I love "I shoud Care" as a ballad, too.
