edgar, Certainly didn't know that Marty did that one. It was Raggedy who pointed out to me about it being a song about Maori in New Zeland. Thanks, Texas.

Another one from Nat that I love, and I think we are saving a sailing day here on WA2K.

Good morning WA2K.

Letty, I remember my mom singing "Me and My Shadow". I loved that song.

Edgar: Nice version by Marty, but I still love Bing's recording of the Maori Farewell song. I've often wondered how it would have sounded by a Maorian chorus. Very Happy

Firefly, one more original. Very Happy
I bought the soundtrack of Carmen Jones when the movie first came out and I agree with you about Marilyn Horne's Carmen Jones. I also have a Broadway recording of it with Grace Bumbry who is much more pleasing to the ear.

You all awake now. Laughing

Loved that, Raggedy. Oh, yes. We're awake. Max Roach on tom toms, and what a fabulous drummer.

Is Harry in that version? If so, I could have done "Oh, My Island in the Sun", but decided on this one, y'all.

I've never heard the Broadway version of Carmen Jones, Raggedy, but I'm sure I'd prefer it to the movie. Bumbry is a great Carmen.

And, listening to this one, I can see the palm trees swaying, and feel the island breeze blowing.

Unfortunately, firefly, when the palm trees sway here they blow fronds all over my lawn and roof. Razz

Back later, folks. Have stuff to do.

Yes. That's the movie version. I love Harry's version of "Island in the Sun".

Raggedy, I meant your version. Who was the man who played the part of Don Jose? My word, folks. I just found out the entire opera was based on a story by Prosper Merimee. Wow!

Hey, edgar. Love that version of the song by Marty. Now I am trying to recall "high wind in Jamaica" No matter, all, let's listen to this one. It does have a riverboat in it. Razz

How about a cruise down the river, even on a Saturday afternoon.

Followed by a trip to a Greek island, and a dance with Zorba to the music of Mikis Theodorakis

Letty:

George Webb plays Don Jose to Grace Bumbry's Carmen on the 1962 CD I have. I've never heard anything further about him. Carmen Jones, book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein, was produced by Billy Rose and first appeared at the Broadway Theatre on December 2, 1943. It received favorable reviews and ran for 502 performances.

Hey, firefly. Isn't it wonderful to be able to pick any day of the week on our little cyber radio. Loved your adaptation of Crusing Down the River. Thanks, and Zorba was marvelous. I cannot believe that Anthony Quinn is Irish Mexican.

Thanks, Raggedy. I am not familiar with that version of Carmen, but we love to learn here.

How about this folks:

Musician Paddles From Gig To Gig..

Chris Bell Tours Coffeehouses Along The Eerie Canal, Saving Money In The Process. No mule, either.

So, guess what Letty is going to play.

Great song by Harry, firefly. My sisters have been to Mexico several times.

So, how about this one by Marty. My brother sang it, too.

Hey, firefire, don't leave yet. Cape Cod by Patti is great, and Elvis in Hawaii seems, well, Elvish.

Besides, dear, you'll want to hear this montage since it's Gillian Anderson's birthday. We haven't been abducted yet, however. Razz

Back later, folks, with my own special goodnight song.
