firefly, Raggedy just said it for me.

Hey, puppy. thanks for the great collage and I loved Marlene's "Can't Help It.

Great commentery by Woody, and we all love the theme song to Cheers. Yep, where everybody knows your name is my cup of tea.

How about some jazz now. This was inspired by the Picture Connection, folks.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t6Nz5U9DHjA&feature=related

And here are the lyrics.

My baby she is made out of love
Like one of those bunnies out of a Playboy Club
But she got somethin' much greater than gold
Crazy 'bout that girl 'cause she got so much soul

I said she got the kind of lovin'
Kissin' and a-huggin'
Sure is mellow
Glad that I'm her fellow and I know
That she knocks me off my feet
Have mercy on me
'Cause she knocks me off my feet
There is no girl in the whole world
That can love me like you do

My baby when she walks by
All the fellows go, ooooooo, and I know why
It's simply 'cause that girl she looks so fine
And if she ever leaves me
I would lose my mind

She got the kind of lovin'
Kissin' and a-huggin'
Sure is mellow
Glad that I'm her fellow and I know
That she knocks me off my feet
Have mercy on me
'Cause she knocks me off my feet, hey
There is no girl in the whole world
That can love me like you do

Yeah, everybody in the neighborhood
Will testify that my girl she looks so good
And she's so fine
She'd give eyesight to the blind
And if she ever leaves me I would lose my mind

She got the kind of lovin'
Kissin' and a-huggin'
Sure is mellow
Glad that I'm her fellow and I know
That she knocks me off my feet
Have mercy on me
'Cause she knocks me off my feet
There is no girl in the whole world
That can love me like you do

Baby, yeah, you got that soulful feel
Yeah, it's all right
Mercy, mercy

Yesterday, when looking for the Romania song, I came across Klezmer music, which I hadn't heard in a long time. Klezmer music dates back to at least the 14th or 15th century, and it's sound often imitates the emotions of the human voice, like sobbing or laughing. You can read more about it here.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Klezmer

This Klezmer arrangement sounds somewhat plaintiff to me, like sobbing.

While this one, from a group in Dublin, sounds more upbeat and happy, and meant for dancing and rejoicing.

I guess Klezmer could be considered a form of Jewish jazz. Laughing I find it an interesting ethnic sound.

For Raymond Chandler's birthday, how about some Mysteries.

Riddle for the day:

My tines be long,
My tines be short,
My tines end ere
You hear report.

What am I?

If you can guess the answer, we'll dedicate a song to you on our radio. Razz

Loved your Jewish jazz, firefly, both the Irish and the other. Thanks again.

And we all love a mystery, and that song fit perfectly.

Speaking of dedication, y'all, here's one for Urs. She loves Bruce.

Very cool, Letty! Thank you! The Seeger Sessions are so different - we bought the CD two years agon in Sweden and listened to it driving around the country. It fit perfectly!

Delighted that you liked it, Urs. Hope you enjoyed your visit to Sweden and glad that you are safely back.

Incidentally, folks, the answer to the riddle is LIGHTNING. Knocked us off the air for a little bit.

"...and as the King was looking down; the Jester stole his mighty crown...", so let's hear one by Bob. We'll dedicate this one to our edgar.

That was beautiful, edgar. I know that Tim Hardin wrote a lot of songs that many folks think others have written. One example is the song, "If I was a Carpenter"; however, I like this version by Bobby Darin better.

Bobby Darin recorded If I Were a Carpenter, and Tim Hardin in turn recorded Darin's Simple Song of Freedom. Both wonderful songs. When I was still in my teens, I regarded Bobby Darin in a brotherly way, and determined to keep up with his life and career the same way a brother would have done. Little did I know the seriousness of his medical problems.

How about a song from a country legend who also died too young.

We've heard Seeger Sessions, and If I Were a Carpenter, so what better song to listen to next than this one, written by Pete Seeger, about something a carpenter might use.

Hey, folks. We missed the puppy's song.

http://imagecache2.allposters.com/images/54/039_32855.jpg

You're right, firefly, Patsy died too young. Love that one, incidentally.

Hey, gal. I sang "If I Had a Hammer" on television. I once rewrote it to read, "If I Had a Hamster." Razz

Here's one by Gordon Lightfoot that I like. We'll dedicate this one to all the Canucks.

I used to own that poster from Butch Cassidy. I just loved looking at Paul Newman.

Think I'll say goodnight with this one. This is where I'll be.

I shall say goodnight with flowers, everyone.
