edgar, now you have me wondering. Explain who the person was that was going to dig a hole for Jerry Lee. It must represent someone who is dead, right? Good song, Texas.

dj, I really like that wind song by David Bowie. That's one of his better ones, and haunting as well. (loved your birthday song for ehBeth)

Here's one that is by three Brits, folks, including Bowie.

Back later with a goodnight song, folks.

In the Jerry Lee song, I assume the singer and the other fellow were rivals- particularly in love. I don't know about the history behind it. It may just be made up like that.

I just listened to the David Bowie song. Before now, I had only heard that one by Johnny Mathis.

Hey, RH. Love that one by George Harrison. Much better than "I Saw Her Standing There." (that was funny, edgar)

Time to snuff the candles, folks, and strangely enough, when I first heard this classical piece I had just started going steady with a man whose name was Jack Nicholson. He was a life guard at a popular lake and taught me to do a swan dive. He really played this one quite well.

Did you know Chuck Berry originally wrote Maybelline to be about a cow. The studio producer or somebody got him to change it.

Edit: According to Wickepedia, it is a rewriting of Bob Wills' Ida Red. I will investigate further.

I'm a plumb fool 'bout Ida Red

Lamp on the table, picture on the wall
There's a pretty soul and that's not all
If I'm not mistaken and I'm sure I'm right
There's somebody else in the parlour tonight

Chicken in a bread bin pickin' out dough
Granny whatta ya know about Ohio ?
Hurry up boys and don't fool around
Grab your partner and truck on down

My ol' Missus swore to me
When she died she'd set me free
She lived so long her head got bald
She took a notion not to die at all

Lamp on the table, picture on the wall
There's a pretty soul and that's not all
If I'm not mistaken and I'm sure I'm right
There's somebody else in the parlour tonight

When I went to buy a collection of Chuck Berry's best songs, all that was available for several years was a few collections of re-recordings. I persisted, though, and eventually got what I wanted.

Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

Thanks, RH, DJ, and Edgar for the great songs last evening. I think that most of us agree that Hank Williams, Sr. was a better poet than a vocalist, and you are right, DJ, H.W.III was a lot like his grandfather.

Today is Brian Wilson's birthday, and his life was rather sad as was Dennis Wilson's, but let's not go into that, y'all.

Interesting, edgar, that Chuck wrote that song about a cow. Love it!

Here's a tribute to Brian:

Odd, edgar. I was recalling The Beach Boys and then you play The Beatles. This is going to be a different day, Texas.

Helter Skelter (book)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This article is about a book on the Manson Family crimes.
Helter Skelter is a true crime book by Vincent Bugliosi and Curt Gentry. The subject of the book is the 1969 Manson Family murders and Bugliosi's own prosecution of Charles Manson and his followers.

Helter Skelter was first published in the United States in 1974 and became a bestseller. The book takes its title from the song by The Beatles, with which Manson was obsessed. Manson used the phrase for an anticipated race war. Helter Skelter won a 1975 Edgar Award for Best Fact Crime book and was the basis for two movies, released in 1976 and 2004.

Dennis Wilson was involved with Charles Manson.

I have a thread running, about Susan Atkins, one of Manson's followers. Her condition is terminal, and she wants to be released from prison. I don't think it's gonna happen.

As for Beach Boys music, I am unable to appreciate their sound.

I noticed that about Susan Atkins, edgar. I didn't participate because I am "too full of the milk of human kindness." Of course, had one of my kin been a victim, I might look at things differently.

Odd, folks, I have searched several sites that proclaim celebrity birthdays, and notice that different ones have been listed.

According to Wikipedia, today is Jacques Offenbach's birthday, so let's hear one from this very talented classical composer.
