There was a whole series of "flying saucer" recordings in the 50s. This one was not the big hit that the original was. I have only heard it a couple of times.

Great contributions, Ragman and edgar.

I recall Jonathan Winters doing a flying saucer routine.

Little green man: Take me to your leader!
Jonathan: I didn't know who my leader was.

That fits today, doesn't it.

Here's one by Joni that I like. I was reminded of her when I listened to Neil Young.

Breaking news from the Cape.

Shuttle returns to Earth after 14-day mission
By MARCIA DUNN, AP Aerospace Writer 33 minutes ago

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - Shuttle Discovery and its crew of seven returned to Earth on Saturday and capped a successful expansion job at the international space station, more spacious and robust thanks to a new billion-dollar science lab.
The shuttle descended through a slightly cloudy sky and landed at 11:15 a.m., under the control of commander Mark Kelly.
"Beautiful landing, Mark, and congratulations on a great mission," Mission Control radioed when Discovery came to a safe stop.
"Great to be back," Kelly replied.
Discovery's mission spanned 14 days, 217 orbits and 5.7 million miles, and was described by NASA as being about as smooth as it gets.
Kelly and his crew accomplished everything they set out to do in orbit. They delivered and installed Japan's Kibo lab, now the space station's biggest room and most sophisticated science workshop, and dropped off a new pump that the two Russians on board used to fix their toilet.

Strange. I didn't hear the sonic boom!

Thank you, RH, for posting the Bella Morte videos.
We talked about whether it was appropriate for WA2K. Andy, the singer, works in my art supply store as one of my managers. All of the other guys in the band have worked for me as yardboys at the townhouse complex I developed.
I was recognized as being the most Goth-friendly employer in Cville in 2006.
Yes, Letty, the sound is "gloomy" or dark. Andy has moved the sound away from where it had been a few years ago, which was even more morose. As I understand it, Goth or Industrial music traces its roots to disenfranchised kids in gritty and dreary European inner cities.
Sadly, a few of lonely and bitter kids here and elsewhere, labeled as Goth by the media and dressed all in black, have shot up schools.
Somewhere on their website is an interview with Andy where he talks about all that.
They are off on a nationwide tour next week. 25 shows in something like 27 nights.
Thank you for letting us put this up. It ain't your parents' kind of music.

John of Virginia, we're not too hampered by the FCC. I rather like the contrast, actually, and had no idea the young man worked for you. Incidentally, honey, you can always put your link on the profile page.

Well, RJB, this ain't exactly our Cavaliers, but it's cute.

Play the above first, then imagine a late night ride in the wide open country, two tired young men, and the radio goes dead. Five minutes later, the wailing voice of the recording breaks the stillness. My brother and I both jumped and were again wide awake.

Hey, Raggedy, how about some birthday pictures? Razz

Damn, folks, Donald Trump looks evil, no?

edgar, I love that song, and Burl Ives ain't to bad on that one. I recall that panz mentioned it was inspired in part by the woman in a black veil who visited Rudolph Valentino's grave.

Well, it's time for me to say goodnight, and inspired by Rock's depression songs, I thought I would let George put me in a sleep mode.

The author of Earth Angel was a wonderful artist. To my knowledge, he never recorded that song, but, Jesse Belvin did record
Good Night My Love.

Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

edgar, thanks for the goodnight song and the car song, Texas. I got $20.00 worth of gas at a local filling station, and when I asked the young girl if they still charged for gas, she looked so perplexed, but the rest of the patrons broke into laughter. Kids now days need a better sense of humor.

Rock, Spike Jones is funny, and I'll drink to that song.

Happy Father's Day to all of our listeners who qualify.

Also, folks, a Happy Birthday to Grieg.
