Ah, yes, ddevil. That is one strange poem. Can you explicate it?

No luck with Bink Noll's poem and that is strange to me. This link may help.

http://www.exampleessays.com/essay_search/Omaha_Beach.html

It may also help you to put your search in the poetry forum.

From The Desert Song by Romberg, here is One Alone.

poem
I already tried there. Everything I try takes me to either there, places selling Poetry books by Bink Noll, or here. As to buying the book which contains it, I have no idea which book has the poem, and poem indicies have not been listed with the books. I have searched for it several times in the past also.

Oh yea... "In the Desert" is one of Stephen Crane's odd ones. But, I like it for it's depth. It is a deep reflection on the human condition of each of us. I am not sure if it is "postable" here? if not, I can give a reference link...

http://vmlinux.org/ilse/lit/crane.htm

Reading through the posts I was reminded of the poem...

ddevil, I have the same problem. As I suggested, try putting Lunch on Omaha Beach in the poetry forum.

To me the beast is a metaphor for people who enjoy punishing themselves. There are many folks like that in the world.

I love the line from the short story, The Scarlet Ibis, which says:

"There is within us, and with sadness I have seen it in others, a cruelty bourne by the stream of love."

Time for me to say goodnight, and I will be going to Virginia tomorrow to see my son, but I will be sure and check out in the morning.

I love this song by Nat, and so it will be my goodnight song.

and as always,

I don't follow this thread that much, but please, Letty, try again to call me when you get to VA. I would love to get together with you if you have time.

here's a venerable & melancholy song with a nightingale appearance

Sometimes I wonder why I spend
The lonely nights dreaming of a song
The melody haunts my reverie
And I am once again with you
When our love was new
And each kiss an inspiration
But that was long ago
And Now my consolation
Is in the stardust of a song

Beside a garden wall
When stars are bright
You are in my arms
The nightingale tells his fairy tale
A paradise where roses bloom
Though I dream in vain
In my heart there always will remain
My stardust melody
The memory of love's refrain

The Animals are here this morning. Careful. I could not get the leash on them.

Browsing, I discovered this Paul McCartney version of All My Trials. I was not previously aware of its existence.

Here is a goody from Buddy Holly. It was his current record on the day he died. It was the one record he made under his own name, without the Crickets.

Carl Mann was one of those artists that flashes across the screen a few times, then vanishes. I suppose Mona Lisa was his best seller.

It would be letty's fond wish that we keep the station corking along, until she gets back. And, might I say, your taste in music is impeccable this eve.

Buddy Ebsen was a dancer before he played in the Davy Crockett shows, Beverly Hillbillies and Barnaby Jones. I didn't know he recorded some songs.

Elvis Presley does Johnny Cash. Pretty entertaining. They both started out on the same label. I think they were friends.
