Loved it, Raggedy. They were both great, no? Thanks, honey.

Now, y'all, from a Florida gater to a PA puppy a song from that famous blue eyed Italian. (Those Romans roamed a lot of places, ya know)

Letty: The song is YOU!
Ethels' clothes are still being worn today and i noted the year, 1936!
I'm wearing one right now, in black, (the top, that is)! Baby, it's cold outside, 37 right now, but inside, it feels like Florida! Wow! I enjoyed that classic!

Why thank you, sista Boone.

Hey, folks, this is ladies day on WA2K, so let's hear one by George's aunts.

sisters, sisters
there were never such devoted sisters
never had to have a chaperone, no sir
I'm here to keep my eye on her

caring, sharing
every little thing that we are wearing
when a certain gentleman arrives from Rome
she wore the dress and I stayed home

all kinds of weather
we stick together
the same in the rain or sun
two different faces
but in tight places
we think and we act as one... uh-huh

those who've seen us
know that not a thing could come between us
many men have tried to split us up but no one can

lord help the mister
who comes between me and my sister
and lord help the sister who comes between me and my man

sister
sister
sister dont come between me and my man

Oh, Urs. Walter will be SOOOOOO pleased. He loves to laugh, you know, and he and Mrs. Walter often walk through the forest. Razz

As a matter of record, I'm laughing right now(thanks, I needed that)

Uncle Albert:
I love to laugh
Loud and long and clear
I love to laugh
It's getting worse ev'ry year

The more I laugh
The more I fill with glee
And the more the glee
The more I'm a merrier me
It's embarrassing!
The more I'm a merrier me!

Mary Poppins:
Some people laugh through their noses
Sounding something like this "Mmm..."
Some people laugh through their teeth goodness sake
Hissing and fizzing like snakes

Bert:
Some laugh too fast
Some only blast - ha!
Others, they twitter like birds
Then there's the kind
What can't make up their mind

Uncle Albert:
When things strike me as funny
I can't hide it inside
And squeak - as the squeakelers do
I've got to let go with a ho-ho-ho...
And a ha-ha-ha...too!

All:
We love to laugh
Loud and long and clear
We love to laugh
So ev'rybody can hear
The more you laugh
The more you fill with glee
And the more the glee
The more we're a merrier we!

But now I have to say good night - or rather, Die Ärzte are saying good night for me - Gute Nacht!

Goodnight, dear Urs. I always like the Grimm fairy tales and the Bremen Town musicians. <smile> That was a calming song so I am certain that you will sleep well. Razz

Of course, all, The Pied Piper of Hamelin wasn't bad even though it was written by a Brit.

Which reminds me, isn't there a group called the Pied Pipers?

Well, I cannot find the tube thing, so let's listen to Old Blue Eyes do one. I just found out that he did many songs with The Pied Pipers.

There Are Such Things

Writer(s): Stanley Adams, Abel Baer, George W Meyer

A heart thats true, there are such things
A dream for two, there are such things
Someone to whisper Darling you're my guiding star
Not caring what you own but just what you are

A peaceful sky, there are such things
A rainbow high where heaven sings
So have a little faith and trust in what tomorrow brings
Youll reach a star because there are such things

So have a little faith and trust in what tomorrow brings
You'll reach a star because there are such things

here is another song for WALTER - and myself - to remind us of THE OLDEN DAYS !
the title AUCH MATROSEN HABEN HEIMWEH might be translated as
SAILORS TOO GET HOMESICK

keep a good eye on the people watching the performance - germans love to move with the music .

as young fellows we called this SCHMALZ - but what did we know about GOOD music - we wanted to listen to JAZZ ! the shame of it .

and now to some REAL music !

NEVER ON SUNDAY

Quote:
Oh, you can kiss me on a Monday a Monday a Monday
is very very good
Or you can kiss me on a Tuesday a Tuesday a Tuesday
in fact I wish you would
Or you can kiss me on a Wednesday a Thursday a
Friday and Saturday is best
But never ever on a Sunday a Sunday a Sunday
cause that's my day of rest

Most anyday you can be my guest
Anyday you say but my day of rest
Just name the day that you like the best
Only stay away on my day of rest

Oh, you can kiss me on a cool day a hot day a wet day
which ever one you choose
Or try to kiss me on a grey day a May day a pay day
and see if I refuse

And if you make it on a bleake day a freak day or a week day
Well you can be my guest
But never ever on a Sunday a Sunday the one day
I need a little rest
Oh, you can kiss me on a week day a week day a week day
the day to be my guest

we saw nana moskouri perform it - we attented two of her live performances in ottawa some years ago .
it was in the days BEFORE cd's and i purchased a double album of her songs for mrs h .

hbg, your sailor song may have been smaltz, but I really enjoyed listening to that lovely woman sing the sailor song, and "Never on a Sunday" by Nana was exquisite and perfect for today. Thank you, Canada.

edgar, it is so great to hear the old ones. Johnny Ace was most definitely a precursor to modern R&B.

Folks, I love this next one as it combines the ethnicity of musicians.

Well listen here girls, I'm telling you now.
They call me lovin' Dan.
I'll rock 'em, roll 'em all night long
I'm a 60 minute man.
And if you don't believe I'm all I say,
Come up and take my hand.
As soon as I leave you go you'll cry
"Oh Yeah, he's a sixty Minute Man!"
There'll be 15 minutes of kissin',
And then you holler "Oh please don't stop!"
There'll be 15 minutes of teasin'
And 15 minutes of pleasin'
And 15 minutes of blowin' my top! MOP MOP MOP!
Well if your man ain't treatin' you right
Come up and see your Dan.
I'll rock 'em, roll 'em all night long
I'm a 60 minute man.

Now we will listen to a Japanese group do that naughty song.

One of my top favorite voices of the early R&B/Rock era, belonged to Chuck Willis.

hey, edgar. Chuck rather appeared to be East Indian in his turban with a star. Great, Texas, and thanks.

Burt Reynolds honored Charles Durning tonight with a life time achievement award. The man was a decorated hero of WWII. I had a rather lachrymose moment, I fear.

Well, it's time to say goodnight, and I thought of this song and how it exemplifies the life cycle.

TCHAIKOVSKY'S 1812 OVERTURE
an annual event at FORT HENRY (kingston) located on lake ontario
with the KINGSTON SYMPHONY and
THE FORT HENRY GUARD firing the muzzle-loaders
a lot of practicing goes into this event to get the correct timing
it ends with a big firework - and sometimes a thunderstorm
