Thank You For Being A Friend
( Andrew Gold )

Thank you for being a friend
Traveled down a road and back again
Your heart is true, you're a pal and a confidant

I'm not ashamed to say
I hope it always will stay this way
My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow

And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend

If it's a car you lack
I'd surely buy you a Cadillac
Whatever you need any time of the day or night

I'm not ashamed to say
I hope it always will stay this way
My hat is off, won't you stand up and take a bow

And when we both get older
With walking canes and hair of gray
Have no fear even though it's hard to hear
I will stand real close and say
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend
Thank you for being a friend

And when we die
And float away
Into the night
The milky way
You'll hear me call
As we ascend
I'll say your name
Then once again

Thank you for being a friend

Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

edgar, I know that theme. Golden Girls, right? Thanks, Texas.

Hope we hear about Urs today, folks.

Today is Kenny Loggins birthday, so let's hear one by him.

Whenever I call you friend
I begin to think I understand
Anything we are
You and I have always been ever and ever

I see myself within your eyes
And that's all I need to show me why
Everything I do always takes me home to you
Ever and ever

Now I know my life has given me
More than memories
Day by day we can see
In every moment there's a reason to carry on

Sweet love showin' us a heavenly light
I've never seen such a beautiful sight
Sweet love flowin' almost every night
I know forever we'll be doin' it
Sweet love showin' us a heavenly light
I've never seen such a beautiful sight
Sweet love flowin' almost every night
I know forever we'll be doin' it...right

Whenever I call you friend
I believe I've come to understand
Everywhere we are you and I were meant to be
Forever and ever

I think about the times to come
Knowin' I will be the lucky one
Ever our love will last
I always want to call you friend

Sweet love showin' us a heavenly light
Never seen such a beautiful sight
Sweet love flowin' almost every night
I know forever we'll be doin' it

Now I know my life has given me
More than memories
Day by day we can see
In every moment there's a reason to carry on

Sweet love showin' us a heavenly light
Never seen such a beautiful sight
Sweet love flowin' almost every night
I know forever we'll be doin' it doin' it

Sweet love showin' us a heavenly light
I Never seen such a beautiful sight
Sweet love flowin' almost every night
I know forever we'll be doin' it doin' it doin' it

Sweet love... Sweet love...yeah

you're the glowing light in my life
so so bright in my life

oh everything i do sends me back to you

when ever i call you friend

Oops, folks, the puppy padded in softly and I missed her montage.

Thanks, PA, and we do recall that Terry played her musical version of Beautiful Dreamer so that Joe would be calm.

I had no idea that Nicolas Cage sang, but I found this, y'all.

Ridiculous

Blasting down the highway
In my Batmobile.
You squealed in delight,
We're going to Paris.
Caught between my passport
And a rootbeer float.
I turned the car around,
Cause you made fun of me.
You tell me I'm
Ridiculous.
A clown,
So preposterous.
Who would believe the
King was the Joker,
Hiding behind
His confidence?

While that is correct, the song was a hit some years before the TV show.

No, Mr. Musicology, I didn't know that. Razz

You do know this one, right Texas?

Monday Monday, so good to me,
Monday Monday, it was all I hoped it would be
Oh Monday morning, Monday morning couldn't guarantee
That Monday evening you would still be here with me.

Monday Monday, can't trust that day,
Monday Monday, sometimes it just turns out that way
Oh Monday morning, you gave me no warning of what was to be
Oh Monday Monday, how could you leave and not take me.

Every other day, every other day,
Every other day of the week is fine, yeah
But whenever Monday comes, but whenever Monday comes
You can find me cryin' all of the time

Monday Monday, so good to me,
Monday Monday, it was all I hoped it would be
Oh Monday morning, Monday morning couldn't guarantee
That Monday evening you would still be here with me.

Every other day, every other day,

i see you are watching "youtube" .
"surprise , surprise" , as gomer pyle said
hbg

GOMER PYLE Laughing Laughing Laughing

Quote:
Who's Blue Now?
(Paul Mertz)
Transcribed from vocals by Fred Waring, Bill Townsend, Francis Foster and Fred Culley, recorded 2/14/28;
From Fred Waring, Volume 1: The Collegiate Years; Old Masters, MB126 .

Who's blue now?
You ought to know;
You made me go.
Who's blue now?
You ought to say,
You had your way.

You drifted far apart from me;
You didn't care;
You took the very heart from me,
You didn't spare me.

Who's saying,
"Oh, what a break!
What a mistake!"
Who's paying
With many a heartache?
Hate you, I don't,
Love you I won't,
Now that I'm through,
Who's blue now?
Nobody but you!

edgar, I'm glad that I'm not the only one who likes The Mammas and The Papa's. Great harmony and always in tune.

hbg, Shazam! Don't know Who's Blue Now, but I did try to find Old Blue by Jim Nabors. It is amazing to me, folks, that he looked like a dunce and had the most beautiful baritone voice.

Although this song is out of season, I thought it might be a great example Of Jim's (Gomer's) ability.

Oh holy night!
The stars are brightly shining
It is the night of dear savior's birth!
Long lay the world in sin and error pruning
Till he appear'd and the soul felts its worth
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn!

Fall on your knees
Oh hear the angel voices
Oh night divine
Oh night when christ was born
Oh night divine
Oh night divine

Bang Bang
Sonny & Cher

[Words and Music by Sony Bono]

I was five and he was six
We rode on horses made of sticks
He wore black and I wore white
He would always win the fight

Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down

Seasons came and changed the time
And I grew up, I called him mine
He would always laugh and say
"Remember when we used to play"

Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down

Now he's gone, I don't know why
And till this day, sometimes I cry
He didn't even say goodbye
He didn't take the time to lie

Bang bang, I hit the ground
Bang bang, that awful sound
Bang bang, my baby shot me down

Still getting updates from bigdice concering Urs. I know that she will be fine. Also heard from the sealpoet. That was a nice surprise, y'all.

Time for me to say goodnight, and here is a lovely way to do so.

Rich Mullins

There is something I have found
In the hush of the quieting sounds
On the falling of dusk
And the chirping of crickets
And the slowing fading distance
Of this world that's spinning 'round
It's spinning upright and then upside down
And as the night bends to cover the day with her kisses
It's like a lover's benediction
That I'm sending to you now
If it can reach past the streets of this town
Then you might hear the voice of a heart that's been lifted
By the song the night has given

Buenas noches from Nacogdoches
From me and from every star God lit in the heart
Of the heavens that hang over Texas
May your dreams find you in a tangle of fine Spanish angels
Whose halos are bright yellow roses
Buenas noches

So this is no lullaby
That I send on the wings of this night
Wings that flutter as silent as goldenrods blooming
Bursting from bud into beauty
In a way I can't describe
In a way that's so changing my life
That the holds that once held me
Have all now been loosened
And I can hear the music

Buenas noches from Nacogdoches
From me and from every star God lit in the heart
Of the heavens that hang over Texas
May your dreams find you in a tangle of fine Spanish angels
Whose halos are bright yellow roses
Buenas noches.

Rich was killed in a traffic accident.

Goodnight my friends.

Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

Oops, missed edgar's Sonny and Cher song. Thanks, Texas.

Well, well, folks. Today is the "King's" birthday. So, in memory of Elvis, here is today's song, and one of my favorites.

Wise men say only fools rush in
But I cant help falling in love with you
Shall I stay
Would it be a sin
If I cant help falling in love with you

Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
Some things are meant to be

Take my hand, take my whole life too
For I cant help falling in love with you

Like a river flows surely to the sea
Darling so it goes
Some things are meant to be
Take my hand, take my whole life too
For I cant help falling in love with you
For I cant help falling in love with you

Great collage, Raggedy. That was my favorite song by Elvis, puppy.

Hey, folks, I love this one by David Bowie.

David Bowie - Underground Lyrics

No one can blame you
For walking away.
Too much rejection.
No love injection.

Life can't be easy.
It's not always swell.
Don't tell me truth hurts, little girl,
'Cause it hurts like hell,

But down in the underground
You'll find someone true.
Down in the underground;
A land serene;
A crystal moon.
Ah..

It's only forever.
Not long at all.
Lost and lonely.
That's underground.
Underground.

Daddy, daddy, get me out of here.
Heard about a place to stay.
I, I'm underground.
Nothing ever hurts again.
Heard about a place to stay.
Daddy, get me out of here
Where nothing ever hurts again.
Daddy, daddy, get me out of here
I, I'm underground.
Sister, sister, please take me down.
I, I'm underground.
Daddy, daddy, get me out of here.

No one can blame you
For walking away.
Too much rejection.
No love injection.

Down in the underground
You'll find someone true.
Down in the underground;
A land serene;
A crystal moon.
Ah..

It's only..
It's only forever.
It's not long at all.
Lost and lonely.
That's underground.
Underground.

Daddy, daddy, get me out of here.
Heard about a place to stay.
Nothing never hurts again.
Daddy, daddy, get me out of here.
I'm, I'm underground.
Sister, sister, please take me down.
I'm, I'm underground.
Daddy, daddy, get me out.
Wanna live underground.
Wanna live underground.
Wanna live underground.
Wanna live underground.
Wanna live underground.
Wanna live underground.
Wanna live underground.
Wanna live underground.
Daddy, daddy, get me out of here.
I'm, I'm underground.
Sister, sister please take me down.
I'm, I'm underground.
I, I'm underground.
I, I'm underground.
Daddy, daddy, get me..
Daddy, daddy, get me..
Wanna live underground..
Sister, sister, take me down.

here's one of my 2 fave Elvis recordings:

Oh well, I'm tired and so weary
But I must go alone
Till the Lord comes and calls, calls me away, oh yes
Well the morning's so bright
And the lamp is alight
And the night, night is as black as the sea, oh yes

There will be peace in the valley for me, some day
There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray
There'll be no sadness, no sorrow
No trouble, trouble I see
There will be peace in the valley for me, for me

Well the bear will be gentle
And the wolves will be tame
And the lion shall lay down by the lamb, oh yes
And the beasts from the wild
Shall be led by a child
And I'll be changed, changed from this creature that I am, oh yes

There will be peace in the valley for me, some day
There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray
There'll be no sadness, no sorrow
No trouble, trouble I see
There will be peace in the valley for me, for me

Hey, M.D. I was concerned about you and JM. Glad all is well, honu.
I know Peace in the Valley, but I had no idea that the King did it. Thanks, island man.

Did you ever meet Jim Nabors? He lives in Hawaii. Razz

Raggedy mentioned that Shirley had done three of the James Bond themes, and I think this was from Sean's very first role.

Goldfinger.
He's the man, the man with the mildest touch
A spider's touch
Such a cold finger
Beckons you to enter his web of sin
But don't go in
Golden words he will pour in your ear, but
his lies can't disguise what
you fear
For a golden girl knows when he's kissed her
it's the kiss of death, from Mr.
Goldfinger

Pretty girl beware of this heart of gold.
This heart is cold.
Golden words he will paw in your ear, but
his lies can't disguise what
you fear. For a golden girl knows when he's
kissed her, it's the kiss of
death, from Mr. Goldfinger. Pretty girl,
beware of his heart of gold.
This heart is cold.
He loves only gold.
Only gold.
He loves gold.
He loves only gold.
Only gold.
He loves gold.

Ok, listeners, it's dedication time. The following song is for JLNobody, because at one time he thought that I wrote it. Razz

Don McLean

Starry
starry night
portraits hung in empty halls

frameless heads on nameless walls
with eyes
that watch the world and can't forget.
Like the stranger that you've met

the ragged men in ragged clothes

the silver thorn of bloddy rose
lie crushed and broken
on the virgin snow.
And now I think I know what you tried to say to me

how you suffered for your sanity

how you tried to set them free.
They would not listen
they're not
list'ning still
perhaps they never will.

Elvis Presley - Suspicious Minds

We're caught in a trap
I can't walk out
Because I love you too much baby

Why can't you see
What you're doing to me
When you don't believe a word I say?

We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds

So, if an old friend I know
Drops by to say hello
Would I still see suspicion in your eyes?

Here we go again
Asking where I've been
You can't see these tears are real
I'm crying

We can't go on together
With suspicious minds
And we can't build our dreams
On suspicious minds

Oh let our love survive
Or dry the tears from your eyes
Let's don't let a good thing die

When honey, you know
I've never lied to you
Mmm yeah, yeah

you know, edgar, I didn't like Elvis for a long time, but, as is the case when we keep an open mind about music and performers, we find that we change. There is a person in our forum who wanted to know about music and emotion. I have such a different mindset concerning that philosophy.

Led Zepplin(they performed this with Ragland Castle in the background.

Theres a lady whos sure
All that glitters is gold
And shes buying a stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows
If the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh, ooh, and shes buying a stairway to heaven.

Theres a sign on the wall
But she wants to be sure
cause you know sometimes words have two meanings.
In a tree by the brook
Theres a songbird who sings,
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misgiven.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it makes me wonder.

Theres a feeling I get
When I look to the west,
And my spirit is crying for leaving.
In my thoughts I have seen
Rings of smoke through the trees,
And the voices of those who standing looking.
Ooh, it makes me wonder,
Ooh, it really makes me wonder.

And its whispered that soon
If we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason.
And a new day will dawn
For those who stand long
And the forests will echo with laughter.

If theres a bustle in your hedgerow
Dont be alarmed now,
Its just a spring clean for the may queen.
Yes, there are two paths you can go by
But in the long run
Theres still time to change the road youre on.
And it makes me wonder.

Your head is humming and it wont go
In case you dont know,
The pipers calling you to join him,
Dear lady, can you hear the wind blow,
And did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind.

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul.
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How evrything still turns to gold.
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last.
When all are one and one is all
To be a rock and not to roll.

And shes buying a stairway to heaven.
