Raggedy, that is the most amazing information that I have ever read. You filled in so many blank spaces for me and all our listeners.
UhOh, folks, Houdini died on my birthday.
Yes, Osso. I agree, but I was more interested in your take on the fantastic sketches, so much better than just names on a memorial.
Here you go, Osso.
Sorry I couldn't find a good pic of him on his bike:
Letty: Your birthday is November 7??????
Raggedy, Halloween! The same as Houdini's death and the subsequent seances.
Oops. Of course. I had Steve McQueen on my mind.
So Letty shares a birthday with Jan Vermeer; John Keats, Chiang Kai-Shek, Ethel Waters, Lee Grant and Tom Paxton to name a few.
and, Raggedy, with a teller at my local branch bank.
Here's another bit of coincidence, listeners.
Last night I forced myself to stay awake and watch an episode of Law &Order: Criminal Intent. It was all about the secrets behind the life of a famous architect. Rather surprising, no, Osso?
Letty--fondness
Raggedyaggie--pleasant
Weird, Maureen (my first) popping into my head that way. She was unique. One of my favorite stories of her was when I was meeting her at the library. I was there first and was sitting there reading when she walked in. She looked around for a while then left. I replaced the book and followed her out. When she turned around and saw me she said "Oh! That was you." I didn't realize her eyesight was so poor. So I asked her how she crossed streets. She told me she waited for the noise to die down, then ran.
I'll remember you
Bob Dylan
I'll remember you
When I've forgotten all the rest,
You to me were true,
You to me were the best.
When there is no more,
You cut to the core
Quicker than anyone I knew.
When I'm all alone
In the great unknown,
I'll remember you.
I'll remember you
At the end of the trail,
I had so much left to do,
I had so little time to fail.
There's some people that
You don't forget,
Even though you've only seen'm
One time or two.
When the roses fade
And I'm in the shade,
I'll remember you.
Didn't I, didn't I try to love you?
Didn't I, didn't I try to care?
Didn't I sleep, didn't I weep beside you
With the rain blowing in your hair?
I'll remember you
When the wind blows through the piney wood.
It was you who came right through,
It was you who understood.
Though I'd never say
That I done it the way
That you'd have liked me to.
In the end,
My dear sweet friend,
I'll remember you.
Hey Letty! I am a professional DJ and comedy writer! Surely you can find a lucrative position for me!
Nick, Welcome to our studio, honey. We can use another good writer and dj. Heh! Heh! Don't know how lucrative this job will be, however.
Ah, Bob, what delightful memories. What happened to your librarian? She sounds as though she had a great sense of the ridiculous. <smile>
Your tribute to her was lovely, and made me think of my first REAL love, but here's a tribute to your memory:
I remember you,
You're the one that made my dreams come true
A few kisses ago..
I remember you,
You're the one that said, "I love you too,
Didn't you know?"
I remember too
A distant bell,
And stars that fell
Like rain, out of the blue..
When my life is through
And the angels ask me to recall
The thrill of them all,
I shall tell them I remember you.
I remember you,
You're the one that made my dreams come true,
A few kisses ago..
I remember you,
You're the one that said, "I love you too,
Didn't you know?"
I remember too
A distant bell,
And stars that fell
Like rain, out of the blue..
When my life is through
And the angels ask me to recall
The thrill of them all,
I shall tell them I remember you.
Oh, you..
Oh, you..
You..
Incidentally, Nick. In response to Bob's horizonal remark, I've known several disc jockeys who slept on the studio sofa.
I Remember You with a Yodely Yodel Yoo Hoo - Slim Whitman style.
Raggedy, "Mars Attacks" was one funny movie.
When McTag and I were discussing Great Depression music, I thought of this one:
MICHAEL BUBLE LYRICS
"Try A Little Tenderness"
I may get weary
Women do get weary
Wearing the same shabby dress
But to one who's weary
Try a little tenderness
She may be waiting
Just anticipating
All of the things
She may never possess
But while she's waiting
Try a little tenderness
I may be sentimental
But i've had my griefs
And my cares
And just a good word
Soft and gentle
Makes it, makes it
So much easier to bear
She might forget it
Oh but don't let her forget it
Love's got a whole
A whole happiness
'cause it's so easy
Try a little tenderness
Oh it's so very easy
It's so very easy
Try a little
Try a little
Try a little
Try a little
Try a little
Try a little, try a little
Won't you
'cause it's so very easy
So very easy
Won't you try
Yes, I'll try
Try a little tender -
Tender -
-ness
I'll try a little tenderness
A mite different from those of Frank Sinatra, but.........................
Oh, I forgot about "Mars Attacks". (lol) I have a CD of Slim Whitman and "I Remember You" is one of the songs.
Boy! Those memories of so long ago. I was still in my teens. I used to change her name to Mavourneen which meant little darling. She was Irish with that pale skin and red hair. The first time I met her She was with a mutual friend. After being introduced, she walked around me then looked me in the eyes and said "You fascinate me." I was sunk.

(The sweet, sweet memories you've given me
You can't beat the memories you've given me)
Take one fresh and tender kiss,
Add one stolen night of bliss,
One girl; one boy; some grief; some joy:
Memories are made of this.
Don't forget a small moonbeam.
Fold it lightly with a dream.
Your lips and mine,
Two sips of wine:
Memories are made of this.
Then add the wedding bells;
One house where lovers dwell;
Three little kids for the flavor.
Stir carefully through the days ~
See how the flavor stays.
These are the dreams you will savor.
With His blessings from above,
Serve it generously with love.
One man, one wife,
One love, through life:
Memories are made of this.
Well, listeners, you have heard the rest, now try the best, and it's here on WA2K, radio.
Share your memories with us.
Bob, I swear I won't do the lyrics to Teenager in Love.
Thank you! Thank you! Blows her a kiss.
Caught it, Bob.
Hey, listeners. I just caught a kiss without a mitt, and I have never, NEVER taken steroids.
Hmmmm. Raggedy. Hope Steve McQueen didn't.
There were a lot of funny lines from Mars Attacks, but the one that got to me was Glen Close's one about the Nancy Reagan chandelier.
You Oughta Be In Pictures - Rudy Vallee
You oughta be in pictures
You're wonderful to see
You oughta be in pictures
Oh what a hit you would be
Your voice would thrill a nation
Your face would be adored
You'd make a great sensation
with wealth and fame your reward
And if you should kiss the way you kiss
When we're alone
You'd make ev'ry girl and man
A fan worshiping at your throne
You oughta shine as brightly
As Jupiter and Mars
You oughta be in pictures
My star of stars
MEDLEY (From Color Me Barbra)
*Animal crackers in my soup, monkeys and rabbits, look a loupe!
Gosh oh Gee, but I have fun swallowing animals one by one
In every bowl of soup I see lions and tigers watching me
I'll make ?'em jump right through a hoop
'Cause animal crackers in my soup!
When I get hold of the big bad wolf
I just push him under to drown
Then I bite him in a millions bits and I gabble him right down
*I love your funny face your sunny, funny face
Though you're no handsome Henry
Four words I'd not replace, your sunny funny face...
*That face, that wonderful face
It shines, it glows all over the place
And how I love to watch it change expressions
Each look becomes the prize of my possession
*I love your eyes, your cheeks, your hair
They're in a class beyond compare
It's the loveliest face that one could see...
*Were thine that special face
Were thine the forms so live so splendor
Were thine the arms so warm so tender
Were thine the kiss divine
*I was so really independent and content before we met
Surely I can always be that way again and yet
I've grown accustomed to the trace of something in the air
Accustomed to the wonderful fabulous marvelous glorious...
*Let's face the music and dance...
*You made the cope and vest fit the best
You made the linen nice and strong
But Sam, you made the pants too long
You made the pick lapel look so oh swell
So who am I to say you're wrong?
But Sam, you made the pants too long!
They got the belt and they got suspenders
So what can they lose?
What good a belt and what good suspenders
When the pants are hanging over the shoes
You feel the winter breeze up and down the knees
The belt is where the tie belongs
But Sam, Sam, Sam, you made the pants too long!
*Pussycat, pussycat, I love you, yes, I do
You and your pussycat...
*We have so much in common Yes I do
It's a phenomenon
We could pull our resources by joining forces
From now on...
*It's spring again
And birds on the wing again
Start to sing again that old melody
*I wanted the music to play on forever
Have I stayed too long at the fair?
I wanted the clown to be constantly clever
Have I stayed too long at the fair?
I brought me blue ribbons to tie up my hair
But I couldn't find anybody to care
The merry-go-round is beginning to slow now
Have I stayed too long at the fair?
There is nothing to win,
And there's no one to want me...
*Look at that face, just look at it
Look at that fabulous face of yours
I knew first look I took at it
This was the face that the world adores
Look at these eyes as wise and as deep as the sea
Look at that nose, it shows what a nose should be
As for ,your smile it's lyrical
Friendly and warm as the summer's day
Your face is just a miracle
Where could I ever find words to say
The way that it makes me happy
Whatever the time or place
I will find in no book
What I will find when I look at your face!
