Good afternoon, pup. Thanks again for the quartet and we know them all. Just can't put that Buscemi guy together.

Wonder if our listeners remember this song from "chitty chatty bing bang" Razz

gentle breeze from Hushabye Mountain
Softly blows o'er lullaby bay.
It fills the sails of boats that are waiting--
Waiting to sail your worries away.
It isn't far to Hushabye Mountain
And your boat waits down by the key.
The winds of night so softly are sighing--

Soon they will fly your troubles to sea.
So close your eyes on Hushabye Mountain.
Wave good-bye to cares of the day.
And watch your boat from Hushabye Mountain
Sail far away from lullaby bay.

WAY DOWN YONDER IN NEW ORLEANS
(from the ten cd-set i just bought myself in toronto)

Quote:
Way down yonder in new orleans
In the land of the dreamy scenes
There's a garden of eden...you know what I mean

Creole babies with flashin' eyes
Softly whisper their tender sighs
Then stop....won't you give your lady fair...a little smile
Stop..ya bet your life you'll linger there...a little while

We've got heaven right here on earth
With those beautiful queens

[Way Down Yonder in New Orleans

Way down yonder in new...orleans

(instrumental break)

You're gonna find heaven right here on earth
With all them beautiful queens
Way down yonder in new or.....

I goin' down yonder to new orleans

It's way down yonder in new orleans

Great, hbg. Louis is one we all know. Incidentally, I can no longer do the picture connection; sorry Canada. Maybe things will work out later.

That song that I did was by Dick Van Dyke. What a great guy.

Here's another by Sachmo, folks.

Do you know what it means to miss new orleans
And miss it each night and day
I know i'm not wrong... this feeling's gettin' stronger
The longer, i stay away
Miss them moss covered vines...the tall sugar pines
Where mockin' birds used to sing
And i'd like to see that lazy mississippi...hurryin' into spring

The moonlight on the bayou.......a creole tune.... that fills the air
I dream... about magnolias in bloom......and i'm wishin' i was there

Do you know what it means to miss new orleans
When that's where you left your heart
And there's one thing more...i miss the one i care for
More than i miss new orleans

(instrumental break)

The moonlight on the bayou.......a creole tune.... that fills the air
I dream... about magnolias in bloom......and i'm wishin' i was there

Do you know what it means to miss new orleans
When that's where you left your heart
And there's one thing more...i miss the one i care for
More.....more than i miss.......new orleans

Hey, Louis. I know what it means to miss magnolias.

how about JUMPING FOR JOY - (attributed to WILSON/SAMSON) and played here by BENNY CARTER

http://www.nojcnc.org/images/BennieCarter.jpg

Quote:
I wanna scream
I wanna jump for joy and I want everyone to know
I wanna scream
I wanna jump for joy, I gotta let the whole world know
Jump for joy
Jump for joy
Jump for joy
Jump for joy
Everybody jump jump
Jump for joy
Everybody jump jump
Everybody jump jump
Jump for joy
I wanna jump for joy; J-O-Y
'Cause Cupid shot your arrow in the sky
You know the feeling, jumping and screaming
Here comes the angels, marked by demons
You must be dreaming, your heart is steaming
Forget the pain and start believing
Peace and love surrounding Earth
Respect to my mum who gave me birth
Butterfies are moving fast
Is this the last love, the look of last
Heavier as ever, rhymes are quite clever
Respect to the world it's time for whatever
Stimulate the feeling that you got inside
Hold me down so we can take a ride
Hoaw my month for you to enjoy
Wave your hands in the air and jump for joy!
Jump for joy
Jump for joy
Jump for joy
Jump for joy
Jump for joy!!
I wanna jump for joy, jump for joy
Everybody jump jump
Everybody jump jump
Jump for joy
Everybody jump jump
Jump for joy
Jump for joy
Jump for joy

Well, hbg. This may work, and then again with my luck, it probably won't.

Attempted to do a picture of Old Blue Eyes, but no show, folks.

I think I should call it a day.

From Frank and me

Some like a night at the movies, some like a dance or a show
Some are content with an evening spent home by the radio
Some like to live for the moment, some like to just reminisce
But whenever I have an evening to spend. just give me one like this

This is a lovely way to spend an evening. can't think of anything I'd rather do
This is a lovely way to spend an evening, can't think of anyone as lovely as you
A casual stroll through a garden. a kiss by a lazy lagoon
Catching a breath of moonlight, humming our favorite tune
This is a lovely way to spend an evening
I want to save all my nights and spend them with you
Catching a breath of moonlight, humming our favorite tune

This is a lovely way to spend an evening
I want to save all my nights and spend them with you

Goodnight

"In a tiny piece of colored glass
My love was born
And reds and golds and yellows
Were the colors in the dawn
Night brought on its purple cloak
Of velvet to the sky
And the girls were wheeling, spinning
On jersey Thursday
In a tiny piece of colored glass
My love was born
And reds and golds and yellows
Were the colors in the dawn
Night brought on its purple cloak
Of velvet to the sky
And the girls were wheeling, spinning

Good morning, WA2K audience. I can tell it's going to be one of those days, folks.

Thanks, edgar, for the great Donovan song, and our puppy is up early today with a great quartet of famous faces.

Here's one by Charlie

The Most Beautiful Girl

Hey, did you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world?
And if you did, was she crying, crying?
Hey, if you happen to see the most beautiful girl that walked out on me
Tell her, "I'm sorry."
Tell her, "I need my baby."
Oh.... Won't you tell her that I love her.

I woke up this morning and realized what I had done
I stood alone in the cold gray dawn
I knew I'd lost my morning sun
I lost my head and I said some things
Now come the heartaches that morning brings
I know I'm wrong and I couldn't see
I let my world slip away from me
So.......

( break )

Hey, did you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world?
And if you did, was she crying, crying?
Hey, if you happen to see the most beautiful girl that walked out on me
Tell her, "I'm sorry."
Tell her, "I need my baby."
Oh.... Won't you tell her that I love her.

If you happen to see the most beautiful girl that walked out on me
Tell her, "I'm sorry."
Tell her, "I need my baby."
Oh.... Won't you tell her that I love her

here's an all-time fave by Charlie Rich (i especially love the piano part, i presume by Floyd Cramer)

My baby makes me proud
Lord, don't she make me proud
She never makes a scene
By hanging all over me in a crowd
'Cause people like to talk
Lord, don't they love to talk
But when they turn out the lights
I know she'll be leaving with me

And when we get behind closed doors
Then she lets her hair hang down
And she makes me glad that I'm a man
Oh, no-one knows what goes on behind closed doors

My baby makes me smile
Lord, don't she make me smile
She's never far away
Or too tired to say: "I want you"
She's always a lady, just like a lady should be
But when they turn out the lights
She's still a baby to me

'Cause when we get behind closed doors
Then she lets her hair hang down
And she makes me glad that I'm a man
Oh, no-one knows what goes on behind closed doors
Behind closed doors

UPDATE: (correction): it was "Pig" Robbins on piano, not Floyd Cramer. i'll have to research Pig Robbins & the Nashville A-team later on. Embarrassed

Hey, big island man. Great song. Thanks, honu; however, the best laid plans of turtles and men(women as well) often fall flat. Sorry Bobby Burns.

Can't ignore Spike, right folks?

You can look this wide world over,
You can search both land and sea,
but you'll never find another man like me.
If you listen to my story I will tell you who I am,
I'm the greatest man in Siam, yes I am.
I'm the greatest man in Siam, yes I am.
There's no greater man in Siam than I am.
Oh, when I go walking by the women all give me the eye,
I'm the greatest man in Siam, yes I am.
Oh no you ain't! Oh yes I am!
Oh no you ain't! Oh yes I am!
I'm the greatest man in Siam, yes I am.
Why, I've got sixteen double chins,
I'm father of Siamese twins,
I'm the greatest man in Siam, yes I am.

I'm the fastest man in Siam, yes I am.
There's no faster man in Siam than I am.
Lightning don't scare me a bit,
'Cause I can dodge before I'm hit.
I'm the fastest man in Siam, yes I am.
Oh no you ain't! Oh yes I am!
Oh no you ain't! Oh yes I am!
I'm the fastest man in Siam, yes I am.
When I call on my sweetheart,
I get there long before I'm start.
'Cause I'm the fastest man in Siam, yes I am.

I'm the richest man in Siam, yes I am.
There's no richer man in Siam than I am.
I wear diamonds on my nose,
and platinum toe nails on my toes.
I'm the richest man in Siam, yes I am.
Oh no you ain't! Oh yes I am!
Oh no you ain't! Oh, what's happening?
I'm the richest man in Siam, yes I am.
I've got castles filled with gold,
liquor 99 years old,
I'm the richest man in Siam, yes I am.

Lyric Title: Meet Me At The Copa
Sung By: Frank Sinatra

Quote:
The statue in the harbor is a lovely sight,
The Rockettes in precision are a sheer delight,
But I for one would rather visit John McKnight,
Meet me at the Copa, meet me at the Copa,
Meet me at the Copa tonight.
There are those who just adore the Art Museum,
And out in Brooklyn, there's a ballpark and a team,
But I don't care a whole lot if I never see 'em,
Meet me at the Copa, meet me at the Copa,
Meet me at the Copa tonight.
The show goes on, and on, and on,
Do you hear the applause and the cheering?
Even if you're wooing, drop what you're doing,
Hurry down to see what you're hearing.
On 52nd street, they now have burleque,
Or you can climb the Empire State to see the view,
But all that stuff's for squares, here's my advice to you,
Meet me at the Copa, meet me at the Copa,
Meet me at the Copa tonight.

Now some of you may like to go to movie shows,
Or walk along Fifth Avenue to view the clothes,
But here's the place that's famous for Durante's nose,
Meet me at the Copa, meet me at the Copa,
Meet me at the Copa tonight.
You'll see the nicest people in the nicest cars,
They've come to see the lounge, the club, the lovely bars,
And it's the spot where stars come just to see the stars,
Meet me at the Copa, meet me at the Copa,
Meet me at the Copa tonight.
The show goes on, and on, and on,
Do you hear the applause and the cheering?
Even if you're wooing, drop what you're doing,
Hurry down and see what you're hearing.
The most amazing club in town you will admit,
It's imitated quite a lot but this is it.
And if you want to see where all the new acts hit,
Meet me at the Copa, meet me at the Copa,
Meet me at the Copa tonight.

Hey, hbg. I'm in. Dutch treat? Razz

Well, this version is by Shirley Bassey, but I like it. We'll dedicate this one to our Lola.

(Copa, Copacabana)
(Copa, Copacabana)
(Copa, Copacabana)
(Copa)

Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl
With yellow feathers in her hair
And her dress cut down to there
She would merengue and do the cha-cha
And while she tried to be a star, Tony always tended bar
Across the crowded floor, they worked from eight til four
They were young, and they had each other
Who could ask for more?

At the Copa, Copacabana
The hottest spot north of Havana
At the Copa, Copacabana
Music and passion were always the fashion
At the Copa, she fell in love

His name was Rico, he wore a diamond
He was escorted to his chair, he saw Lola dancin' there
And when she finished, he called her over
But Rico went a bit too far, Tony sailed across the bar
And then the punches flew, and chairs were smashed in two
There was blood and a single gun shot
But just who shot who?

At the Copa, Copacabana
The hottest spot north of Havana
At the Copa, Copacabana
Music and passion were always the fashion
At the Copa, she lost her love
(Copa, Copacabana)
(Copa)

(Copa, Copacabana)
(Copa)

Her name is Lola, she was a showgirl
But that was thirty years ago
When they used to have a show
Now it's the disco, but not for Lola
Still in the dress she used to wear, faded feathers in her hair
She sits there so refined, and drinks herself half-blind
She lost her youth and she lost her Tony
Now she's lost her mind!

At the Copa, Copacabana
The hottest spot north of Havana
At the Copa, Copacabana
Music and passion were always the fashion
At the Copa, don't fall in love
(Copa, Copacabana)
(Copa, Copacabana)

Don't fall in love
Don't fall in love
Don't fall in love
Don't fall in love
(Copa, Copacabana)
(Copa, Copacabana)
Don't fall in love
(Copa, Copacabana)
(Copa, Copacabana)
(Copa, Copacabana)
(Copa, Copacabana)
(Copa, Copacabana)

George Harrison/Beatles

I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
I look at the floor and I see it needs sweeping
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don't know why nobody told you how to unfold your love
I don't know how someone controlled you
They bought and sold you.

I look at the world and I notice it's turning
While my guitar gently weeps
With every mistake we must surely be learning
Still my guitar gently weeps
I don't know how you were diverted
You were perverted too
I don't know how you were inverted
No one alerted you.

I look at you all see the love there that's sleeping
While my guitar gently weeps
Look at you all . . .
Still my guitar gently weeps.

earlier, i got Floyd Cramer confused with Hargus "Pig" Robbins. here's a great Patsy Cline recording that featured great piano work by Cramer: (incidentally, Bob Dylan admirers might take note that Mr. Robbins was the pianist on Dylan's Blonde on Blonde LP)

Crazy, I'm crazy for feeling so lonely
I'm crazy, crazy for feeling so blue
I knew you'd love me as long as you wanted
And then someday you'd leave me for somebody new
Worry, why do I let myself worry?
Wond'ring what in the world did I do?
Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you

Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying and crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you.

Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

edgar, "While my Guitar Gently Weeps" really creates an image in our minds. Love it, Texas, and thanks.

Mr. Honu, what a great bit of musicology, and we all know Patsy, methinks.

Here's a morning song by America.

Think I'll write a different song
Got a feeling it might take a long time
Singin' it over again, I can't recall just how it used to be
Voices across the sea
Mm, mm, mm.

Will she come to me, to keep me company
Won't know till the sun comes up again

Gotta take the good with the bad
Sometimes I wish I never had my say
Always goes that way, or is it just the way I feel today?
Voices across the way
Mm, mm, mm.

Will she come to me, to keep me company
Won't know till the sun comes up again
Won't know till the sun comes up again
Won't know till the sun comes up again
Won't know till the sun comes up again
Won't know till the sun comes up again
Won't know till the sun comes up again

Good morning, Raggedy. Great trio today, PA, and thanks.

Here's one by Don Johnson. Didn't even know he sang.

I don't care what you say
you can give it away
Your money don't mean much to me.
I've been out on my own
gonna go it alone now
'Cause that's the way it's got to be.
Ev'rybody tells me how I can beat the odds for now.
Well
I've been standing by the fire
but I just can't feel the heat.

Heartbeat - I'm looking for a heartbeat

Heartbeat - I'm looking for a heartbeat
beating like mine.

Looking at me
it's easy to see
You think you know iust how I feel.
If you do to me wrong and it won't take me long
Before my restless heart will heal.

I'm looking for a love
love like mine
They tell me it's so hard to find
But I can feel it in the rhythm of the heartbeat in the street.

Heartbeat - I'm looking for a heartbeat

Heartbeat - I'm looking for a heartbeat

Beating like mine
beating like mine.
Tell me what you feel now without the heartbeat

Tell me is it real now without the heartbeat?

Heartbeat - I'm looking for a heartbeat
