Hello there, you pretty puppy. A great trio today, honey. We're looking at Senta, Richie, and Mary. Thanks, PA. Yes, the movie is now on DVD. My daughter rented it so that we could have a brief diversion from all the chaos.

How about one that is so familiar to us from Richie, listeners.

La Bamba

Para bailar la bamba
Para bailar la bamba
Se necesita una poca de gracia
Una poca de gracia pa'mí y pa' ti
Ay Arriba y arriba
Ay arriba y arriba por ti seré
Por ti seré
Por ti seré

Yo no soy marinero,
Yo no soy marinero
Soy capitan
Soy capitan
Soy capitan
Bamba, Bamba
Bamba, Bamba
Bamba, Bamba

I just found out that La Bamba is a dance. <smile>

Thanks Letty. If "Infamous" is out on DVD, it will be on cable soon and I'll
catch it then.

I just watched part of Thunderball with Sean Connery and saw something I never noticed never before. In an underwater scene where the good guys are spearing the bad guys, one of the bad guys is heard grunting and groaning in pain when he's struck. Now, how can someone be heard underwater. Not that it really matters to me, because all I was interested in was Sean Connery, however..............

Very Happy Raggedy, perhaps someone here can translate "glub, glub, glub." You're right. I'd rather look at Sean as well, but dadpad ain't bad.

One more bit of good news, folks. My alligator is back, but he didn't come when I said, "Here, Anatole; hear, boy." What a crock.

So......

Well I saw my baby walkin',
With another man today,
Well I saw my baby walkin'
With another man today.
When I asked her "What's the matter?"
This is what I heard her say.
Chorus:
See you later alligator,
After 'while, crocodile.
See you later alligator,
After 'while, crocodile.
Can't you see you're in my way now?
Don't you know you cramp my style?
When I thought of what she told me,
Nearly made me lose my head,
When I thought of what she told me,
Nearly made me lose my head.
But the next time that I saw her,
Reminded her of what she said.
Repeat Chorus
She said, "I'm sorry, pretty daddy,
You know my love is just for you."
She said, "I'm sorry, pretty daddy,
You know my love is just for you,
Won't you say that you'll forgive me,
And say your love for me is true."
I said, "Wait a minute, 'gator,
I know you mean't it just for play."
I said, "Wait a minute, 'gator,
I know you mean't it just for play.
Don't you know you really hurt me,
And this is what I have to say."
Repeat Chorus
See you later alligator, after 'while crocodile,
See you later alligator,
So long, that's all,
Goodbye

WESTLIFE LYRICS

"What Becomes of the Broken Hearted"

[Shane:]
As I walk this land of broken dreams
I have visions of many things
But happiness is just an illusion
Filled with sadness and confusion

[Shane (All):]
What becomes of the broken hearted
Who have love that's now departed
I know I've got to find
Some kind of peace of mind
Maybe

[Mark (All):]
Fruits of love
Grow all around (all around)
But for me they come a-tumbling down (a-tumbling down)
Every day heart aches grow a little stronger
(Just a little stonger)
I can't stand this pain much longer
I walk in shadows searching for light (searching for light)
Cold and alone no comfort in sight
(No comfort in sight)
Hopin' and prayin' for someone to care (someone to care)
Always movin' and going nowhere

[All:]
What becomes of the broken hearted
Who have love that's now departed
I know I've got to find
Some kind of peace of mind
Help me please

[Shane:]
I'm searching though I don't succeed
(I don't succeed)
Someone's love there's a growing need
(Such a growing need)
All is lost there's no place for beginning
(No beginning)
All that's left is an unhappy ending
Unhappy ending

[Shane (All):]
Now what becomes of the broken hearted
Who have love that's now departed
I know I've got to find
Some kind of peace of mind
I'll be searching everywhere
Just to find someone to care
I'l be looking every day
I know I'm gonna find a way
Nothing's gonna stop me now
I'll find a way somehow

What becomes of the broken hearted
Who have love that's now departed
I know I've got to find
Some kind of peace of mind
Baby
Oh yeah
What becomes of the broken hearted
Who have love that's now departed
What becomes of the broken hearted
Who have love that's now departed
What becomes of the broken hearted

Well, TTH. You sent me to the archives, and I found this answer for your song, and I will dedicate it to my son:

Ev'rybody's looking for that something
One thing that makes it all complete
You'll find it in strange places
Places you never knew it could be

Some find it in the face of their children
Some find it in their lover's eyes
Who can deny the joy it brings
When you find that special thing?
You're flying without wings
Some find it sharing ev'ry morning
Some, in their solitary lives
You find it in the works of others
A simple line can make you laugh or cry

You find it in the deepest friendships
The kind you cherish all your life
And, when you know how much that means
You've found that special thing
You're flying without wings

So, impossible as it may seem
You've got to fight for every dream
'Cause who's to know
Which one you let go
Would have made you complete?

Well, for me, it's waking up beside you
To watch the sun rise on your face
To know that I can say I love you
At any given time or place

It's little things that only I know
Those are the things that make you mine
And it's like flying without wings
'Cause you're my special thing
I'm flying without wings

And you're the place my life begins
And you'll be where it ends
I'm flying without wings
And that's the joy you bring
I'm flying without wings

I'll Never Smile Again
Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra w/ Frank Sinatra

[Words and Music by Ruth Lowe]

I'll never smile again
Until I smile at you
I'll never laugh again
What good would it do
For tears would fill my eyes
My heart would realize
That our romance is through

I'll never love again
I'm so in love with you
I'll never thrill again
To somebody new
Within my heart
I know I will never start
To smile again
Until I smile at you

Well, edgar. That's one that Bud loved. Thanks, Texas. When the kids went to put flowers on the graves in Virginia, we discovered that Bud had died on his father's birthday.

Here's one for my mom on Mother's Day that she also loved.

Artist: Judy Garland
Song: Smiles

If you just stop to think, here's a lesson for you
What a word or a smile can convey
With a word you can make someone happy or blue
With a smile you can make them sad or gay

So be careful what you say
And be careful how you smile
It's so easy for us to make
Someone's life worthwhile

There are smiles, that make us happy
There are smiles, that make us blue
There are smiles, that steal away the teardrops
Like the Sunbeams steal away the dew

There are smiles, that have a tender meaning
That the eyes of love alone can see
But the smiles, that fill my life with sunshine
Are the smiles that you gave to...

But the smiles, that fill my life with sunshine
Are the smiles that you gave to me!

We went to the veterans cemetery this afternoon. My father in law and a man I worked with for eight years are there. My mother is buried in Corpus Christi, so, I spend a little time thinking of her when there, also.

I'm Nobody's Baby
Judy Garland

[Words and Music by Benny Davis, Milton Ager and Lester Santley]

I'm nobody's baby, I wonder why
Each night and day I pray the Lord up above
Please send me down somebody to love
But nobody wants me
I'm blue somehow
Won't someone hear my plea
And take a chance with me
Because I'm nobody's baby now

No, nobody's baby
And I've got to know the reason why
Last week I was walking down the street
And met a boy and I said
Hey, maybe I was meant for you
But he only tipped his hat and shook his head
Kept on walkin' down the avenue

Oh, nobody wants me, I'm mighty blue somehow
Won't someone hear my plea
And take a little chance with me

Because I'm no-nobody's baby, I'm blue somehow
Won't someone hear my plea
And take a chance with me
There's no denyin' I'm cryin'
I'm lonesome on my own-some
I don't mean maybe, I'm nobody's baby

Ah, edgar. What a sad song by Judy. It just occurred to me that Corpus Christi means the body of Christ.

How about this one for your mom.

Lloyd

Forever Song

She loved the flowers in her room
They helped ease the pain deep inside her
And even though she could not move
Her presence lit the universe

Sometimes she had dreams
She was soaring over golden streets
But what did they mean?
I asked her and she smiled as she said

[chorus]
"I know heaven waits for me
So don't shed a tear
We'll live eternally,
I'll be waiting for you there"

[verse 2]
I never knew her in this world
Though I heard her voice through her written words
And even as the years unfurl
My faith is nothing compared to hers

Sometimes she had dreams
She was soaring over golden streets
But what did they mean?
I asked her and she smiled as she said

[chorus]

[bridge]

And everything is perfect there
There's no more pain and no more tears
I've seen it in my dreams
And I have heard their singing in my ears
The forever song

[chorus]

I've just been to heaven with someone so true I dreamed about mama last night
She read me the Bible like she used to do I dreamed about mama last night
She never close her eyes to sleep till we were all in bed
And on party nights when we come home she often sat and read
We little thought about it then for we were young and gay
Just how much mama worried when we children were away
We only knew she never slept when we were out at night
That she waited just to know that we'd all come home alright
Why sometimes when we'd stay away till one or two or three
It seemed to us that mama heard the turnin' of the key
For always when we'd step aside she'd call and we'd reply
But we were all too young back then to understand the reason why
Until the last one had returned she'd always keep a light
For mama couldn't sleep until she kissed us all goodnight
She had to know that we were safe before she went to rest
She seemed to fear that the world might harm the ones that she loved the best
And once she told me when you're grown to women and to men
Perhaps I'll sleep the whole night through I may be different then
And so it seemed that night and day we knew a mother's care
That always when we got back home we'd find her waitin' there
Then came the night that we were called together round her bed
The children're all with you now the kindly doctor said
And in her eyes the gleam again that old time tender light
That told that she's just been waitin' to know that we were alright
She smiled that old familiar smile and prayed to God to keep
Her children safe from harm throughout the years and then she went to sleep
My dream is a treasure that I'll always keep I dreamed about mama last night

good evening listeners !
just dropping by to wish you a good evening and present you with some songs from an old lp : 60 YEARS OF MUSIC AMERICA LOVES BEST .

let's start with HAL KEMP and :
"got a date with angel"

Quote:
Got a date with an angel
Got to meet her at seven
Got a date with an angel
And I'm on my way to heaven

She's so lovely beside me
And whatever betide me
Got an angel to guide me
So I'm on my way to heaven

Soon I'll hear bells ring out
And the choir will sing out
When the pearly gates swing out
She'll becon to me

I've been waiting a life time
For this evening at seven
Got a date with an angel
And I'm on my way to heaven

and now , BUNNY BERRIGAN sings for you :

"I CAN'T GET STARTED ..."

Quote:
I've flown around the world in a plane;
I've settled revolutions in Spain;
The north pole I have charted,
But I can't get started with you.

Around the golf course, I'm under par,
And all the movies want me to star;
I've got a house, a show place,
But I get no place with you .

You're so supreme, lyrics I write of you,
Scheme just for a sight of you,
Dream both day and night of you,
And what good does it do?

In nineteen twenty-nine, I sold short;
In England, I'm presented at court,
But you've got me down-hearted,
'Cause I can't get started with you.

Well, edgar. I love that one by Hank. Thanks, and we'll always remember our Moms.

One from the Man in Black:

Are All The Children In Lyrics
Artist(Band):Johnny Cash

When I'm alone I often think of an old house on the hill
Of a big yard hedged in roses where we ran and played at will
And when the night time brought us home hushing our merry din
Mother would look around and ask are all the children in
Well it's been many a year now and the old house on the hill
No longer has my mother's care and the yard is still so still
But if I listen I can hear it all no matter how long it's been
I seem to hear my mother ask are all the children in
And I wonder when the curtain falls on that last earthly day
When we say goodbye to all of this to our pain and work and play
When we step across the river where mother so long has been
Will we hear ask her a final time are all the children in (I come)

Well, I see that hbg is back in our wee studio. Later, Canada.

and HARRY BELAFONTE is pleased to entertain you with :

"SCARLET RIBBONS"

Quote:
I peeked in to say good-night
And there I heard my child in prayer
"And for me, some scarlet ribbons
Scarlet ribbons for my hair"

All our town was closed and shuttered
All the streets were dark and bare
In our town, no scarlet ribbons
Scarlet ribbons for her hair

Through the night my heart was aching
Just before the dawn was breaking
In our town, no scarlet ribbons
Scarlet ribbons for her hair

I peeked in and on her bed
In gay profusion lying there
Lovely ribbons, scarlet ribbons
Scarlet ribbons for her hair

If I live to be a hundred
I will never know from where
Came those lovely scarlet ribbons
Scarlet ribbons for her hair

for a change of pace let's hear what TOMMY DORSEY and his trombone can do for you :

Quote:
THE MUSIC GOES ROUND AND ROUND
Tommy Dorsey

I blow thru here
The music goes 'round and around
Whoa-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho
And it comes out here
I push the first valve down
The music goes down and around
Whoa-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho
And it comes out here
I push the middle valve down
The music goes down around below
Below, below, deedle-dee-ho-ho-ho
Listen to the jazz come out
I push the other valve down
The music goes 'round and around
Whoa-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho
And it comes out here

and let's go out with COLE PORTER'S " NIGHT AND DAY " performed by that new sensational entertainer : FRANK SINATRA

Quote:
Like the beat beat beat of the tom-tom
When the jungle shadows fall
Like the tick tick tock of the stately clock
As it stands against the wall
Like the drip drip drip of the raindrops
When the summer shower is through
So a voice within me keeps repeating you, you, you

Night and day, you are the one
Only you beneath the moon or under the sun
Whether near to me, or far
Its no matter darling where you are
I think of you

Day and night, night and day, why is it so
That this longing for you follows wherever I go
In the roaring traffics boom
In the silence of my lonely room
I think of you

Day and night, night and day
Under the hide of me
Theres an oh such a hungry yearning burning inside of me
And this torment wont be through
Until you let me spend my life making love to you

Day and night, night and day

Wow! hbg. You on a roll tonight. Must have had a wonderful Mother's Day celebration.

Thanks, buddy. I hadn't realized that Harry sang "Scarlet Ribbons", and I think that the writer of that lovely song was done by the same man who did this one, but I'm not certain.

When Sunny Gets Blue (live) Tori Amos lyrics
Artist: Tori Amos

When Sunny gets blue, her eyes get gray and cloudy,
And then the rain begins to fall.
Pitter-patter, pitter-patter, love is gone so what can matter?
No sweet lovin' man comes to call.

Ooh, when Sunny gets blue... when Sunny gets blue,
She breathes a sigh of sadness, like the wind that stirs the trees.
Winds that sets the leaves a-swayin',
Like those violins are playin' weird and haunting melodies.
Oh, when Sunny gets blue, Sunny gets blue... ooh, when Sunny gets blue,

People used to love to see her laugh and see her smile-
That's how she got her name.
Since that sad affair she's lost her smile-
Changed her style, somehow she's not the same.

But, memories will fade and pretty dreams will rise up,
Where her other dreams fell through.
Hurry, new love, hurry here, kiss away each lonely tear,
And hold me near when Sunny gets blue.
Oh yes, when Sunny gets blue, Sunny gets blue...
Sunny gets blue, Sunny gets blue...

letty : yes we had a great mother's day getting our hands dirty in the garden planting some annuals and perennials - feels good to muck around Laughing

those songs are from a set of the first three lp's we bought in canada after we brought a big HI-FI unit back from our first geman vacation -
we came back by plane , the hi-fi travelled by ship !

from the liner notes :
"12 unique collector's items . now for the first time all in one album !
history making performances from the past - a nostalgic and thrilling panorama of the musical greats since the earliest days of recorded sound ! "
quite a mouthful ! btw the lp still has a great sound .

so here is one more ;
this one by VERNON DALHART : THE PRISONER"S SONG

Quote:
Oh, I wish I had some-one to love me
Some-one to call me their own
Oh, I wish I had some-one to live with
'Cause I'm ti-red of liv-in' a-lone

Oh, please meet me to-night in the moon-light
Please meet me to-night all a-lone
For I have a sad sto-ry to tell you
It's a sto-ry that's nev-er been told

I'll be car-ried to the new jail to-mor-row
Leav-ing my poor dar-ling all a-lone
With the cold pris-on bars all a-round me
And my head on a pil-low of stone

Now I have a grand ship on the o-cean
All mount-ed with sil-ver and gold
And be-fore my poor dar-lin' would suf-fer
Oh! that ship would be an-chored and sold

Now if I had wings like an an-gel
O-ver these pri-son walls I would fly
And I'd fly to the arms of my poor dar-lin'
And there I'd be wil-ling to die

I had a very quiet, pleasant Mother's Day. SonofEva's piano recital was this afternoon. Other than that, I stayed home and rested. Very nice.

It's great to have you back here, Miss Letty.
