The Men In My Little Girl's Life - Mike Douglas

The men in my little girl's life
The men in my little girl's life

It seems like only yesterday
When I heard my little girl say
Daddy, there's a boy ouside, his name is Rod
He wants to play in our backyard
Can he daddy
Can he daddy
Oh, please daddy

Is it really so long ago
She'd come to me and wanna know
Dad, there's a boy outside, his name is Lee
He wants to carry my books for me
Can he daddy
Is it alright, dad
He's got freckles, dad

The men in my little girl's life
The men in my little girl's life

Then came pony tails and jeans
And my little girl was in her teens
Popsie, there's a boy outside
His name is Tom
He wants to take me to the prom
OK, popsie
He's cute, popsie
We'll be home early, popsie

Before I knew it time had flown
And how my little girl had grown
Now it was, Father, there's a boy outside
His name is Eddie
He wants to know if we can go steady
Can we, father
Yes, father
Oh, can we borrow the car, pop

Yes it seems only yesterday
I heard my lovely daughter say
Dad, there's a boy outside
His name is Jim
He asked me if I'd marry him
I said yes, Dad
Got something in your eye, Dad
I love him, dad

The men in my little girl's life
The men in my little girl's life

A child, an adolescent, a young lady, a wife
And oh, yes
There's another man in my little girl's life
Hi dad, there's a boy outside
His name is Tim
I told him Grampa was gonna babysit him
Thanks, dad
Bless you, dad
Good night, dad

The men in my little girl's life
The men in my little girl's life

Damn, dj. Crying or Very sad

Panz, I have heard a lot of beautiful songs, but that Hank knew how to write. He was indeed a poet.

Edgar snuck a fantastic one in there, folks. Sunrise Sunset.

For all our children everywhere:

Hold on to that innocence,
But temper it with eyes
That look right through and at us
And spill out wonder wise.

We can't always be there,
We can't kiss scraped knees,
But we can still hold on to you,
Through lips that whisper breeze.

Blowing everyone a kiss goodnight.

a couple of happier songs from they might be giants

New York City
They Might Be Giants

You called me last night on the telephone
And I was glad to hear from you 'cause I was all alone
You said, "It's snowing, it's snowing! God, I hate this weather."
Now I walk through blizzards just to get us back together

We met in the springtime at a rock-and-roll show
It was on the Bowery when it was time to go
We kissed on the subway in the middle of the night
I held your hand, you held mine, it was the best night of my life.

'Cause everyone's your friend in New York City
And everything looks beautiful when you're young and pretty
The streets are paved with diamonds and there's just so much to see
But the best thing about New York City is you and me

Statue of Liberty, Staten Island Ferry, Co-op City, Katz's and Tiffany's*
Central Park, Brooklyn Bridge, The Empire State where Dylan lived**
Coney Island and Times Square, Rockefeller Center
Wish I was there

You wrote me a letter just the other day
Said, "Springtime is coming soon so why don't you come to stay."
I packed my stuff, got on the bus, I can't believe it's true
I'm three days from New York City and I'm three days from you

'Cause everyone's my friend in New York City
And everything looks beautiful when you're young and pretty
The streets are paved with diamonds and there's just so much to see
But the best thing about New York City is you and me

'Cause everyone's my friend in New York City
And everything looks beautiful when you're young and pretty
The streets are paved with diamonds and there's just so much to see
But the best thing about New York City is you and me.

********************************************

Four of Two
They Might Be Giants

Underneath a big clock at the corner of 5th Avenue and 22nd Street
I stood in waiting for a girl I knew at the spot where we agreed to meet
It was four minutes of two

At four of two, I stood waiting for the girl
I was four minutes early for the date we had planned
I was planning to say I would kiss her on the lips
Just as soon as lorna showed for a two o'clock date
And the clock said four of two

At four of two, I was staring into space
She was not yet late, according to the clock
I was feeling nervous so I kept looking up
At the clock sticking out of the side of the building
And it still said four of two

At four of two, I began to feel tired
And I rubbed my eyes, and again I checked the time
It seemed as if the sky was growing dark...
But I felt reassured when I looked at the clock
And it still said four of two

I lay my head down on the sidewalk so in case she were coming I would have a better view
But no one was there so I stretched out and closed my eyes for a second or two
It was four minutes of two

At once I awoke to a futuristic world
There were flying cars and gigantic metal bugs
I'd grown a beard; it was long and white
But I knew that the girl would be coming very soon
For though everything had changed, there was still that clock
And it still said four of two

Good night all.

Till I Waltz Again With You - Teresa Brewer

[Words and Music by Sidney Prosen]

Till I waltz again with you
Let no other hold your charms
If my dreams should all come true
You'll be waiting for my arms

Till I kiss you once agin
Keep my love locked in your heart
Darling, I'll return and then
We will never have to part

Though it may break your heart and mine
The minute when it's time to go
Remember Dear, each word divine
That meant I love you so

Till I waltz again with you
Just the way we are tonight
I will keep my promise true
For you are my guiding light

Till I waltz again with you
Keep my love locked in your heart
Darling, I'll return and then
We will never have to part
Though it may break your heart and mine
The minute when it's time to go
Remember Dear, each word divine
That meant I love you so

Till I waltz again with you
Just the way we are tonight
I will keep my promise true
For you are my guiding light
My light, my light
I will keep my promise true
Till I waltz again with you

Good morning, WA2K radio audience.

It seems that we signed off last night on a happier note and wake up to a puzzle.

McTag, the only key that I can think of is A natural. I did the do re me bit on the piano, but that didn't work. Perhaps our panz will explain since I have no idea about key signatures on guitar.

I hope Bob is feeling better this morning, and that Diane and dys have a safe trip to Denver.

UhOh! Mickey Mouse is whining, listeners:

Well, my goodness, dys. Hey, Sally and Fred would make a great song title in the key of A. Cool

(sung to the tune of Bonnie and Clyde)

Sally and Fred are pretty looking creatures,
But I can tell you people
They require much lovin'

etc.; etc; etc.

Still haven't learned the 12% solution to Canada.

Not wishing to be a whiner, I failed to notify our radio listeners that I and the Mrs are returning to work after being off with viral respiritory infections last week.

I feel good
I knew that I would
So good
So good

My word, edgar. Thank goodness you and your wife are all right. I have noticed that many of our listeners have contracted those narsty viri. Even poor old Grandma has had her problems:

THE COMPUTER SWALLOWED GRANDMA

The computer swallowed grandma.
Yes, honestly its true.
She pressed 'control' and 'enter'
And disappeared from view.

It devoured her completely,
The thought just makes me squirm.
She must have caught a virus
Or been eaten by a worm.

I've searched through the recycle bin
And files of every kind;
I've even used the internet,
But nothing did I find.

In desperation, I asked Jeeves
My searches to refine.
The reply from him was negative,
Not a thing was found 'online'.

So, if inside your 'Inbox,'
My Grandma you should see,
Please 'Copy', 'Scan' and 'Paste' her
And send her back to me!

Well, well, well, McTag. That is a cause for celebration. We're all in it together, you know.

Fantastic, listeners and staff. Now where is a manager, Eva?

The Eagles are here:

I have a mansion
Forget the price
Ain't never been there
They tell me it's nice

I live in hotels
Tear out the walls
I have accountants
Pay for it all

They say I'm crazy but I have a good time
I'm just looking for clues at the scene of the crime
Life's been good to me so far

My Maserati
Does one eighty-five
I lost my license
Now I don't drive

I have a limo
Ride in the back
I lock the doors
In case I'm attacked

I'm making records
My fans they can't wait
They write me letters
Tell me I'm great

So I got me an office
Gold records on the wall
must leave a message
Maybe I'll call

Lucky I'm sane after all I've been through
(Everybody sing) I'm cool (He's cool)
I can't complain but sometimes I still do
Life's been good to me so far

I go to parties
Sometimes until four
It's hard to leave
When you can't find the door

It's tough to handle
This fortune and fame
Everybody's so different
I haven't changed

They say I'm lazy but it takes all my time
(Everybody sing) Oh yeah (Oh yeah)
I keep on going guess I'll never know why
Life's been good to me so far baby,
inside the Sad Cafe.

Not sure if you played this one before...

To commemorate her 69th birthday October 1, 2004, actress/vocalist Julie Andrews made a special appearance at
Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall for the benefit of the AARP. One of the musical numbers she performed was "My
Favorite Things" from the legendary movie "Sound Of Music." However, the lyrics of the song were
deliberately changed for the entertainment of her "blue hair" audience. Here are the lyrics she recited:

Maalox and nose drops and needles for knitting,
Walkers and handrails and new dental fittings,
Bundles of magazines tied up in string,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Cadillac's and cataracts and hearing aids and glasses,
Polident and Fixodent and false teeth in glasses,
Pacemakers, golf carts and porches with swings,
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the pipes leak,
When the bones creak,
When the knees go bad,
I simply remember my favorite things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

Hot tea and crumpets, and corn pads for bunions,
No spicy hot food or food cooked with onions,
Bathrobes and heat pads and hot meals they bring,
These are a few of my favorite things.

Back pains, confused brains, and no fear of sinnin',
Thin bones and fractures and hair that is thinnin',
And we won't mention our short shrunken frames,
When we remember our favorite things.

When the joints ache,
When the hips break,
When the eyes grow dim,

Then I remember the great life I've had,
And then I don't ! feel so bad.

Ms. Andrews received a standing ovation from the crowd that lasted over four minutes and repeated encores.
