Good morning, Bob of Boston. Great bio's today, and we always love your observations about women, especially the one about the princess seeking a frog.

Until our Raggedy arrives, folks, here is a strange song from The Coral.

Artist: The Coral
Song : In The Morning

Shut the bedroom window in the morning
Go to the shop, make plans to be leaving
In the morning...
Thought I was sleeping,
it was just a dream,
An alleycat chewing on dead leaves
In the morning...

Out of the dark and into the light
When the morning comes
I will be alright

When I leave I try not to wake her
Tiana toast to yesterday's capers
In the morning....

She wrote my name on a red telephone box
When I got there she'd already rubbed it off
In the morning....

Out of the dark and into the light
When the morning comes I will be alright

And all this time I've watched it change
But it's still the same

In the morning...
In the morning...
In the morning...
In the morning...

OH, IN THE MORNING - ARLO GUTHRIE
Words and music by Arlo Guthrie

Oh, in the morning
Feel like the sun
Coming up on daytime
Shine on every one
Coming up on darkness
Warm me in your arms
Let me know another lonely night
Has come and gone

Oh, happy river flowing
Gently unto me
Softly bring me music
Listen to you sing
Swiftly running river flowing
We'll at last be free
Oh, happy waterwheel
Roll gently over me

Oh in the evening
Feel alone at last
All of the things that the daytime brings
Roll gently in the past
There is nothing left to see
Except the stars and moon
To let me know another lonely day
Is coming soon

Oh, in the morning
Feel like the sun
Coming up on daytime
Shine on everyone
Coming up on darkness
Warm me in your arms
Let me know another lonely night
Has come and gone

Hey, Raggedy. Where's that smiling face? Thanks for the wonderful depiction of Bob's notables, PA.

We're looking at Anthony, Silvana, Charles, and Andi(sp?)

edgar, Thanks for the Arlo song. I often find myself wondering how either Arlo or Woody ever managed a smile.

A morning poem

Every morning

the world

is created.

Under the orange

sticks of the sun

the heaped

ashes of the night

turn into leaves again

and fasten themselves to the high branches ---

and the ponds appear

like black cloth

on which are painted islands

of summer lilies.

If it is your nature

to be happy

you will swim away along the soft trails

for hours, your imagination

alighting everywhere.

And if your spirit

carries within it

the thorn

that is heavier than lead ---

if it's all you can do

to keep on trudging ---

there is still

somewhere deep within you

a beast shouting that the earth

is exactly what it wanted ---

each pond with its blazing lilies

is a prayer heard and answered

lavishly,

every morning,

whether or not

you have ever dared to be happy,

whether or not

you have ever dared to pray.

Very Happy Which brings on a song:

When you're smilin', when you're smilin'
The whole world smiles with you
When you're laughin', when you're laughin'
The sun comes shinin' through

But when you're cryin', you bring on the rain
So stop that sighin', come on and be happy again
Keep on smilin', 'cause when you're smilin',
The whole world smiles with you

No cryin' here. It's a gorgeous day in PA.

Well, TTH, It's hard to keep track of you, dear. I get you confused with tryingtohelp and etc. Razz

For winter's rains and ruins are over,
And all the season of snows and sins;
The days dividing lover and lover,
The light that loses, the night that wins;
And time remembered is grief forgotten,
And frosts are slain and flowers begotten,
And in green underwood and cover
Blossom by blossom the spring begins.

Loveliest of trees, the cherry now
Is hung with bloom along the bough.A.E. Housman (1859-1936)

That is a pretty poem Letty. I requested a change in my member name because it would take others less time to type it in. I should make mention in my sig line so no one thinks I am a different member.

feeling like a kid today

~~~~~~~~
Climbing up on solsbury hill
I could see the city light
Wind was blowing, time stood still
Eagle flew out of the night
He was something to observe
Came in close, I heard a voice
Standing stretching every nerve
I had to listen had no choice
I did not believe the information
Just had to trust imagination
My heart was going boom boom, boom
Son, he said, grab your things, Ive come to take you home.
To keeping silence I resigned
My friends would think I was a nut
Turning water into wine
Open doors would soon be shut
So I went from day to day
Tho my life was in a rut
till I thought of what Id say
Which connection I should cut
I was feeling part of the scenery
I walked right out of the machinery
My heart was going boom boom boom
Hey, he said, grab your things, Ive come to take you home.
Yeah back home
When illusion spin her net
Im never where I want to be
And liberty she pirouette
When I think that I am free
Watched by empty silhouettes
Who close their eyes, but still can see
No one taught them etiquette
I will show another me
Today I dont need a replacement
Ill tell them what the smile on my face meant
My heart was going boom boom boom
Hey, I said, you can keep my things, theyve come to take me home.
Well, listeners, there's our Canadian lilac back and feeling like a kid. Hmmm, TO, don't know Peter Gabriel but I do know this horn man. Razz
Music and Lyrics by Cole Porter
From the musical "Anything Goes"
Transcribed by Randy Goldberg, NYMC '97
(spoken)
There's a good lesson for ya, sinners!
Search your hearts!
Sign off with Satan and tune in with heaven!
Where will you stand on the day of glory?
Do you hear that playin'?
(Yes, we hear that playin'.)
Do you know who's playin'?
(No, who is that playin'?)
(sung)
Well, it's Gabriel, Gabriel playin'!
Gabriel, Gabriel sayin'
"Will you be ready to go
When I blow my horn?"
Blow, Gabriel, blow,
Come on and blow, Gabriel, blow.
I've been a sinner, I've been a scamp,
But now I'm willin' to trim my lamp,
So blow, Gabriel, blow.
Oh, I was low, Gabriel, low,
Mighty low, Gabriel, low.
But now that I have seen the light
I'm good by day and I'm good by night
So blow, Gabriel, blow.
Once I was headed for Hell.
Once I was headed for Hell!
But when I got to Satan's door,
I heard you blowin' on your horn once more,
So I said, "Satan, farewell."
And now I'm all ready to fly
Yes, to fly higher and higher
'Cause I've gone through brimstone
And I've been through the fire
And I purged my soul
And my heart too
So climb up the mountaintop
And start to blow, Gabriel, blow
Come on and blow, Gabriel, blow
I wanna join your happy band
Play all day in the Promised Land
So blow, Gabriel, blow!
Get up you scamps, get up you sinners!
Get up on your feet and SING!
Blow, Gabriel, blow, (Blow, Gabriel!)
Come on and blow, Gabriel, blow. (Blow, Gabriel!)
I've been a sinner, I've been a scamp,
But now I'm willin' to trim my lamp,
So blow, Gabriel, blow.
Oh, I was low, Gabriel, low, (Low, Gabriel!)
Mighty low, Gabriel, low.
But now that I have seen the light
I'm good by day and I'm good by night
So blow, Gabriel, blow.
Once I was headed for Hell.
Once I was headed for Hell!
But when I got to Satan's door,
I heard you blowin' on your horn once more,
So I said, "Satan, farewell."
Satan, you stay away from me,
'Cause you ain't the man I wanna see!
I'm gonna be good as the day I was born
'Cause I heard that man on the horn;
Do ya hear 'im?!?
Blow, Gabe, Gabriel!
Blow, Gabe, Gabriel!
Blow, Gabe, Gabriel!
Blow, Gabe, Gabriel!
Blow, Gabe, Gabriel!
Blow, blow, blow, blow!
Blow that horn, Gabriel!
Blow that horn, Gabriel!
Blow that horn, Gabriel!
Blow that horn, Gabriel!
Blow that horn, Gabriel!
Blow, blow, blow, blow!
Gabriel, Gabriel, Gabriel, Gabriel!
Blow, Gabe!
Blow, Gabe!
Blow! Blow! Oh....
Blow, Gabriel, blow
Come on and blow, Gabriel, blow
I wanna join your happy band
Play all day in the Promised Land
So blow, Gabriel, blow, Gabriel, blow, Gabriel, blow
Thanks, TTH. Letty gets confused quite easily. Razz
The Attic
(Van Dyke Parks)
I was there upon a four poster there. Mind touseled I came to bear some thoughts from the past amid a dash of influenza. And then I came to see in baggage the memories of truncated souvenirs. The war years. High moon I said high moon lighted high moon eye to my moon.
Far beyond the blue mist enveloped lawn the blanketed night comes on. The champagne is dead and gone. The forest around sensitive sound forest primeval. Through the panes cloud buttermilk war remains and twisted cross war refrains lunatic so high moon I said high moon lighted high moon eye to my moon.
Your age will most probably carry away the letters enveloped in carrion. Vague unpleasantries of the war. May your son's progenitorship of the state haphazardly help him to carry on. God send your son safe home to you. High Moon. You're eye to my moon.
You Win Again
Jerry Lee Lewis
The news is out all over town
That you've been seen out runnin' around
I know that I should leave, but then
I just can't go,
You win again
This heart of mine could never see
what everybody knows but me
Just trusting in you was my great sin
What can I do?
You Win Again
solo
Yes this heart of mine could never see
what everybody knows but me
Just trusting you was my great sin
What can I do?
You Win Again
words and music by Pete Seeger
My grandma she can make a soup
With a little a this n that
She can feed the whole sloop group
With a little a this n that
Stone soup! You know the story
Stone soup! Who needs the glory?
But with grandma cookin no need to worry!
Just a little a this n that
Grandma likes to make a garden grow
With a little a this n that
But she likes to have the ground just so
With a little a this n that
Not too loose and not too firm
In the spring it s all got to be turned
In the fall lots of compost to feed the worms
With a little a this n that
Grandma knows we can build a future
With a little a this n that
And a few arguments never never hurt ya
With a little a this n that
True this world's in a hell of a fix
And some say oil and water don't mix
But they don't know a saladmaker's tricks
With a little a this n that
The world to come may be like a song
With a little a this n that
To make everybody want to sing along
With a little a this n that
A little dissonance ain't no sin
A little skylarking to give us all a grin
Who knows
But God's got a plan for the people to win
With a little a this n that
repeat 1st verse
edgar, thanks for the triplets. I am familiar with Pete and Jerry, but I don't know the Parks fellow.
"memories of truncated souvenirs". I like that line.
I've been searching most of the day, listeners, and I found many things that were "needful things". One, for my daughter involving a conversation that we had about attention deficit disorder, and another about the odd music behind the movie "Tombstone"
Perhaps, Texas, you can help me with this one by a guy named Boris. I know the song and the melody, but Boris illudes me.
For all we know we may never meet again
Before you go make this moment sweet again
We won't say "good night" until the last minute
I'll hold out my hand and my heart will be in it
For all we know this may only be a dream
We come and go like a ripple of a stream
So love me, love me tonight, tomorrow was made for some
Tomorrow may never come for all we know
Japanese cult favorite sludge/doom rock trio Boris takes its name from a song on grunge godfathers the Melvins' Bullhead album. They also have a lot in common with the Melvins musically, including a fondness for heavily down-tuned guitar/bass tones and exceedingly slow tempos. But they also incorporate elements variously drawn from other sources, including psychedelic ..more
Japanese cult trio? What in the world would they be doing a tame song like, "For All We Know." Where's Satt. <smile>
No fathoming the music business. Thanks, edgar.
This one is a little more predictable, folks.
For All We Know
Words and Music by: Fred Karlin and Robb Wilson and Arthur James
Love, look at the two of us
Strangers in many ways
We've got a lifetime to share
So much to say
And as we go
From day to day
I'll feel you close to me
But time alone will tell
Let's take a lifetime to say
"I knew you well"
For only time will tell us so
And love may grow
For all we know.
Love, look at the two of us
Strangers in many ways
Let's take a lifetime to say
"I knew you well"
For only time will tell us so
And love may grow
For all we know.
