and while we wait upon the rest of our fans and contributors:

Harbours open there doors to the young searching foreigner
Come to live in the light of the big L of liberty
Plains and open skies bill boards would advertise
Was it anything like that when you arrived
Dream boats carried the future to the heart of America
People were waiting in line for a place by the river

Chorus
It was time when strangers were welcome here
Music would play they tell me the days were sweet and clear
It was a sweeter tune and there was so much room
That people could come from everywhere

Now he arrvies with hopes and his heart set on miracles
Come to marry his fortune with a hand full of promises
To find they've closed the door they don't want him anymore
There isn't anymore to go around
Turning away he remembers he once heard a legend
That spoke of a mystical magical land called America

It was time when strangers were welcome here
Music would play they tell me the days were sweet and clear
It was a sweeter tune and there was so much room
That people could come from everywhere

It was time when strangers were welcome here
Music would play they tell me the days were sweet and clear
It was a sweeter tune and there was so much room
That people could come from everywhere

L Ron Hubbard did indeed create his religion from scratch. Having read Dianetics and several other of his non fiction works, I would say he had some very good ideas. The application of those ideas among his followers was not always in line with the principles, however. I attended the Long Beach, CA, branch for a short time. I thought the people I met were very good. Because I am an atheist, even a modern religion cannot hold me long. I moved on with my pursuits.

One short work by that organization concerned itself with negative persons "down people" telling how close association with a truly negative personality disrupts every aspect of your job, or in other situations, love life, etc. Conclusion: don't try to change these people; avoid them totally.

I once argued religion with a local pastor. He asked me to name a few persons with whom I agreed at least in principle. I named Philip Wylie, Hubbard and a few others. He said he once read a paper on adult relationships with children that he thought was spot-on. It was only later he realized who the man was.

With somebody else's heart

You got me jumping like a crazy clown
And I don't feature what your putting down
Since I kissed her loving lips of wine
The thing that bothers me is that I like it fine

Ah, aphrodite and eros, and the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.

edgar, I know nothing of the development of scientology. That observation was just something that I recall. Oops? (goddess of discord?) Razz

oops, Francis, it was Ops of whom I was thinking. Embarrassed

The tears I cried for you could fill an ocean
But you don't care how many tears I cry
And though you only lead me on and hurt me
I couldn't bring myself to say goodbye

CHORUS
Cuz everybody's somebody's fool
Everybody's somebody's plaything
And there are no exceptions to the ru-u-ule
Yes, everybody's somebody's fool

I told myself it's best that I forget you
Though I'm a fool at least I know the score
Yet darlin' I'd be twice as blue without you
It hurts but I'd come runnin' back for more

CHORUS

Someday you'll find someone you really care for
And if her love should prove to be untrue
You'll know how much this heart of mine is breakin'
You'll cry for her the way I cry for you

Yes, everybody's somebody's fool
Everybody's somebody's plaything
And there are no exceptions to the ru-u-ule
Yes, everybody's somebody's fool

I believe that Connie, Francis,( Razz ) had a terrible episode occur in her life.

and to edgar:

I should have said founder of Scientology.

One thing that I do know, listeners, is that word choice can make or break communication among friends and foes.

Lost in thought again, Raggedy.

Wonder what would have occurred had Caesar NOT crossed the Rubicon.

Well, Francis and listeners, we have all made irrevocable decisions. I suppose that altering history would produce the butterfly effect, or a paradox in time.

Fantastic, panz. I'm laughing 'cause you don't have one song played in the key of C.

Tell us what you played by Hank Williams.

Actually dear one....that was the headliner Joe Nichols song list. His #1 hits are Smokes and Brokenheart(She Smokes When She Drinks and Brokenheartsville)
It's interesting to note how he planned the flow of the show.
He starts with songs from his new album then the dynamics quieten as he sings 2 songs on Acoustic guitar.
Then he brings the band back out and introduces them on Honkytonk. Then the Hank Williams medley and then his biggest hit.
The encore is another medley of jam tunes in E

We were joking last night that we don't wanna appear racist so we don't play in the key of C(all white keys)

Can you guess the Canadian key Letty?
