Well, folks. There's our Bob with a bunch of bio's, and Raggedy with Johnny. Know most of them, hawkman, and as Raggedy says: "Too True" concerning 2006. Love it, though.

I just went to town hall to get my absentee ballot and educate myself, listeners. Everyone made my day, cause they laughed at my jokes. Razz I even got a smile when I made a remark or two about the Republicans who were running.

I know that Michael Crichton wrote a "A Case of Need" which predated Roe vs. Wade, and made a great statement concerning abortion. If I recall correctly, he was in med school (using a nom de plume) and the book was a great success, so he dropped out and continued to write.

Need to more thoroughly review all of our hawkman's celeb's before commenting further, however.

Back in a moment with a song and a critique.

Don't know Dwight, folks, so I searched him out and found that I still don't know him. Razz

Let's hear a song by him, however.

I'll give you three good reasons for leavin'
And number one is that I've forgotten number two
Number three is in a place that's been kept hidden
For so long I can't remember but it's true.

I'll give you three more reasons for leavin'
With the first no worse or better than the next two
But rest assured that the third will leave you grievin'
From a tale that's as sad as it is true.

Every night
All night long
I sit and count alone
But every day
Nothin' new
I can't find one to use.

--- Instrumental ---

Every night
All night long
I sit right there and count alone
But every day
Nothin' new
I can't find one to use.

I'll give you three good reasons for leavin'
And number one is that I've forgotten number two.

Yeah, number one is that I've forgotten number two.

Number one is that I've forgotten number two...

This has been on my mind lately. Love it, listeners:

Georgia, Georgia,
The whole day through
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind

I'm say Georgia
Georgia
A song of you
Comes as sweet and clear
As moonlight through the pines

Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you

I said Georgia,
Ooh Georgia, no peace I find
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind

Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you

Georgia,
Georgia,
No peace, no peace I find
Just this old, sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind

I said just an old sweet song,
Keeps Georgia on my mind

Hey, Raggedy. P.D. be fine, honey. Just having some repairs done by a great Canadian from Montreal. Thank goodness for people who want to work, eh? Razz

Great collage, PA. There's Murray, Kevin, and B.D., that wonderful actor from SVU.

I'm certain the hawk will fly in later, but until then, we have a marvelous representation of ethnicity, right?

For a man I met at the hardware store, listeners. I spotted his accent almost immediately:

Bob Marley
» Roots, Rock, Reggae

Play I some music, this a reggae music [repeat]
Roots rock reggae, this a reggae music [repeat]

Hey Mister Music, sure sounds good to me
I can't refuse it, what to be got to be
Feel like dancing, dance cause we are free
Feel like dancing, come dance with me

Roots rock reggae, this a reggae music [repeat]
Play I some music, this a reggae music [repeat]

Play I on the R&B, want all my people to see
We bubbling on the Top 100, just like a mighty dread

Dust Storm Disaster
(The Great Dust Storm)

On the 14th day of April of 1935,
There struck the worst of dust storms that ever filled the sky.
You could see that dust storm comin', the cloud looked deathlike black,
And through our mighty nation, it left a dreadful track.

From Oklahoma City to the Arizona line,
Dakota and Nebraska to the lazy Rio Grande,
It fell across our city like a curtain of black rolled down,
We thought it was our judgement, we thought it was our doom.

The radio reported, we listened with alarm,
The wild and windy actions of this great mysterious storm;
From Albuquerque and Clovis, and all New Mexico,
They said it was the blackest that ever they had saw.

From old Dodge City, Kansas, the dust had rung their knell,
And a few more comrades sleeping on top of old Boot Hill.
From Denver, Colorado, they said it blew so strong,
They thought that they could hold out, but they didn't know how long.

Our relatives were huddled into their oil boom shacks,
And the children they was cryin' as it whistled through the cracks.
And the family it was crowded into their little room,
They thought the world had ended, and they thought it was their doom.

The storm took place at sundown, it lasted through the night,
When we looked out next morning, we saw a terrible sight.
We saw outside our window where wheat fields they had grown
Was now a rippling ocean of dust the wind had blown.

It covered up our fences, it covered up our barns,
It covered up our tractors in this wild and dusty storm.
We loaded our jalopies and piled our families in,
We rattled down that highway to never come back again.

Hey, edgar. The Dust Bowl certainly was no sports gala, right? I do believe that they banned Steinbeck's book at one time. Rolling Eyes Interesting title, The Grapes of Wrath, and your song reflected the feeling of the average Oakie.

Well, it has been some time since we had rain here in Florida, and I noticed that dadPad was touting the precipitation in Australia with a degree of glee. <smile>

Well, let's think about this song, folks:

The Scorpions. (apt title)

I close my eyes
Only for a moment and the moment's gone
All my dreams
Pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind
All they are is dust in the wind
Same old song
Just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do
Crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Now, Don't hang on
Nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away
And all your money won't another minute buy
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind
Dust in the wind
All we are is dust in the wind.

A little levity as only Will could do:

When the Oakies left Oklahoma and moved to California, it raised the I.Q. of both states.

Not all the Okies were allowed into California, including my mother's family. After so many thousands per day kept pouring in, they stationed police at the border to turn them away. Their not having enough money was the primary reason given.

Well, edgar. That's sounds familiar, and a sorry state of affairs, buddy. Times haven't changed all that much, have they, Texas.

Thinking about the lady with the lamp, folks:

Statue of LibertyNational Monument

Emma Lazarus' Famous Poem

A poem by Emma Lazarus is graven on a tablet within the pedestal on which the statue stands.

The New Colossus

Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,

With conquering limbs astride from land to land;

Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand

A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame

Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name

Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand

Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command

The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.

"Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she

With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,

Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,

The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.

Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,

I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

and this memory, folks:

Neil Sedaka Lyrics - The Immigrant Lyrics

Harbours open there doors to the young searching foreigner
Come to live in the light of the big L of liberty
Plains and open skies bill boards would advertise
Was it anything like that when you arrived
Dream boats carried the future to the heart of America
People were waiting in line for a place by the river

Chorus
It was time when strangers were welcome here
Music would play they tell me the days were sweet and clear
It was a sweeter tune and there was so much room
That people could come from everywhere

Now he arrvies with hopes and his heart set on miracles
Come to marry his fortune with a hand full of promises
To find they've closed the door they don't want him anymore
There isn't anymore to go around
Turning away he remembers he once heard a legend
That spoke of a mystical magical land called America

It was time when strangers were welcome here
Music would play they tell me the days were sweet and clear
It was a sweeter tune and there was so much room
That people could come from everywhere

It was time when strangers were welcome here
Music would play they tell me the days were sweet and clear
It was a sweeter tune and there was so much room
That people could come from everywhere

Good afternoon already, I blame the…

Red Red Wine
Bob Marley Lyrics

Red, red wine
Go to my head
Makes me forget that I
Still need her so

Red, red wine
It's up to you
All I can do, I've done
Memories won't go
Memories won't go

I'd have sworn
That with time
Thoughts of you
Would leave my head
I was wrong
Now I find
Just one thing makes me forget

Red, red wine
Stay close to me
Don't let me be alone
It's tearin' apart
My blue, blue heart

I'd have sworn
That with time
Thoughts of her
Would leave my head
I was wrong
And I find
Just one thing makes me forget

Red, red wine
Stay close to me
Don't let me be alone
It's tearin' apart
My blue, blue heart

Good morning, WA2K listeners and contributors. Yesterday it was red wine and this morning it's Isis.

Bob Dylan
» Isis

I married Isis on the fifth day of May
But I could not hold on to her very long
So I cut off my hair and I rode straight away
For the wild unknown country where I could not go wrong.

I came to a high place of darkness and light
The dividing line ran through the center of town
I hitched up my pony to a post on the right
Went in to a laundry to wash my clothes down.

A man in the corner approached me for a match
I knew right away he was not ordinary
He said "Are you looking for something easy to catch ?"
I said "I got no money". He said "That ain't necessary".

We set out that night for the cold in the North
I gave him my blanket he gave me his word
I said "Where are we going ?" He said "We'd be back by the fourth"
I said "That's the best new that I've ever heard".

I was thinking about turquoise I was thinking about gold
I was thinking about diamonds and the world's biggest necklace
As we rode through the canyons through the devilish cold
I was thinking about Isis how she thought I was so reckless.

How she told me that one day we meet up again
And things would be different the next time we wed
If I only could hang on and just be her friend
I still can't remember all the best things she said.

We came to the pyramids all embedded in ice
He said "There's a body I'm trying to find
If I carry it out it'll bring a good prize"
It was then that I knew what he had on his mind.

The wind it was howling and the snow was outrageous
We chopped through the night and we chopped through the dawn
When he died I was hoping that it wasn't contagious
But I made up my mind that I had to go on.
I broke into the tomb but the casket was empty
There was no jewels no nothing I felt I'd been had
When I saw that my partner was just being friendly
When I took up his offer I must-a been mad.

I picked up his body and I dragged him inside
Threw him down in the hole and I put back the cover
I said a quick prayer and I felt satisfied
Then I rode back to find Isis just to tell her I love her.

She was there in the meadow where the creek used to rise
Blinded by sleep and in need of a bed
I came in from the East with the sun in my eyes
I cursed her one time then I rode on ahead.

She said "Where ya been ?" I said "No place special ?"
She said "You look different" I said "Well I guess"
She said "You been gone" I said "That's only natural"
She said "You gonna stay ?" I said "If you want me to, Yeah ".

Isis oh Isis you mystical child
What drives me to you is what drives me insane
I still can remember the way that you smiled
On the fifth day of May in the drizzling rain.

Dream Weaver

Words and Music by Judy Collins, Denise Rich, Michael O'Hara

We are bound by two emotions
Love and fear
Interwoven in our lives
If I'm not afraid to love
Letting go of fear
My heart will survive
Love will stay alive

Darling, I'm a dream weaver
A true believer
That love will save the day
Miracles are all around us
Now love has found us
We'll let it lead the way
Darling, I'm dream weaver
A true believer

Do you know how spring can come
Putting out the dark
Of winter's bitter cold
How the light illuminates
Rejuvenates
The garden of our souls
Our love can make us whole

Darling, I'm a dream weaver
A true believer
That love will save the day
Miracles are all around us
Now love has found us
We'll let it lead the way
Darling, I'm dream weaver
A true believer

We live our lives in our dreams
One tapestry we think weave
Love lifts us far beyond
There are no mistakes
When we trust our fate

Whatever it takes
Darling, I'm a dream weaver
A true believer
That love will save the day
Miracles are all around us
Now love has found us
We'll let it lead the way
Darling, I'm dream weaver
A true believer

Hey, edgar. Judy Collins and I think alike on those two emotions. Hmmm, and I thought my interpretation was original. Love the song, Texas.

Weavers of dreams and tapestries, folks. I guess Penelope started something, right?

Carol King was a weaver:

Artist: Carol King
Song: Music

Music is playing inside my head
Over and over and over again
My friend, there's no end
to the music...
Ah, summer is over
But the music keeps playing
And won't let the cold get me down
Pictures are forming inside my brain
Soon with the colors they'll
rain together and grow
Then don't you know, don't you
know there'll be music...
Ah, it's not always easy
But the music keeps playing
And won't let the world get me down.

Hello Letty, seeing that it is late in the evening down under, I thought I play you a song, appropriate under the circumstances.

The Weavers were an immensely popular and influential folk music quartet from Greenwich Village, New York, United States.

The Weavers group was formed in 1947 by Ronnie Gilbert, Lee Hays, Fred Hellerman and Pete Seeger. A fifth member, Erik Darling, sometimes sat in with the group when Seeger was unavailable. The name came from an 1892 drama of the same name by Gerhart Hauptmann. After a period of finding themselves unable to find much, if any paid work, they finally achieved a performance slot at the jazz club the Village Vanguard. This led to their discovery by arranger Gordon Jenkins and their signing with Decca Records. The group had a big hit in 1949 with Leadbelly's Goodnight Irene, backed with the 1941 Israeli folk song Tzena, Tzena, Tzena.

Irene goodnight, Irene goodnight
Goodnight Irene, goodnight Irene
I'll see you in my dreams
Last saturday night I got married

Me and my love settled down
Now me and my love are parted
I'm gonna take another stroll downtown

Irene goodnight, Irene goodnight
Goodnight Irene, goodnight Irene
I'll see you in my dreams

Sometimes I live in the country
Sometimes I live in the town

Sometimes I have a great notion
To jump In the river and drown

Irene goodnight, Irene good night
Good night Irene, good night Irene
I'll see you in my dreams

Ramblin' stop your gamblin'
Stop stayin' out late at night
Go home to your wife and your family
Sit down by the fireside bright

Irene goodnight, Irene good night
Good night Irene, good night Irene
I'll see you in my dreams

Irene goodnight, Irene good night
Good night Irene, good night Irene
I'll see you in my dreams

Ah, Dutchy. Don't be such a stranger on our little cyber radio. Love that song, incidentally. So does RJB. Goodnight, my down under friend.

As the sun rises in the East, listeners, so does it sink in Australia. <smile>

A sunrise song:

Amy Correia Sun Comes Up lyrics

I'm leaving Manhattan
I'm leaving today
I can't help but want to dance all night
I felt a little lonely
Not a star up in the sky
I wonder why
The sun comes up
The sun goes down
The sun comes up
The sun goes down
And I feel the day is better spent with you
Looking at the butterflies
How wonderful your eyes
Don't ask me why I'm crying
As soon as I draw the window shade
I've seen another dying day
I am blown away
chorus
Sun comes up
Sun goes down
Sun comes up
Sun goes down
Sun comes up
Sun goes down
Down down down

Everybody's talking about a new way of walking.
Do you want to lose your mind?
