Yes, Letty. Dylan wrote that song to his wife when they were in the middle incipient stages of breaking up.

dj, those were really cool cat songs, and the Indian one reminded me of Heap Big Smoke but No Fire. Laughing

edgar, how wonderful and how sad. Dylan has lived an interesting life. We sometimes forget what pressure people in the spotlight have to deal with, especially in their personal lives.

Monk was very tender tonight. I cried some tears on his season finale. I do hope you all watch some of the reruns. I've never seen a show so endearing and powerful at the same time.

Ah, Edgar, it was you then that first told me about Sara and Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands.

It's funny how some songs become part of a family. My mother loved Joan Baez' record of Sad Eyed Lady and sat for many an hour listening to it, trying to get the words of a particular line that were hard to make out from the record ("My warehouse eyes" for one) (no computer with lyrics at that time) ,and trying to analyze some of the lines such as "streetcar visions". She would always ask me for my thoughts and then my daughter ,who was not yet a teen, would join in with her interpretation. That was many many years ago and so I was very surprised when recently when my daughter asked me to put her favorite CD selections onto one CD, the very first song she requested was Sad Eyed Lady. Made me feel warm all over. Like we were all together again listening for the first time. Smile

I've never seen Monk, Letty. I'll try to catch it one of these days.

I recall buying the album Blonde on Blonde and noting that Sad Eyed Lady took up a whole side of the record. I saved that one for last, because it was such a wonderful title I was afraid I would be disappointed by the actual song. Happily, it lived up to the title. And, the Joan Baez version is also wonderful.

Good morning, Raggedy and WA2K radio fans.

Ah, My Fair Lady. What a fantastic movie and stage production. Rex Harrison and Audrey Hepburn, both gone. To me, the musical score from My Fair Lady was one of the very best.

All I want is a room some where,
Far away from the cold night air,
With one enormous chair,
Oh wouldn't it be loverly.

Lots of chocolates for me to eat.
Lots of coal makin' lots of heat.
Warm hands, warm face, warm feet,
Oh, wouldn't it be loverly.

Oh, so loverly sittin' absolutely bloomin' still.
I would never move til spring,
Slipped over me window sill.

Someone's head restin' on my knee.
Warm and tender as he could be,
'ho'd take good care of me,
Oh, wouldn't it be loverly,
Loverly.
Wouldn't it be loverly.

Remembered every bit of it, folks.

It's going to be a great day. Thanks, Raggedy, for joggin' my memory

edgar, that would be 'enry 'iggins. Razz

Here's a timely quote:

A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.

George Bernard Shaw

and it is timely, listeners, because My Fair Lady was based on Shaw's Pygmalion.

Francis was kind enough to translate the lyrics to his dedication song:

Welcome to my life.

Performed by Simple Plan, Montreal pop band.

Vocals : Pierre Bouvier.

Do you ever feel like breaking down?
Do you ever feel out of place?
Like somehow you just don't belong
And no one understands you

Do you ever wanna run away?
Do you lock yourself in your room?
With the radio on turned up so loud
That no one hears you screaming

No you don't know what it's like
When nothing feels alright
You don't know what it's like to be like me

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked
When you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one's there to save you
No you don't know what it's like

Welcome to my life

Do you wanna be somebody else?
Are you sick of feeling so left out?
Are you desperate to find something more
Before your life is over

Are you stuck inside a world you hate?
Are you sick of everyone around?
With their big fake smiles and stupid lies
While deep inside you're bleeding

No you don't know what it's like
When nothing feels alright
You don't know what it's like to be like me

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked
When you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one's there to save you
No you don't know what it's like

Welcome to my life

No one ever lied straight to your face
And no one ever stabbed you in the back
You might think I'm happy
But I'm not gonna be ok

Everybody always gave you what you wanted
You never had to work it was always there
You don't know what it's like
What it's like

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked
When you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And no one's there to save you
No you don't know what it's like

To be hurt
To feel lost
To be left out in the dark
To be kicked
When you're down
To feel like you've been pushed around
To be on the edge of breaking down
And one's there to save you
No you don't know what it's like

Welcome to my life

Welcome to my life

Welcome to my life

The lyrics are wonderful, listeners, but they are sad. That's what I get for being a one language Letty. <smile>

Chanson d'Amour - Art & Dotty Todd

[Words and music by Wayne Shanklin]

Chanson d'amour, ra da da da da, play encore
Here in my heart, ra da da da da, more and more
Chanson d'amour, ra da da da da, I adore
Each time I hear, ra da da da da, chanson d'amour

Chanson d'amour, ra da da da da, I adore
Each time I hear, ra da da da da, chanson d'amour
Everytime I hear, chanson, chanson d'amour

Song of Love. Yes, edgar, a little more upbeat. <smile>

And now for a bit of quirky news from WA2K radio:

Quirky Festival Honors Frozen Dead Guy

BOULDER, Colorado (AP) - Over the last three years, the cryogenically frozen body of a Norwegian man has become the centerpoint of a quirky winter festival in a small Colorado mining town.

``Grandpa'' Bredo Morstoel, who died in 1989, was frozen by his grandson and stored in a shed in Nederland, a town 35 miles northwest of Denver that began celebrating ``Frozen Dead Guy Days'' in 2002 to increase tourism.

Now the man's daughter, 75-year-old Aud Morstoel, is hoping Norway's King Harald V and Queen Sonja will help her secure a visa to attend the festival. The royal couple also have been invited by Nederland's Chamber of Commerce to visit and ``partake in the fun and parody of the weekend.''

Aud Morstoel was invited to serve as the parade marshal for the March 11-13 celebration, but her application for a visa has yet to be approved, her son said.

Trygve Bauge, who submitted the request to Norway's king and queen, said his mother's application has been held up in part because she was convicted for drunk driving in Colorado and she overstayed her last visa before returning to Norway.

``They should have given us this a long time ago,'' he said Thursday from Norway.

Bauge, who froze his 89-year-old grandfather in hopes he can someday be revived or cloned, was deported in 1994 for immigration violations. His mother returned shortly thereafter, four months after her visa expired.

A caretaker has replenished the ice when necessary since Bauge was deported.

Panz and his wry remarks.

Francis of France, if only my French teacher in college had been so inspired, I may have done better with that romance language.

Here's to you, Ms. Jesse LeGrande, wherever you are. Rolling Eyes
