Ahhhh, Bob. That's a dear thing to say. Frankly, I needed that today.

Listeners, keep in mind this original thought:

Nothing is more calming to the soul than a gentle word.

Great, Raggedy. Harry Belafonte ought to get edgar in here pronto.

and there's little Opie on the same day as Chopin, listeners. Love Revolutionary Etude and Fantasy impromptu.

Yep. I'm lovin' that Chopin man, too. So is "I'm Always Chasing Rainbows" the Fantasy Impromptu - and the revolutionary piece, The Polonaise, otherwise known as "Til the End of Time"? I always get confused on that issue.

And yes, Belafonte's here today just for Edgar. Very Happy

And I must ask EOE - Have you heard anything about what TCM will air on March 3? The suspense is killing me.

Right on both counts, Raggedy. There's another called None but the Lonely Heart and Tonight we Love. Those are Tchaikovsky. Also Full Moon and Empty Arms by Rachmanioff. (damn, them Russian's names is hard to spell) Razz

Oh no, I'm serious. The TCM guide that I have hasn't listed the movies for March 3, from 6AM to 8PM. It says to check local listings to find out which films won the Viewers' Choice Oscar.

I know everything that's on beginning at 8PM.

(I don't know whether Sunday's paper has the correct movies listed.)

And speaking of classics, listeners, here's a classic ruling from The Supreme Court:

and another item that is unbelievable:
LEAD STORY

Some of the well-intentioned donations for victims of the December tsunami are bewilderingly inappropriate (such as ski jackets and Viagra), according to a February Wall Street Journal dispatch from Sri Lanka. Relief workers are being distracted by shipments of, for example, moisturizing gel, sweaters, women's dress shoes, Arctic-weather tents and thong underwear. Crucial medicines were in short supply, but not Valium, anti-depressants, or drugs with labels in languages that local doctors could not read. As the Journal wrote, some doctors "appear (just) to have unloaded their sample bins." [Wall Street Journal, 2-3-05]

Why is Hillary Swank catching so much flak for this dress? I thought the darts and the tucks and the seaming was pretty spectacular and showcased her hardwon body wonderfully. And the back? A knockout! But she's ending up on worst-dressed lists all over the place. I don't get it.

So do you love it or hate it?

TCM on March 3rd. Casablanca at 2:00pm and Adventures of Robin Hood at 8:00pm. It doesn't get any better than that. Trivia question. Could Will Scarlett's horse in Robin Hood be Trigger? Yes.

Casablanca still has one of the most mesmerizing scenes ever in a film. Paul Henreid crosses the floor in Rick's Cafe and orders the band to play The Marseillaise. Riveting.

Hey bob. What do you think of this dress? Speaking of Robin Hood, it's deceptive simplicity kind of reminds me of Olivia de Havilland as Marion.

I love the dress but still think she looks better without it. Robin Hood had a lot going for it. At the end the sword fight between Basil Rathbone and Errol Flynn was wonderful. If memory serves me right, they were the two best actors at swordplay.

No doubt. My brother had seen that movie about 1000 times and no longer watched it, unless he happened to catch it near the big fight. He'd wait for that. He could watch that swordfight 2000 times.

By the way, I meant the dress was deceptively simple, not the movie.

ehBeth, is that an invitation to dance?

The only reason that I can figure why Hillary may have gotten flack on that dress is because of the decollete back. I thought she looked fantastic in it.

Bob, I would like to see Rebecca again. Really a shocker!

"...she's gone in the sea, and she ain't comin back no more...."

This is the only thing that I really learned in French 101. Had to look it up though, 'cause I couldn't spell it.

Allons enfants de la Patrie
Le jour de gloire est arrivé.
Contre nous, de la tyrannie,
L'étandard sanglant est levé,
l'étandard sanglant est levé,
Entendez-vous, dans la compagnes.
Mugir ces farouches soldats
Ils viennent jusque dans nos bras
Egorger vos fils,
vos compagnes.

To arms, citizens,
Form battalions.
March on,
March on,
May impure blood,
Water our fields.

Guess it has to be heard to be appreciated.
