a good night song for all radio WA2K listeners

this comes from paul mccartney and wings rather odd album back to the egg

don't know if paul wrote this or if it's an older song

anyone else know?

PAUL MCCARTNEY & WINGS lyrics - "Baby's Request"

When the moon lays his head on a pillow
And the stars settle down for a rest,
Just do me one small favour, I beg you,
Please play me my baby's request.
It's the song that we heard when we started.
Now the birds have all flown from our nest,
But you could bring back mem'ries departed
By playing my baby's request.
My baby said that she knows how it goes
But you're the one who really knows,
So go ahead, just one more time and then we'll go to bed.

[solo]

But you could bring back mem'ries departed
By playing my baby's request.
My baby says she knows how it goes but you're the one that really knows.
So go ahead, just one more time and then we'll go to bed.
When the moon lays his head on a pillow
And the star settles down for a rest,
Just do me one small favour, I beg you,
Please play me baby's request.
Mh-hm, play me baby's request.
Please! Play me my baby's request -- one more time.

DJ. I Just listened to a snippet of Annie Lennox doing Everytime We Say Goodbye at Amazon. I like it. Thanks

Looks like Baby's request was written by Paul McCartney.

The Flying Saucer - Buchanan & Goodman

We interrupt this record
To bring you a special bulletin
The reports of a flying saucer
Hovering over the city
Have been confirmed
The flying saucers are real

(Too real when I feel)
(What my heart can't conceal)

That was The Clatters
Recording, Too Real

We switch you now to our
On the spot reporter downtown

(Come on, baby)
(Let's go downtown)

Take it away
John Cameron Cameron

This is John
Cameron Cameron downtown
Pardon me, madam
Would you tell our audience
What would you do if
The saucer were to land

(Duck back in the alley)

Thank you and now
That gentleman there

(What I'm gonna do)
(Is hard to tell)

And the gentleman
With the guitar
What would you do, sir

(Just take a walk)
(Down lonely street)

Thank you
We return you now...

This is Drak
Your outer space disc jockey
With a request for earth

(Earth angel, earth angel)

That was The Pelicans outer
Space recording, Earth
I`ve just been handed a bulletin
The flying saucer has just landed
We switch you again downtown

Here we are again
We have with us Professor
Sir Cedric Pentingmode
Of the British Institute
And the professor is approaching
The saucer to see if there`s
Possibly any sign of life aboard

Well, I'm sure something
Are you there

(I hear you knocking)
(But you can't come in)

That was Laughing
Lewis's record, Knocking

This is John Cameron
Cameron on the spot
And now I believe we're
About to hear the words of
the first spaceman ever
To land on Earth

(Womp bop a loo bop)
(A lomp bam boom)

And now here are the ball scores
Four to three, six to two
And eight to one

The impact of seeing
The first spaceman has
This reporter reeling

(Here I go reeling)
(Uh-oh, uh-oh...)

That was The Clatters again
With their big one, Uh-oh

This is John Cameron
Cameron again downtown
The spaceman has returned
To his ship and is taking off
We return you now to our studios

The flying saucer has gone
There is no threat of an invasion
However, the flying saucers
Are still around

(Still around)

We are not going
To interrupt this record
Yes, we are

The flying saucer
Has landed again
Washington, The Secretary
Of Defense has just said

(Ain't that a shame)

That was Skinny Dynamo's
Record, That's A Shame

This is John Cameron
Cameron, part two
Gathered around me are
Several of the spacemen
Tell us, have you come
To conquer the world

And now would you
Repeat that in English

(Don't want the world)
(To have and hold)

Hey, why don't you go back
Where you came from

(Don't be angry)
(And drive me away)

We return you now
To our studios

Here is a news item
From Washington
The President has just
Issued a statement to the
Spacemen and we quote

(You can do anything)
(But lay off of my)
(Blue suede shoes)

That was Pa Gherkins record, Shoes
We switch you again downtown

This is John Cameron
Cameron downtown
Professor Sir Cedric of
the British Institute
Tell us how were
The saucers able to land

Well, you see..

(The motor cooled down)
(The heat went down)

That was Huckle Berry`s recording
The Moter Cooled Down

This is John Cameron
Cameron again
I believe the spaceman has
A final parting word

(See you later, alligator)

We return you now
To our studios

The spacemen have gone again
But look to the skies
The saucers will
Always be there

(Always be there)

Goodbye, earth people

John Philip Sousa

"Liberty Bell"- wasn't that the "Monty Python's Flying Circus" theme tune?

Anyone remember Guy Mitchell singing "My Liberty Belle"?

Just musing.

Good morning, WA2K radio. dj and Raggedy, Baby's Request doesn't sound like Paul McCartney somehow, but don't ask me why.

edgar, that was very funny, but remember, Letty takes a licking and keeps on ticking. I saw what I saw, now I'm a believer. Seriously, folks, there has been a lot of activity on the media recently that stirs the imagination about celestial occurrences. I watched a documentary last night involving an ancient ruin that depicted a people who although had no written language, left unusual spirals in their abandonded city that spoke volumes about the heavens. I need to try and locate that info for our listeners.

Hey, George. You just won a free pass to the March Madness Parade being held in the Walmart parking lot. John Cameron Cameron will be there interviewing the man on the street about Broderick Crawford Day.

Well, McTag. I, for one, remember Belle by Guy Mitchell, but wasn't she a bit cracked? Razz

Hmmmm. Wonder if John of Virginia is snowbound?

Back later, listeners with important updates. (and if any one of you find a misspelled word, report it immediately to EOE)

I don't know which day is B Crawford Day. I have fond memories of some of the man's films, but don't don't know too much about him.

Good day to all.

Look what I found:

"As with his work for the Beatles, many of his (Paul McCartney) solo efforts were widely admired and have become household currency. Maybe I'm Amazed, Uncle Albert-Admiral Halsey, Live and Let Die, Band on the Run, Jet, Listen to What the Man Said, Mull of Kintyre, Coming Up, Ebony and Ivory, Pipes of Peace, No More Lonely Nights,My Brave Face, and Hope of Deliverance, are particularly well-known examples.

Those familiar with his catalogue will acknowledge the popularity of these, but point to a wealth of superior, but lesser-known compositions of startling inventiveness, buried on non-single album tracks and B-sides.

Songs such as Every Night, Dear Boy, Oh Woman Oh Why, Little Lamb Dragonfly, 1985, Venus and Mars, Famous Groupies, Baby's Request, One of these Days, Here Today, The Pound is Sinking, However Absurd, This One, Mistress and Maid , and Souvenir might be among the many pointed to by afficionados as exemplifying the range of Paul's talent."

My word, Raggedy. That's an amazing site. Shall we all write to Paul? The only song that I recognized was "Live and Let Die", which I really like. Hmmmm, bass guitar. We used to refer to that as a lap bass. (as opposed to an acoustic bass)

Hey, Brits. What's this all about?

Batman, Robin, and Captain America?

Thanks, George. I was thinking "Lion in the Streets" or something of that nature. There's a history mystery that's never really been resolved.

On another thread in the realm of WA2K, someone was exploring the origin of Indian Summer. I'm certain all those caught up in the snow storm could use it right now:

Summer, you old Indian Summer
You're the tear that comes after June-time's laughter
You see so many dreams that don't come true
Dreams we fashioned when Summertime was new

You are here to watch over
Some heart that is broken by a word that somebody left unspoken
You're the ghost of a romance in June going astray
Fading too soon, that's why I say
"Farewell to you, Indian Summer"

<extended sax solo>

A heart that is broken by a word that somebody left unspoken
You're the ghost of a romance in June going astray
Fading too soon, that's why I say
"Farewell to you, Indian Summer"

You old Indian Summer

Bob, It seems that we keep getting these coincidences. Having watched Medium last night on NBC, I'm beginning to take notice.

Amerind cultures have always fascinated me every since I was a child. When you finish, please give us a review, ok?

Stay tuned, listeners. We have something here that touches all, everywhere.
