Heh! Heh! That was definitely a touche, mousieur moby.

Wonder where our Raggedy is? I wanted to tell her that I watched a very old Tarzan movie last evening. It wasn't bad, either.

Here's a song for a newer Tarzan:

Phil Collins - You'll Be In My Heart Lyrics

Come stop your crying
It will be all right
Just take my hand Hold it tight

I will protect you
from all around you
I will be here
Don't you cry

For one so small,
you seem so strong
My arms will hold you,
keep you safe and warm
This bond between us
Can't be broken
I will be here
Don't you cry

'Cause you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more

You'll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You'll be here in my heart, always

Why can't they understand
the way we feel
They just don't trust
what they can't explain
I know we're different but,
deep inside us
We're not that different at all

And you'll be in my heart
Yes, you'll be in my heart
From this day on
Now and forever more

Don't listen to them
'Cause what do they know
We need each other,
to have, to hold
They'll see in time
I know

When destiny calls you
You must be strong
I may not be with you
But you've got to hold on
They'll see in time
I know
We'll show them together

'Cause you'll be in my heart
believe me you'll be in my heart
From this day on,
Now and forever more

Oh, you'll be in my heart
No matter what they say
You'll be in my heart, always
Always

Good day to all. Big thunderstorm knocked our power out for 5 hours yesterday. 93 degrees outside and 110 inside, but I'm not here to complain. I'm here to post pictures of macho men and gorgeous chicks, except I don't have a gorgeous chick photo today.

Oooh. I just saw Letty's post. It was Johnny Weissmuller in Tarzan, the Ape Man, wasn't it? I loved that movie. Very Happy

Funny, Raggedy. There's a super looking man and a vampire slayer.

We can do without the g.c.'s, PA. You and I will substitute. Razz

That movie must have been the very first Tarzan with Johnny Weissmuller. They had fake ears attached to the elephants, and I am given to understand that African elephants were entirely too wild to train, so they used Indian elephants in their stead.

That must have been some thunderstorm, gal. Old Thor was using planet earth for target practice, I guess.

Elephants? I don't remember any elephants.

Of course we can substitute Letty, but unfortunately the most recent picture I have of us is when they called us "The Blonde Bandits." I'll be darned if I can remember what we were singing, though.

Good grief, Raggedy. I look at the elephants, and you were looking elsewhere. Love it?

What were we singing? Let me think. Oh, yes. Pretty in Pink? Razz

Muse:

Please, Please, Please Let Me Get What I Want

Good times for a change
See, the luck I've had
Can make a good man
Turn bad
.
So please please please
Let me, let me, let me
Let me get what I want
This time

Haven't had a dream in a long time
See, the life I've had
Can make a good man bad
.
So for once in my life
Let me get what I want
Lord knows, it would be the first time
Lord knows, it would be the first time

Cool

Speaking of muse, listeners. I was thinking about the desert today, so let's go from the ridiculous to the sublime.(where is Chi? Ah, he must be shy. <smile>)

How so very true:

Stephen Crane

In the Desert

In the desert
I saw a creature, naked, bestial,
Who, squatting upon the ground,
Held his heart in his hands,
And ate of it.
I said, "Is it good, friend?"
"It is bitter - bitter", he answered,
"But I like it
Because it is bitter,
And because it is my heart."

hi letty , i changed my avatar

Wanna Dance Babe?

Sassy chick with cigarette
snap my Zippo,
light her up
standing close
my fingers burnt
foxy lady
shimmering body
red hot glow
in her hair
close my eyes
thudding music
loud enough too wake the dead
dancing on a hot tin roof
my shoes are melting
bodies touching
pressing gently
rubbing softly
sparks are crackling
flame is rising
sweat wont douse it
passion
wrapping
oh so tightly
round my legs
weak & wobbly
reaching meltdown
falling fast
She's aloof now
floating upward to the roof
I'm just a useless pool
of manly molten DNA

Hey, John. A change does us all good, Brit. I like the new you. <smile> You know I love to dance, honey.

That song is just the thing to make us all do a move or two.

Want it fast or slow?

I can't get this one out of my head folks:

Let's Face the Music and Dance
Diana Krall

There may be trouble ahead
But while there's music and moonlight and love and romance
Let's face the music and dance

Before the fiddlers have fled
Before they ask us to pay the bill and while we still have the chance
Let's face the music and dance

Soon we'll be without the moon, humming a different tune and then
There may be teardrops to shed
So while there's moonlight and music and love and romance
Let's face the music and dance

All done in a minor key. Hmmmm. Love it!

'Big issue'

"We had a lot of inquiries from people which sparked an interest in the industry," said a spokeswoman for Lion Quality.

"We said OK, this is a big issue - people can't even boil an egg."

The best technique has taxed some of the greatest culinary experts in the past.

Hi-tech ink perfects egg boiling

The ink changes colour to show when the egg is cooked
The age-old argument over the best way to cook the perfect boiled egg could be a thing of the past thanks to a new hi-tech ink logo going on shells.
After cooking begins, an invisible, temperature-sensitive thermochromic print appears in black to indicate when an egg is soft, medium or hard-boiled.

The eggs, developed by UK assurance scheme Lion Quality, will be sold in three different types of cartons.

The new logos will start to appear on eggs in the next few months.

'Big issue'

"We had a lot of inquiries from people which sparked an interest in the industry," said a spokeswoman for Lion Quality.

"We said OK, this is a big issue - people can't even boil an egg."

The best technique has taxed some of the greatest culinary experts in the past.

In a 2005 survey conducted by the magazine Waitrose Food Illustrated, five leading chefs all came up with different solutions.

And in 1998, a TV series presented by Delia Smith included one show concentrating on the finer points of boiling an egg.

Smith said her How To Cook programme on the BBC intended to re-introduce people to the pleasures of cooking and herald a return to basic skills.

A Horse With No Name -- America

On the first part of the journey
I was looking at all the life
There were plants and birds and rocks and things
There was sand and hills and rings
The first thing I met was a fly with a buzz
And the sky with no clouds
The heat was hot and the ground was dry
But the air was full of sound

Ive been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
cause there aint no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...

After two days in the desert sun
My skin began to turn red
After three days in the desert fun
I was looking at a river bed
And the story it told of a river that flowed
Made me sad to think it was dead

You see Ive been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
cause there aint no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...

After nine days I let the horse run free
cause the desert had turned to sea
There were plants and birds and rocks and things
There was sand and hills and rings
The ocean is a desert with its life underground
And a perfect disguise above
Under the cities lies a heart made of ground
But the humans will give no love

You see Ive been through the desert on a horse with no name
It felt good to be out of the rain
In the desert you can remember your name
cause there aint no one for to give you no pain
La, la ...

Ah, folks. Proving once again that the way to a man's heart is via his stomach.

Hey, Brit. Most of us here know how to boil an egg without the help of high tech.

Hey, isn't there a dance called the chicken? Well, there is one called The Egg Dance:

Tico. How did you slip in to our little studio on a horse? Want me to name him?

Love that song, incidentally, Kansas.

This is a good name for our four legged friend:

Old faithful we rode the range together
Old faithful in every kind of weather
When your roundup days are over
There'll be pastures white with clover
For you old faithful pal of mine

Hurry up old fellow cause the moon is yellow tonight
Hurry up old fellow cause the moon is mellow and bright
There's a coyote howlin' to the moon above
So carry me back to the one I love
Hurry up old fellow cause we gotta get home tonight

Old faithful we rode the range together...
For you old faithful pal of mine

AS for the eggs, well think Big Endians & Little Endians & the answer will swiftly be found

UhOh, John. You just reminded me of Wilson Pickett. Hey, let's not walk on eggs, buddy:

Artist: Wilson Pickett
Song: Land Of A Thousand Dances

1-2-3
1-2-3
Ow! Uh! Alright! Uh!

Got to know how to pony
Like Bony Maronie
Mash potato, do the alligator
Put your hand on your hips, yeah
Let your backbone slip
Do the Watusi
Like my little Lucy
Hey! Uh!

Na na-na-na-na na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na na-na-na-na
I need somebody to help me say it one time
(Na na-na-na-na na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na na-na-na-na )
Wo--ow!

Saxophone solo

Wow! Uh! You know I feel alright! Huh! I feel pretty good y'all
Uh! Huh!
Na na-na-na-na na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na na-na-na-na
Come on y'all, let's say it one more time
(Na na-na-na-na na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na-na na-na-na-na )
Ooow!

Playing, it is a habit
With long tall Sally
Twistin' with Lucy
Doin' the Watusi
Roll over on your back
I like it like that
Do that Jerk-uh
Watch me work y'all
Ow! Do it!
Wow! Do it!
Just watch me do it

Aah help me
Aah help me
Aah help me
Aah help me

How I do miss dancing, listeners.

In a more serious animal mode, folks:

Three rare rhinos killed by poachers at Nepal national park Mon Jul 31, 6:13 AM ET

KATHMANDU (AFP) - Three rare one-horned rhinos were killed and one was wounded by poachers in areas around Chitwan National Park in southwest Nepal in the past week, park officials have said.

"The forest officials found two dead rhinos at two different community forests in Chitwan while one was found dead in Nawalparasi district in the past one week," said Tikaram Adhikari, chief conservation officer of the wildlife reserve, Monday.

He said one of the killed rhinos was pregnant.

"The poachers killed the pregnant rhino and took away the horn but were unable to extract horns from the other two, while another injured rhino, shot by the poachers, is undergoing treatment and is out of danger," Adhikari said.

The population of the endangered one-horned rhinoceros in Chitwan National Park dropped to 372 in 2005 from 544 in 2000.

In 2005 seven rhinos were killed by poachers in the park, Adhikari said. The animal's horn is valued for traditional Chinese medicine in Asia.

Chitwan National Park, one of Nepal's major tourist sites, is home to most of the country's one horned rhinos.

I guess the old legends are still with us; pity, no?

Sorry, Walt. There may be no animals to which you could turn were you here with us today.

1st of August today, we reached the heart of the summer. Have a happy month everyone.

August

Music: Nikos Papazoglu
Lyrics: Nikos Papazoglu
Singer: Nikos Papazoglu

But why, why the song must be sad…
It is like it weaned away from my heart, all at once.
And this moment, when I get full of joy,
It climbed till my lips and drowned me.

You'll tell me: Keep your powers for the end…

I love you, but I can't find a voice to tell it to you,
And this is an unbearable longing.
I am melting in pain, because I feel,
That the road we are taking is impassable.

You'll tell me: Don't worry, it will end…

CHORUS
How can I forget her loose hair…
The sand which she was bathing like a waterfall…
As she was lowering her body near me, thousands of kisses,
Like diamonds, she was giving them to me.

I'll go, no matter if the ending will be bad…

During which ecstasy, which magical dance,
A creature like that could be born…
From which distant star it could be,
The light which is hidden in her eyes…

And how lucky I am to have seen it…

Inside her glance, there is a huge sky,
Which is glittering, is becoming clouding, is reflecting…
But as the night falls the sky gets full of light,
An August Moon is rising.

And the prison glimmers from the inside…

CHORUS

J_B recommended Sonny Landreth to me. From the cd "Levee Town"

USS Zydecoldsmobile

You can feel the horses under the hood
Through thick and thin pull us out of the wood
She's the smoothest ride, yeah, you'll ever feel
She's the Delta slide of automobiles

Double clutchin' on the backseat
I hear you, yeah, with your main squeeze
Playing triple row accordian fills
In the USS ZydecOldsmobile

Port of Call Opelousas
Port of Call Lawtell
Port of Call Frilot Cove
In the USS ZydecOldsmobile

Mardi Gras run block the road
Park the car and join the show
Get up on the trunk and dance at will
Aboard the USS ZydecOldsmobile

Port of Call Opelousas
Port of Call Lawtell
Port of Call Frilot Cove
In the USS ZydecOldsmobile

Yeah, Spirit moves through everyone
We have faith and we have fun
God bless the turning wheel
Of my USS ZydecOldsmobile

Port of Call Opelousas
Port of Call Lawtell
Port of Call Frilot Cove
In the USS ZydecOldsmobile

Come ride with me in my ZydecOldsmobile
Double clutchin' with me in my ZydecOldsmobile
Hip shakin' with me in my ZydecOldsmobile
Come ride with me in my ZydecOldsmobile

Good morning, WA2K listeners and contributors.

What a nice August the first it is going to be, especially seeing Greece and Germany.<smile>

Thanks, Ellinas and Walter for both songs. They are so very different and a welcome diversion.

Need some good strong coffee this morning, and I am certain I will be bright eyed and bushy tailed.

Breaking news:

Castro's condition unknown after surgery By ANITA SNOW, Associated Press Writer
37 minutes ago

HAVANA - Little was known of Fidel Castro's condition Tuesday after he underwent an operation and temporarily turned over the Cuban presidency to his brother Raul, ushering in a period of uncertainty at home and celebrations by his enemies abroad.

The surprise announcement that Castro had been operated on to repair a "sharp intestinal crisis with sustained bleeding" stunned Cubans on the island and in exile, and marked the first time that Castro, two weeks away from 80th birthday, had relinquished power in 47 years of absolute rule.

The news came Monday night in a statement read on state television by his secretary Carlos Valenciaga. The message said Castro's condition was apparently due to stress from a heavy work schedule during recent trips to Argentina and eastern Cuba. He did not appear on the broadcast.

The rest of the story, listeners:

I am so playful today.
Cricket
(From the album "PRESERVATION: ACT 1")

(Sung by The Vicar)

Some people say that life is a game, well if this is so
I'd like to know the rules on which this game of life is based.
I know of no game more fitting than the age old game of cricket
It has honour, it has character and it's British.
Now God laid down the rules of life when he wrote those Ten Commandments
And to cricket those ten same rules shall apply.
Show compassion and self-righteousness and be honest above all
And come to God's call with bat and ball.

Now the Devil has a player and he's called the Demon Bowler,
He's shrewd, he's rude and he's wicked.
He is sent by Sinful Satan and he's out to take your wicket
And you know that that's not cricket.
He'll baffle you with googlies with leg breaks and offspin
But keep a level head and don't let that demon in.
So keep a straight bat at all times, let the Bible be your guide
And you'll get by, yes you'll get by.

All through your life he'll try to bowl you out
Beware the Demon bowler.
He's crafty and deceitful and he'll try to L.B.W.,
And bowl a maiden over.
The Devil takes the weak in spirit and so we must always be courageous
And remember that God is on your side.
So keep old Satan in your sights and play the straight and narrow line
And you'll get by, yes you'll get by.
