there's a sweated-through shirt thrown over a chair
an old photo of Anna Magnani in her underwear
there's an old dog barking at a brand new moon
and a sign in every window sayin' "Be Back Soon"

but where is maria?

there's a young fellow rockin' in a thump thump car
and he's smug as a commentator on NPR
and our foolish government tries to save face
while the whole world struggles to become one bland place

but where is maria?

there's a millionaire singing about nothing at all
but he looks pretty good and he's knocking 'em dead down at the mall
there's a woman weary of the look in men's eyes
when they don't look she just turns away and sighs

but where is maria?

there's a dirty rain falling like the tears of shame
she's the only one I know who'd dance with me in such a rain

there's a guru snoozin' in a limousine
and a whole industry pumping blood into recycled scenes
there'll be one corporation selling one little box
it'll do what you want and tell you what you want and cost whatever you got

but where is maria?

there's a pile of letters from lovers friends
if your dream came true would you still want it then
a series of images on an empty screen
no conclusions just a kiss from Mr. In-Between

but where is maria?

there's a wheel of symbols and a wheel of spokes
let's face it, friends, these are station wagons and we're our folks
the cafe's open the hotel's shut down
but lord these bad habits sure do stick around

but where is maria?

behind the camera I saw her smile
I'd like to go back to that room and stay there for a while

there's a stranger's body with an old friend's face
there's a wild parade and a slow fade and a touch of grace
can I visit your house? can I sleep in your bed?
ah maria, if I rub your back will you rub my head?

but where is maria?

eoe, I'm thinking perhaps The Phantom. Didn't Billy Zane make a movie of the ghost who walks?

Well, Francis, your bridge appeared as an X marks the spot, and I only saw half your face. Was that your best side? <smile>

Dys, Great song. Trying to recall Anna--hmmmmm. The Rose Tatoo? Never on a Sunday?

Hey, dj. I didn't see no Sunday song amidst your discography.

Remember this parody?

Brothers that make you throw a fit,
Brothers that make you bite and hit.
Brother, get off of mother,
Get rid of all of the brothers today.

Well done thy good and faithful researcher. <smile>

An actress and a writer. She of the violet eyes, and he of the quill and scroll.

And speaking of eating disorders, what did dys order for breakfast this morning? Scrambled eggs with catsup? Razz

Well, for me, it's brunch time. Back later fans.

A wonderful film:

Never on Sunday

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melina_Mercouri

A Sunday song

Sunday Kind of Love Lyrics
Artist: Reba McEntire

I want a Sunday Kind of Love.
A love to last, past Saturday night.
And I'd like to know it's more than love at first sight.
I want a Sunday Kind of Love.
And I want a, a love that's on the square.

Can't seem to find somebody, someone to care.
And I'm on a lonely road that leads to nowhere.
I need a Sunday kind of love.
I do all my Sunday dreaming, and all my scheming.
Every minute, every hour, every day
And I'm hoping to discover a certain kind of
lover Who will show me the way.
And my arms need someone to imput.
To keep me warm when Monday's and Tuesday's grow
cold. And I need a love for all my life to have
and to hold.
I want a Sunday kind of love.
Oh yeahhhhh I don't want a
Monday or a Tuesday, Wednesday or a Thursday,
Friday or Saturday I don't want nothing baby.
I want a Sunday Kind of Love

Fantastic, Francis and dys.

Hmmm. Perhaps the left side is the Phantom of the Opera, Francis.

A one week special, dj? What chain store did you borrow that from? Surely, not Walmart. Very Happy

Bob, you read my mind. What did you sing last night?

Well, listeners, we're missing Denmark and England and Germany. And the Prince of Wales seems to have vanished.

Have we found Maria yet?

This isn't anything new, listeners, but I thought it worth examining:

You Won't Believe What Stops Skin Cancer
Exposure to sunlight is known as a major risk factor for the potentially fatal skin cancer melanoma. But a new study from the University of New Mexico shows that sunlight may also help melanoma victims survive the disease, something that the researchers admit is totally counterintuitive, reports The Associated Press.

Hi Letty

Sang in Medway last night.

Can't Help Falling in Love -- Elvis Presley
The Lady is a Tramp -------- Frank Sinatra
Song Sung Blue ------------ Neil Diamond
Crazy ------------------------ Patsy Cline
My Kind of Town ------------ Frank Sinatra

Good crowd for the most part. One really large guy started heckling one of the guys who was singing. When he started swearing and stood up five guys decided to surround him and showed him this way to the egress. Pretty long drive so I got in about 2:00 am. Luckily I'm part owl so didn't fall asleep at the wheel.

Great, Bob. One of the swingingest songs Sinatra ever did was The Lady is a Tramp.

Beautiful, Francis. In thinking about the phantom, I do wonder who played the very first opera man. I think it must have been the Man of a Thousand Faces:

It really is a nice tune with a jazzy beat to it. For people who like show tunes it's a particular treat. Nice tempo change at "she likes the free fresh wind in her hair". It was well received.

The Lady is a Tramp

She gets too hungry, for dinner at eight
She loves the theater, but doesn't come late
She'd never bother, with people she'd hate
That's why the lady is a tramp

Doesn't like crap games, with barons and earls
Won't go to Harlem, in ermine and pearls
Won't dish the dirt, with the rest of those girls
That's why the lady is a tramp

She loves the free, fresh wind in her hair
Life without care
She's broke, but it's o'k
She hates California, it's cold and it's damp
That's why the lady is a tramp

Doesn't like dice games, with sharpies and frauds
Won't go to Harlem, in Lincolns or Fords
Won't dish the dirt, with the rest of those broads
That's why the lady is a tramp
