Good morning, WA2K fans, listeners, and staff.

It seems that edgar and eoe solved a wee problem concerning Barbara Lewis. I am not familiar with the lady, but the lyrics are really good.

Francis, I thought as much, and I have many questions about champagne as well. Thank you for that information, especially the part about the ewe's milk.

My word, Bob. Having taught in a small, but historic coal mining town, I can appreciate your Sixteen Tons. Bet you rocked 'em with that goodie. Are you a tenor, bass, or what?

dj, I do believe that you have Saturday Night Fever. <smile> I really enjoyed the Irish one.

Algis, welcome to WA2K, my friend. We could use a little gourmet section on our station. Phoenix is a fantastic researcher, as is Raggedyaggie and ae. We have no want of experts here.

Here's a little fun song, listeners:

In Spain they say "Si, Si"
In France you'll hear "Oui, Oui"
Ev'ry little Dutch girl says "Ya, Ya"
Ev'ry little Russian says "Da, Da"

But, Sweetheart, tell me why
No matter how I try
You won't listen to my plea
Won't say "Yes" in any language to me
When will you say "Si, Si"

"Si, Si", "Si, Si"
"Si, Si", "Si, Si"
Ev'ry little Dutch girl says "Ya, Ya", ya-ya-ya
Ev'ry little Russian says "Da, Da"

But, Sweetheart, oh, why won't you tell me why
No matter how m-m-much I try, please tell me why
La-la-la-la-da, won't listen to my plea
Won't say "Yes" on any language to me
Oh-woh, and when you say "Si, Si", say "Si, Si"

La la la la la la la da da da da
La da da da da da da da
La da da da da da da da
Da da da da da da da da daaa

(Orchestral Interlude)

If you could only say "Si, Si", "Oui, Oui", "Ya, Ya", "Da, Da,"
Da da da la da
And all my life would be a song,
Nothing could go wrong, go wrong, go wrong

If you give in, I'll win
I won't give up, give up
Darling, if you give in
I must hear you say "Si, Si"

Oh, won't you listen to my plea
Please say "Yes" in any language to me
Won't you say "Si, Si", say "Si, Si"

(Transcribed from the Andrews Sisters
recording by Mel Priddle - January 2005)

This is a tiny tribute to all the countries that are represented on WA2K

Sixteen Tons went over so well, decided to play Dark As a Dungeon. In the Belafonte version, right when the recording equipment gets activated a giant clap of thunder from a storm outside the building is the first sound heard . . . Let's listen.

Come all you young fellers so young and so fine
Seek not your fortune in the dark dreary mine
It'll form as a habit it'll seep in your soul
Till the blood in your veins runs black as the coal

For it's dark as a dungeon and it's damp as the dew
Where the dangers are double the pleasures are few
Where the rain never falls the sun never shines
Oh God it's dark as a dungeon way down in the mines

Oh it's many a man I've known in my day
Who lived just to labor his whole life away
Like a fiend for his dope a drunkard his wine
A man will have lust for the lure of the mine

Oh I hope when I die and the ages do roll
Yes my body will harden and turn into coal
And I look from the door of my heavenly home
To see a poor miner a diggin' my bones

Great version, edgar. Do you like Harry? Laughing You folks live in the fast lane and Letty is still dialing.

Ah, there's the man in black. Thanks, Raggedy. Didn't I hear somewhere that Joaquin Phoenix was scheduled to do Cash's life story?

Back to the google board. <smile>

I was right, listeners and staff. Joaquin Phoenix will do The Johnny Cash Story, and do his own singing:

Writer-director James Mangold and producer Cathy Konrad have formed Tree Line Films and have set their first project at Disney with a thriller called "Follow Me" that Mangold plans to direct. ¶ Tree Line will be based at Sony, under the terms of the pre-existing deal in place for Konrad, who has produced 16 films that include the "Scream" series and all of Mangold's films since his breakthrough on "Cop Land."… ¶ The formation of Tree Line formalizes the couple's intent to work together more often on films, allowing Mangold to become more involved in the ones he doesn't write and direct. The prolific Konrad will produce some films solo, and the Tree Line banner will be on several films the pair has developed for Mangold to direct.
Taking a 'Walk': That includes "Walk the Line," the Columbia-based Johnny Cash biopic that begins production early next year and stars Joaquin Phoenix as the original Man in Black and Reese Witherspoon as his wife June Carter Cash. Konrad is producing with James Keach.

Mangold and Gill Dennis wrote the script with the full cooperation of Cash and his wife before they died. The music is being produced by T-Bone Burnett ("O Brother, Where Art Thou?"). Pic is Cash's story up to 1968, after he launched his star along with the likes of Elvis Presley, Roy Orbison and Jerry Lee Lewis.

"It was the most amazing window that led to the birth of rock and roll," said Mangold, whose long interview sessions with Cash inform the script. (WMA and Management 360 rep Mangold.)

Frankly, Raggedy and all. I don't know what I did. I need to go back to the test forum I suppose.

C.I. I'm lucky if I can get cable. <smile> old radio was so much more complicated because sound effects needed to make the listeners hear and see. Well, I shall return ( I hope)
