Well, there's our Try, listeners. Yes, buddy, every one must have a song. What's yours? Mine tends to vary from mood swing to mood swing.

Today:

Dedicated to those who say: "Your call is important to us."

Answer me, oh, my love
Just what sin have I been guilty of?
Tell me how I came to lose your love
Please answer me, sweetheart
You were mine yesterday
I believed that love was here to stay
Won`t you tell me where I`ve gone astray?
Please answer me, my love
If you`re happier without me
I`ll try not to care
But if you still think about me
Please listen to my prayer
You must know I`ve been true
Won`t you say that we can start anew?
In my sorrow now I turn to you
Please answer me, my love
<instrumental>
(If you`re happier without me)
(I`ll try not to care)
But if you still think about me
Please listen to my prayer
You must know (you must know)I`ve been true (I`ve been true)
Won`t you say that we can start anew?
In my sorrow now I turn to you
Please answer me, my love
Answer me, my love.

Laughing Crying or Very sad

Incidentally, folks. I found Mr. Turtle. He is having the same problem as I, so he had to cool off or die. <smile>

A song describing the situation of the axis occupation in WW2, when the Germans were executing the resisters.

Music: Gianis Spanos
Lyrics: Lefteris Papadopoulos
Singer: Georgios Dallaras

In the lot

They putted you in a corner and you were a young lad,
They putted you in a corner and they were four soldiers,
They putted you in a corner and they were pointing your heart,
They putted you in a corner and it was a cold morning.

CHORUS
Life was waiting for you, and a hardworking mother,
And that morning you became a red lily in the lot.

They putted you in a corner and your destiny was crying farther on
They putted you in a corner and even Charon* was carrying a gun.
They putted you in a corner, but you were looking at them and laughing!
They putted you in a corner, and it was a cold morning.

CHORUS

*Charon: Personificaiton of death, the grimreaper.

One more song:

Music: Apostolos Kaldaras
Lyrics: Eutichea Papagiannopoulou
Singer: Stamatis Kokotas

Deceptive dream

With a crazy dream, a deceptive dream,
we both began.
But in the half of our road, suddenly half of the stars,
stamped out from our Sky.

CHORUS
Which destiny is jealous of me? Which envious eye?
To lose a love before I enjoy it.
Like a ship that wrecked, like a water-lily that plucked,
In the muddy water of the lake.

With a few hopes, even deceptive hopes,
I am waiting for you to come back.
My crazy dream, my "wrecked" dream,
might even become true.

CHORUS

Ellinas, that is a song of passion, my friend. If I may, for the English translation, that should be they "put" you in a corner. The line about Charon was a powerful line, Greece. Thank you for a memory of the Styx.

Your deceptive dream is awesome as well. We enjoy your translations and love having you here.

Thanks. Translating these songs is also a great chance to improve my English. I had translated from English to Greek many times before, but this is the first time I do the opposite for whole texts Smile.

Which proves, listeners and Ellinas, that intelligence is really the willingness to learn. English grammar is quite inconsistent, no?

Not exactly a happy poem, but often, bluntness is called for.

The Gate of Charon.

disolved from redemption
chiming of the whispers
becomes the path of damnation
as the echo of prayers
denied from their salvation
passing from their souls
dying from the ashes in flood

followed in death they become
damnation for their crimes
coins placed upon their eyes
waiting for the gates of Charon
becoming from the descent
of the one, the king of flies,
carrying the echoes of the wounded
upon their hands, bare the blood,

Followed from their lives
into demise, the hands of Charon
of their sleep falling from grace
spending eternity within a lake of piss
wounds cutting into their flesh
and buring to their soul and bone
when all that is left without answer
devoured by the demon, head first
screaming for their death, yet alive

drawn into the eyes of the blind
becoming from them in death
closer they become to the end
as it comes among their final breath
in a darkness they weep blood
as they hear a tolling of the bell,
and the writing upon the wall,
words telling of their personal hell,
upon their hands, death in floods

closer to the path, souls they burn
to hell they follow, too late they learn
all that is holy they denied, walked away
in their eyes and paths of destruction,
a path of eternal demise waiting for them,
closer to the lies they see before their eyes
walking closer to the paths of hell,
looking on into the eyes of Charon
as waiting for them to open the gates,
becoming from the eyes of the guity
when they awaken to their waiting fate,

submerged in a lake of (bleep) they watch
when their mortal body walks to the blade
again they will see the reason they die,
for them to watch again as their soul fades
within the second death they will suffer
within the lake of brimstone and flames,
as they lay waiting for the ferryman
and the hand of the man looking on
in the fires that they face in damnation

I really prefer the happier poems, but one must try and maintain a balance on WA2K radio.

Very Happy

Well it has a different structure. It is simpler to learn but sometimes not expressive. Greek looks more like German gramatically. I could have some difficulties in translating as many Greek words don't exist in English with exactly the same meaning. Well I am not blaming anyone for this, possible misunderstandings is of my fault, as Greek language has 6 million words, only us have such flaws Smile.

letty, something cool & relaxing by jimi hendrix for anyone hot & bothered Cool

Waterfall, nothing can harm me at all,
my worries seem so very small
with my waterfall.

I can see my rainbow calling me
through the misty breeze
of my waterfall.

Some people say day-dreaming's
for the lazy minded fools
with nothing else to do.

So let them laugh, laugh at me,
so just as long as I have you
to see me through,
I have nothing to lose 'long as I have you.

Waterfall, don't ever change your ways.
Come with me for a million days,
Oh, my waterfall.

Later, Ellinas, I will acquaint you with the Movie, O Brother Where Art Thou. It was supposed to parallel The Odyssey. The Cohen Bros. who wrote and produced it, had never read the thing. Rolling Eyes

Well, there is that Turtle man with a "cool" song. I gotta play catch up. <smile>

Perhaps it would be a good idea to move to…

Higher Ground
STEVIE WONDER Lyrics

People keep on learnin'
Soldiers keep on warrin'
World keep on turnin'
'Cause it won't be too long.

Powers keep on lyin'
While your people
Keep on dyin'
World, keep on turnin'
'Cause it won't be for long.

I'm so darn glad He let me try it again
'Cause my last time on earth I lived a whole world of sin
I'm so glad that I know more than I knew then
Gonna keep on tryin'
Till I reach the highest ground.

Teachers, keep on teachin'
Preachers, keep on preachin'
World, keep on turnin'
'Cause it won't be too long, oh no.

Lovers, keep on lovin'
Believers, keep on believin'
Sleepers, just start sleepin'
'Cause it won't be too long, oh no.

I'm so glad that He let me try it again
'Cause my last time on earth I lived a whole world of sin
I'm so glad that I know more than I knew then
Gonna keep on tryin'
Till I reach my highest ground, whew.

Till I reach my highest ground, oh no
No one's gonna bring me down, oh no
Till I reach my highest ground
Don't you let nobody bring you down
They'll sho 'nuff try
God is gonna show you higher ground
He's the only friend you have around.

And, folks, an antithesis for our Try and an example for our Ellinas, because this one was from O Brother Where Art Thou.

I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow
Soggy Bottom Boys
(O Brother, Where Art Thou?)

(In constant sorrow through his days )

I am a man of constant sorrow
I've seen trouble all my day.
I bid farewell to old Kentucky
The place where I was born and raised.
(The place where he was born and raised )

For six long years I've been in trouble
No pleasures here on earth I found
For in this world I'm bound to ramble
I have no friends to help me now.

(chorus) He has no friends to help him now

It's fare thee well my old true lover
I never expect to see you again
For I'm bound to ride that northern railroad
Perhaps I'll die upon this train.

(chorus) Perhaps he'll die upon this train.

You can bury me in some deep valley
For many years where I may lay
Then you may learn to love another
While I am sleeping in my grave.

(chorus) While he is sleeping in his grave.

Maybe your friends think I'm just a stranger
My face you'll never see no more.
But there is one promise that is given
I'll meet you on God's golden shore.

(chorus) He'll meet you on God's golden shore.

Good, Ellinas. I have been trying to get a discussion going on the parallels forever, and now this seems like the perfect time.

Obviously, George Clooney is Odysseus and his companions are the "crew". There are sirens and perhaps Homer, but the rest is dubious. Excellent movie, however, because viewers can get a general idea of the great depression in America, but it is very surrealistic.

Hollies
It's In Everyone Of Us lyrics

It's in everyone of us
To be wise
Find your heart
Open up both your eyes
We can all know everything
Without ever knowing why
It's in everyone of us
By and by

It's in everyone of us
To be wise
Find your heart
Open up both your eyes
We can all know everything
Without ever knowing why
It's in everyone of us
By and by

It's in everyone of us
I just remembered
It's like I've been sleepin' forty years
I'm not awake as I can be
But my seein's better
I can see, through the tears
I've been realisin' bad
I bought this ticket
And watching only half of the show
But there is scenery and lights
And a cast of thousands
You all know (you all know) what I know (what I know)
And it's good
That it's so

It's in everyone of us
To be wise
Find your heart
Open up both your eyes
We can all know everything
Without ever knowing why
It's in everyone of us
By and by and

It's in everyone of us
By and by

ah, yes, Try. The solomon effect, and how beautifully the Hollies sang it.

No explanation for this one, folks:

Dear Lord and Father of mankind,
Forgive our foolish ways!
Re-clothe us in our rightful mind,
In purer lives thy service find,
In deeper reverence praise.

In simple trust like theirs who heard,
Beside the Syrian sea,
The gracious calling of the Lord,
Let us, like them, without a word
Rise up and follow thee.

O Sabbath rest by Galilee!
O calm of hills above,
Where Jesus knelt to share with thee
The silence of eternity,
Interpreted by love!

Drop thy still dews of quietness,
Till all our strivings cease;
Take from our souls the strain and stress,
And let our ordered lives confess
The beauty of thy peace.

Breathe through the heats of our desire
Thy coolness and thy balm;
Let sense be dumb, let flesh retire;
Speak through the earthquake, wind, and fire,
O still small voice of calm!

Running On Empty
Jackson Browne

Looking out at the road
Rushing under my wheels
Looking back at the years gone by
Like so many summer fields
In sixty-five I was seventeen
And running up one-on-one
I don't know where I'm running now
I'm just running on

Running on, running on empty
Running on, running blind
Running on, running into the sun
But I'm running behind

Gotta do what you can
Just to keep your love alive
Trying not to confuse it
With what you do to survive
In sixty-nine I was twenty-one
And I called the road my own
I don't know when that road turned
Into the road I'm on

Running on, running on empty
Running on, running blind
Running on, running into the sun
But I'm running behind

Everyone I know, everywhere I go
People need some reason to believe
I don't know about anyone but me
If it takes all night, that'll be all right
If I can get you to smile before I leave

Looking out at the road rushing under my wheels
I don't know how to tell you
All just how crazy this life feels
I look around for the friends
That I used to turn to to pull me through
Looking into their eyes I see them running too

Running on, running on empty
Running on, running blind
Running on, running into the sun
But I'm running behind

Honey, you really tempt me
You know the way you look so kind
I'd love to stick around but I'm running behind
You know I don't even know what I'm hoping to find
Running into the sun but I'm running behind

Ah, edgar. We have played it all on our little radio, right? We're an equal opportunity station: How long ago we played this one, Texas.

Eagles

Well, I'm running down the road
tryin' to loosen my load
I've got seven women on
my mind,
Four that wanna own me,
Two that wanna stone me,
One says she's a friend of mine
Take It easy, take it easy
Don't let the sound of your own wheels
drive you crazy
Lighten up while you still can
don't even try to understand
Just find a place to make your stand
and take it easy
Well, I'm a standing on a corner
in Winslow, Arizona
and such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed
Ford slowin' down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
gonna save me
We may lose and we may win though
we will never be here again
so open up, I'm climbin' in,
so take it easy
Well I'm running down the road trying to loosen
my load, got a world of trouble on my mind
lookin' for a lover who won't blow my
cover, she's so hard to find
Take it easy, take it easy
don't let the sound of your own
wheels make you crazy
come on baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
gonna save me, oh oh oh
Oh we got it easy
We oughta take it easy

A new feature on our radio station tonight, folks. A conversation between Booker T. Washington and Emily Dickinson:

Emily:

Success is counted sweetest

Success is counted sweetest
By those who ne'er succeed.
To comprehend a nectar
Requires sorest need.

Not one of all the purple Host
Who took the Flag to-day
Can tell the definition,
So clear, of Victory,

As he, defeated, dying,
On whose forbidden ear
The distant strains of triumph
Break, agonized and clear.

Booker T.

Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome.
