One more, a small one, by Sfakianakis, the same singer I previously posted.

Music: Christos Chryssovergis
Lyrics: Spyros Giatras
Singer: Notis Sfakianakis

The eagle

Even if you cut my wings, not to fly again,
I will go high again, helped by the smoke of my fire.

CHORUS
The eagle dies at the air,
Free and strong.
When the bullet of heartlessness hits him,
The heaven embraces him.

My aquiline tear, is not going to reach the ground,
You are going to seek for me in the evenings, sleep will not be coming to you.

CHORUS

Ellinas, that is breathtaking. Such imagery and diction in that song. It does remind me of this poem,Greece:

The Eagle
by Lord Alfred Tennyson

(Fragment)

He clasps the crag with crooked hands;
Close to the sun in lonely lands,
Ringed with the azure world, he stands.

The wrinkled sea beneath him crawls;
He watches from his mountain walls,
And like a thunderbolt he falls.

Lyric poetry was always designed to be set to music, listeners.

ABBA
"Eagle" Lyrics

They came flying from far away, now I'm under their spell
I love hearing the stories that they tell
They've seen places beyond my land, and they've found new horizons
They speak strangely but I understand

And I dream I'm an eagle
And I dream I can spread my wings
Flying high, high, I'm a bird in the sky
I'm an eagle that rides on the breeze
High, high, what a feeling to fly
Over mountains and forests and seas
And to go anywhere that I please.

As all good friends we talk all night, and we fly wing to wing
I have questions and they know everything
There's no limit to what I feel, we climb higher and higher
Am I dreaming or is it all real?

Is it true I'm an eagle?
Is it true I can spread my wings?
Flying high, high, I'm a bird in the sky
(I'm an eagle)
I'm an eagle that rides on the breeze
High, high, what a feeling to fly
Over mountains and forests and seas
And to go anywhere that I please

And I dream I'm an eagle
And I dream I can spread my wings
Flying high, high, I'm a bird in the sky
(I'm an eagle)
I'm an eagle that rides on the breeze
High, high, what a feeling to fly
(What a feeling)
Over mountains and forests and seas
Flying high, high, I'm a bird in the sky
(I'm an eagle)
I'm an eagle that rides on the breeze
High, high, what a feeling to fly
(What a feeling)
Over mountains and forests and seas
And to go anywhere that I please

One more of my favorites. It has also allegorical lyrics and a simple rhythm but it is really nice to listen. I promise that the next song I will post will be simpler Smile.
Am I a good translator? If you see any serious errors in English grammar please tell it to me.

Music: Thanos Mikroutsikos
Lirycs: Alcaeos Alkis
Singer: Manolis Mitsias

Erotic

With a pirogue, you leave and you are going around,
the times when the rain becomes strong.
You are sailing at the land of the Visigoths,
and Hanging Gardens are earning you.
But you are slowly sawing your own wings…

Brine covered your naked body
I bring you sweet water from Delphi,
You said your life is going to be split in two,
and before I had the time to repudiate you three times,
the key of Heaven got rusty.

The caravan is running in the dust,
It is following your crazy shadow.
How can the mind be tamed with a sheet?
How the Mediterranean can be tied in ropes?
My dear love called Antigone.

CHORUS (2 times)
Which night melody adopted your light?
And in which galaxy I can find you now?
Here is Attica, a grey mine.
And I am a cheap military range,
where foreign soldiers are exercising and swearing.

Ah, butterfly. What a lovely eagle song by ABBA the palindrome. <smile>

Once again we thank you, dear Auzzie.

Ellinas, Such beauty and allusion. We love the implications and suggestions, my friend. I recall when I was a wee thing and really in to Greek mythology, calling Antigone, ANTI gone. I can find no fault with the grammar, but grammar is unimportant among the creative thoughts of songs and poetry.

For you:

STRANGE THAT THE GODLESS PROSPER

by: Sophocles

Strange is it that the godless, who have sprung
From evil-doers, should fare prosperously,
While good men, born of noble stock, should be
By adverse fortune vexed. It was ill done
For the gods thus to order lives of men.
What ought to be is this, that godly souls
Should from the gods gain some clear recompense
And the unjust pay some clear penalty;
So none would prosper who are base of soul.

Good morning Radio aficionados…Take it away Robbie

Robbie Williams
Feel Lyrics

Come on hold my hand,
I wanna contact the living.
Not sure I understand,
This role I've been given.

I sit and talk to god
And he just laughs at my plans,
My head speaks a language, I don't understand.

(chorus)
I just wanna feel real love,
Feel the home that I live in.
'cause I got too much life,
Running through my veins, going to waste.

I don't wanna die,
But I ain't keen on living either.
Before I fall in love,
I'm preparing to leave her.
I scare myself to death,
That's why I keep on running.
Before I've arrived, I can see myself coming.

(chorus)
I just wanna feel real love,
Feel the home that I live in.
'cause I got too much life,
Running through my veins, going to waste.

And I need to feel, real love
And a life ever after.
I cannot get enough.

(instrumental)

(chorus)
I just wanna feel real love,
Feel the home that I live in,
I got too much love,
Running through my veins, going to waste.

I just wanna feel real love,
In a life ever after
There's a hole in my soul,
You can see it in my face, it's a real big place.

(instrumental)

Come and hold my hand,
I wanna contact the living,
Not sure I understand,
This role I've been given

Not sure I understand.

Thanks for your good words and the extract Letty.

Goneus means parent/ancestor in Greek and gonos descedant. So Antigone means the one who goes against the ancestor. (Antigonos the male form of the name).

By the way, here are two photos of different Antigone performances in the theater of Epidaurus:

And good morning to you and Robbie, Try. Love the song, buddy. I need to look into this Williams guy more, I guess.

Ellinas, fantastic depictions. Who are the actors? The man on my left resembles Sean Connery.

Well, time for your PD to take a break for lunch:

This is cyber space, WA2K radio.

Indeed, he looks like him, I just noticed it but he is not. The woman is Philarete Comnenou and the men are Stephanos Kiriakides and Georgios Siskos I believe. I don't think you know them Very Happy .

In the second picture they are Maria Kechagioglu and Christos Kalavrouzos.

You are right, Ellinas. I don't know them.<smile>

Well, let's hear one from Paula Abdul:

Everybody's got to cry sometimes
I never understood the reason why
Suddenly the answer is so clear I'm...
Missing you
Never thought that we would end this way
And if I only had three words to say
They would simply flow so easy, I'm...
Missing you
Casa blanca and white orchids I sent to you
Just a symbol of hope that you still love me to
I'm missing you baby
I'm missing you honey
(I'm missing you)
We can't be through
I'm missing you darlin'
(I'm missing you)
Everybody's got to hurt sometimes
I always ask myself the question why
Now my pain easily explains, I...
I long for you

If I had a chance once again
I'd approach us like a love song
So tenderly I'd orchestrate us to be
(A sweet melody)
Sending you romantic cards
to remind you of us
Just a token to entice you to
Come back to love
I'm missing you baby
I'm missing you honey
(I'm missing you)
A love so true
I'm missing you darlin'
(I'm missing you)
Baby I will take the blame
So let's stop playing silly games
If it will bring you back to me
Baby I'll say that I'm sorry
I will gladly sacrifice
To have you back in my life
I'm beggin you honey please
Come back to me darlin'
Everybody's got to cry sometimes
I never understood the reason why
The answer is so clear to me now
[Chorus]

That doesn't quite say what the phrase "missing you" means. It is so much more than that, I think.

One more. Tthis one is simple as I promised, not allegorical Very Happy.

Music/Lyrics: Apostolos Kaldaras
Singer: Manolis Angelopoulos

Good Luck

I am not judging you for not loving me,
Your heart belongs only to you.
That's why I am leaving your dreams,
and good luck wherever you go.

CHORUS
I don't have hate against you,
You are controlling your own life.
I just made a mistake,
in the beatings of your own heart.
That's why I am leaving your dreams,
and good luck wherever you go.

I am not judging you for not loving me,
Your heart belongs to you,
That's why I am living your life,
and good luck wherever you go.

CHORUS

News from the world of art:

Cosmetics mogul pays record 135 mln dollars for Klimt portrait Mon Jun 19, 9:07 AM ET

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Makeup magnate and fine art enthusiast Ronald Lauder has paid 135 million dollars, the highest known price ever paid for a painting, for a 1907 Gustav Klimt portrait.

The portait, "Adele Bloch-Bauer 1", a gold-encrusted image of the wife of a Jewish sugar industrialist, is considered a masterpiece of the Austrian Art Nouveau painter.

"This is our Mona Lisa," The New York Times quoted Lauder as saying Monday. "It is a once-in-a-lifetime acquisition."

A real bargain, right?

My reaction exactly, Ellinas. See what our vanity and love of beauty has paid for? Let's hope that Keats is right.

A Thing of Beauty is a Joy for Ever

A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its loveliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.
Therefore, on every morrow, are we wreathing
A flowery band to bind us to the earth,
Spite of despondence, of the inhuman dearth
Of noble natures, of the gloomy days,
Of all the unhealthy and o'er-darken'd ways
Made for our searching: yes, in spite of all,
Some shape of beauty moves away the pall
From our dark spirits...

All I can say is…

I don't care if monday's blue
Tuesday's grey and wednesday too
Thursday I don't care about you
It's friday I'm in love

Monday you can fall apart
Tuesday wednesday break my heart
Thursday doesn't even start
It's friday I'm in love

Saturday wait
Sunday always comes too late
But friday never hesitate...

I don't care if monday's black
Tuesday wednesday heart attack
Thursday never looking back
It's friday I'm in love

Monday you can hold your head
Tuesday wednesday stay in bed
Or thursday watch the walls instead
It's friday I'm in love

Saturday wait
And sunday always comes too late
But friday never hesitate...

Good one to play after father's day: Razz

The Mama's and the Papa's

Monday, Monday
So good to me
Monday morning
It was all I hoped it would be
Oh, Monday morning
Monday morning couldn't guarantee
That Monday evening you would still
Be here with me

Monday, Monday
Can't trust that day
Monday, Monday
Sometimes it just turns out that way
Oh, Monday morning you gave me no warning
Of what was to be
Oh, Monday, Monday
How could you leave and not take me

Every other day
Every other day
Every other day of the week is fine (fine), yeah
But whenever Monday comes
But whenever Monday comes
You can find me crying all of the time

Monday, Monday
So good to me
Monday morning
It was all I hoped it would be
But, Monday morning
Monday morning couldn't guarantee
That Monday evening you would still
Be here with me

Monday, Monday
Can't trust that day
Monday, Monday
It just turns out that way
Oh, Monday, Monday
Won't go away
Monday, Monday
It's here to stay
Oh, Monday, Monday

Well, hello there, Eva. Yes, Keats is neats, Oklahoma. I love all the romantic poets, dear.

Lay Down Sally
Eric Clapton

There is nothing that is wrong
In wanting you to stay here with me
I know you've got somewhere to go
But won't you make yourself at home and stay with me
Don't you ever leave

Lay down Sally, and rest here in my arms
Don't you think you want someone to talk to
Lay down Sally, there's no need to leave so soon
I've been trying all night long just to talk to you

The sun ain't nearly on the rise
And we still got the moon and stars above
Underneath the velvet skies
Love is all that matters
Won't you stay with me
Don't you ever leave

Lay down Sally, and rest here in my arms
Don't you think you want someone to talk to
Lay down Sally, there's no need to leave so soon
I've been trying all night long just to talk to you

---- Instrumental Interlude ----

I long to see the morning light
Coloring your face so dreamily
So don't you go and say goodbye
You can lay your worries down and stay with me
Don't you ever leave

Lay down Sally, and rest here in my arms
Don't you think you want someone to talk to
Lay down Sally, there's no need to leave so soon
I've been trying all night long just to talk to you

Lay down Sally, and rest here in my arms
Don't you think you want someone to talk to
Lay down Sally, there's no need to leave so soon
I've been trying all night long just to talk to you

Baker Street
Gerry Rafferty

Winding your way down on Baker Street
Light in your head, and dead on your feet
Well another crazy day
You drink the night away
And forget about everything
This city desert makes you feel so cold,
Its got so many people but its got no soul
And it's taken you so long to find out you were wrong
When you thought it held everything

You used to think that it was so easy
You used to say that it was so easy
But you're tryin', you're tryin' now
Another year and then you'd be happy
Just one more year and then you'd be happy
But you're cryin', you're cryin' now

Way down the street there's a light in his place
He opens the door
He's got that look on his face
And he asks you where you've been
You tell him who you've seen
And you talk about anything
He's got this dream about buyin' some land
He's gonna give up the booze and the one night stands
And then he'll settle down
It's a quiet little town
And forget about everything
But you know he'll always keep movin'
You know he's never gonna stop movin'
'Cause he's rollin'
He's the rolling stone
And when you wake up it's a new mornin'
The sun is shining it's a new mornin'
And you're going, you're going home
