Goodnight, and TRY and rest well, buddy. <smile>

Hey, Texas. I don't know Billy, buddy, and you are right. Summertime was unique.

Wow, that reaping song reminded me of "A Nine pound Hammer." Let's see if I can remember it, folks:

Oh, a nine pound hammer, is a little too heavy,
Oh, a nine pound hammer, is a little too heavy.
Oh, a nine pound hammer, is a little too heavy Lord,

It killed John Henry
(it kille John Henry)
But it kill me.

Oh, I'm sowing on the mountain, and I'm reaping in the valley.
Oh, Im sowing on the mountain, and I'm reaping in the valley,
Oh, I'm sowing on the mountain, and I'm reaping in the valley, Lord,
Youre gonna reap,
(You're gonna reap)

Just what you sow.

Hey, I did. I remembered it.

G'day people, to start the day…

Friends
As recorded by Elton John

I hope the day will be a lighter highway
For friends are found on every road
Can you ever think of any better way
For the lost and weary travellers to go?

Making friends for the world to see
Let the people know you got what you need
With a friend at hand
You will see the light
If your friends are there then everything's all right.

It seems to me a crime that we should age
These fragile times should never slip us by
A time you never can or shall erase
As friends together watch their childhood fly

Making friends for the world to see
Let the people know you got what you need
With a friend at hand
You will see the light
If your friends are there then everything's all right.

Good morning, WA2K listeners and contributors.

Try, you and Elton are absolutely correct, buddy. Friends and a good cup of coffee are a wonderful way to greet the day.<smile

Let's salute the last day of May with a poem by Yeats:

William Butler Yeats - Towards Break Of Day

Was it the double of my dream
The woman that by me lay
Dreamed, or did we halve a dream
Under the first cold gleam of day?

I thought: "There is a waterfall
Upon Ben Bulben side
That all my childhood counted dear;
Were I to travel far and wide
I could not find a thing so dear.'
My memories had magnified
So many times childish delight.

I would have touched it like a child
But knew my finger could but have touched
Cold stone and water. I grew wild.
Even accusing Heaven because
It had set down among its laws:
Nothing that we love over-much
Is ponderable to our touch.

I dreamed towards break of day,
The cold blown spray in my nostril.
But she that beside me lay
Had watched in bitterer sleep
The marvellous stag of Arthur,
That lofty white stag, leap
From mountain steep to steep.

Well, there's our Raggedy, folks. What a marvelous collage of celebs, PA. I think we know most of them, but I, for one, am curious about Johnny PayCheck.

This was his first big hit:

"Take This Job And Shove It"

Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more

I will not get all the pieces
I've been working for
Paper cups, minimum wage
Just walk on out the door
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more
I will not get all the pieces
I've been working for
Paper cups, minimum wage
Just walk on out the door
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more

They'll have you in this factory
From now on for fifty years
All this time I see my woman
Drowning in her tears
I see a lot of people who
Got to have a piece of me
I'd give the shirt right off my back
If I had the nerve to say

Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more
I will not get all the pieces
I've been working for
Paper cups, minimum wage
Just walk on out the door
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more

Let's all go use our sick leave up
And then we'll shoot some pool
Got brand new skinhead hair cuts
You think he's a fool
One of these days I'll blow my top
Or somebody's gonna pay
I'd hate to see the process
As you enter the factory and say

Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more
I won't let that **** bother me
That I've been working for
Paper cups, minimum wage
Just walk on out the door
Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here no more

Take this job and shove it
I ain't working here, ain't working here, ain't working here no more

That is all very well, but…

Gimme Some Loving
As recorded by Traffic

Well my temperature's rising and my feet left the floor
Crazy people knockin' cause they're wanting some more
Let me in baby, I don't know what you've got
But you'd better take it easy, 'cause this place is so hot, and I'm

So glad we made it, so glad we made it, you got to
Gimme some a-lovin'
Gimme some a-lovin'
Gimme some a-lovin' every day, hey

Well I feel so good, everything is gettin' hot
You'd better take some time off 'cause the place is on fire
Better start baby 'cause I've so much to do
We made it baby and it happened to you, and I'm

So glad we made it, so glad we made it, you got to
Gimme some a-lovin'
Gimme some a-lovin'
Gimme some a-lovin' every day, yeah, hey

Well I feel so good, everything is gettin' hot
You'd better take some time off 'cause the place is on fire
It's been a hard day and nothing went too good
I'm gonna relax now, I think everybody should, and I'm

So glad we made it, so glad we made it, you got to
Gimme some a-lovin'
Gimme some a-lovin'
Gimme some a-lovin' every day

98.6
Keith
(written by G. Fischoff/T.Powers)

Good morning sun I say it's good to see you shine!
I know my baby brought you tooooo me.
She kissed me yesterday, I know the silver lining
That's been with summer running through me

Hey, ninety eight point six, it's good to have you back again. oh,
Hey, ninety eight point six, her lovin' is the medicine that
saaaved me,
Oh, I love my baby.

Hey, everybody on the street: I see you smilin',
Must be because I found my baaaaaby.
You know she's got me on some other kind of hiiighway,
I want to go to where it taaaaakes me!

Hey, ninety eight point six, it's good to have you back again. oh,
Hey, ninety eight point six her lovin' is the medicine that saaaved
me,
Oh, I love my baby.

You know she's got me on another kind of hiiighway.
I want to go to where it taaaaakes me.

Hey, ninety eight point six, it's good to have you back again. Oh,
Hey, ninety eight point six, her lovin' is the medicine that
saaaved me.
Oh, I love my baby...

As I recall, listeners, that chorus had some diatonic harmony. Unusual, but neat.

Keeping the temperature up,

Artist: Donna Summer
Song: Hot Stuff

Sittin' here, eatin' my heart out waitin'
waitin' for some lover to call
dialed about a thousand numbers lately
almost rang the phone off the wall

Lookin' for some hot stuff baby this evenin'
I need some hot stuff baby tonight
I want some hot stuff baby this evenin'
gotta have some hot stuff
gotta have some lovin' tonight
I need hot stuff
I want some hot stuff
I need hot stuff

Lookin' for a lover who needs another
don't want another night on my own
wanna share my love with a warm blooded lover
wanna bring a wild man back home

Gotta have some hot love baby this evenin'
I need some hot stuff baby tonight
I want some hot stuff baby this evenin'
gotta have some lovin'
got to have a love tonight
I need hot stuff
hot love
lookin' for hot love

Hot, hot, hot, hot stuff
hot, hot, hot
hot, hot, hot, hot stuff
hot, hot, hot

Gotta have some hot love baby this evenin'
I need some hot stuff baby tonight
lookin' for some hot stuff baby this evenin'
I need hot stuff baby tonight
hot stuff baby this evening
I want hot stuff baby tonight
hot stuff baby this evenin'
I want some hot stuff baby tonight

Great, King Arthur, so, listeners, we'll keep "celsius and farenheight" on our radio:

We're having a heat wave,
A tropical heat wave,
The temperature's rising,
It isn't surprising,
She certainly can can-can.

She started a heat wave
By letting her seat wave
In such a way that
The customers say that
She certainly can can-can.

Gee, her anatomy
Makes the mercury
Jump to ninety-three.

We're having a heat wave,
A tropical heat wave,
The way that she moves
That thermometer proves
That she certainly can can-can.

Mr. Turtle. Welcome back. We have missed you and hope that you and your lady had a wonderful respite.

Wow! That song is great, m.d. Is that reggae or calypso?

Here's one, folks, that I have never heard, but my friend, Bill, called it "Hot to Trout" in our fishing days at the outer banks.

Artist: 10cc
Song: Hot to trot
Album: Deceptive Bends

She had a shake like a belly dancer
and a body like a tiger tiger (uh huh, uh huh)
She was looking at meÂÂ

Now you know that I ain't no dancer
But there's gotta be a way to meet her
So I just walked up to her and said
Are you hot to trot?ÂÂ

Well I knew I was looking cool
Pretty sharp like a razor razor (uh huh, uh huh)
She was smiling at meÂÂ

So I said if you got the notion
We could take a little trip to the ocean
She said that'll be OK
'Cause I'm hot to trotÂÂ

We were having a ball by the water
Talking about life and philosophizing (uh huh, uh huh)
She was really talking to meÂÂ

She said I can't understand why you gotta hustle
Struttin' and posin' and flexin' muscle
So I said, well that's easy baby
I'm hot to trot.

Sorry for those funny little "A's" with tildes. <smile>

we had a hectic but terrific time, and even managed to stay out of any major traffic jams. hot hot hot is calypso, or more precisely soca, which is the modern, electric variant of calpyso, evidently coined from SOul CAlypso. soca is the main form of pop music in the english-speaking west indies outside of jamaica. Cool

it was almost literally a whirlwind at the top of the inner basin trail near flagstaff, AZ, at just under 10,000 feet elevation, with enough windchill to numb my cheeks. a couple of days before, we left el centro, CA, with thermometer in the high 90's. Cool

quite a bit like that, except i don't recall seeing any plants that look like the ones in the foreground, and the mountains in the background had a little snow on them. but i didn't take long to enjoy the view, since i hadn't brought a skip cap.

Well, Yit. A skip cap is new to me, but here is a brief part of Arizona for you and your lady:

Arizona
Written by Margaret Rowe Clifford
Composed by Maurice Blumenthal

Come to this land of sunshine
To this land where life is young.
Where the wide, wide world is waiting,
The songs that will now be sung.
Where the golden sun is flaming
Into warm, white shining day,
And the sons of men are blazing
Their priceless right of way.

Great, Yit. I asked for that, I guess. Which reminds me, folks:

This is a perfect song by the sausage man:

Skip A Rope Lyrics
Artist: Jimmy Dean
Album: A Thing Called Love

Skip a rope skip a rope listen to the children while they play
Ain't it kinda funny what kids all say skip a rope

Daddy hates mama mama hates dad
Last night you should've heard the fight they had
Gave little sister another bad dream she woke us all up with a terrible scream
Skip a rope skip a rope...

Cheat on your taxes don't be a fool what was that they said about the golden rule
Never mind the rules just play to win and hate your neighbor for the shade of his skin
Skip a rope skip a rope...

Stub 'em in the back that's the name of the game
And mama and daddy are the ones to blame
Skip a rope skip a rope listen to the children while they play
It's not really funny what children say skip a rope
Skip a rope skip a rope
