Nice one Bob!

Here's one for Letty, who has been doing some good stuff on the "Where am I?" thread.....

GERRY RAFFERTY lyrics - "Baker Street"

Winding your way down on Baker Street
Light in your head, and dead on your feet
Well another crazy day
You drink the night away
And forget about everything
This city desert makes you feel so cold,
Its got so many people but its got no soul
And it's taken you so long to find out you were wrong
When you thought it held everything

You used to think that it was so easy
You used to say that it was so easy
But you're tryin', you're tryin' now
Another year and then you'd be happy
Just one more year and then you'd be happy
But you're cryin', you're cryin' now

Way down the street there's a light in his place
He opens the door
He's got that look on his face
And he asks you where you've been
You tell him who you've seen
And you talk about anything
He's got this dream about buyin' some land
He's gonna give up the booze and the one night stands
And then he'll settle down
It's a quiet little town
And forget about everything
But you know he'll always keep movin'
You know he's never gonna stop movin'
'Cause he's rollin'
He's the rolling stone
And when you wake up it's a new mornin'
The sun is shining it's a new mornin'
And you're going, you're going home

On popular demand ( ), by Neil Young:

Albuquerque

Well, they say
that Santa Fe
Is less than ninety miles away,
And I got time to roll a number
and rent a car.
Oh, Albuquerque.

I've been flyin'
down the road,
And I've been starvin' to be alone,
And independent from the scene
that I've known.
Albuquerque.

So I'll stop when I can,
Find some fried eggs
and country ham.
I'll find somewhere where
they don't care who I am.
Oh, Albuquerque,
Albuquerque.

Photographs
SUGAR RAY Lyrics

Where are you goin'?
I never heard you say goodbye
I know it's showin
You tried you're hardest not to cry

I took a photograph of you
The innocence of just we 2

With his arm around you all your life
I think about you everyday
I wonder what he said
How he got inside your head

As I watch you walk away-way-way
And now your goin'
No time to stop & say I tried
Too easy knowin'
How hard your leavin' feels inside

I saw the photograph of you
The innocence of just we 2

With his arm around you all your life
I think about you everyday
I wonder what he said
How he got inside your head

As I watch you walk away-way-way
There's no more time hangin' 'round
Talkin' to you I know it's lost can't be found
What can I do? (What can I do?)

I took a photograph of you
The innocence of just we 2
With his arm around you all your life
(I think about you everyday)
(way-way-way)

Well, what wonderful contributions from all, listeners.

Hawkman, you have cleared up the mystery of the google feature. Thanks for that, Boston.

Something told me that our Raggedy would be delighted with Sir Laurence. Wonder why?

Is it possible that we have three different factions of Europe represented here today?

Thank you, L.E. for that lovely song.
Good to see you back, Francis, and I had no idea that a Frenchman beat Kenny Rogers to that one. Wonderful French lyrics.
Walter, Why in the world would you play that one, I wonder. Big smile for you.

And, of course, our Try again. Let's see now. What was the name of that group?

I hope that I have not neglected to acknowledge everyone here. I am feeling a little down today because of all the work that is facing me. That happens, but physically, I am fine.

Back later to review all more thoroughly, folks.

Oops, folks. Correction. Try played Sugar Rae. Well, buddy, why would I think it was the boys on the beach.

For you all:

Sri Chinmoy on Friendship

~

"Friendship openly persuades our minds
To do the right thing
And secretly convinces our hearts
To become the right person."

~

What is human friendship?
It is something that needs
Constant repair and constant care.

~

My heart and my mind
Have renewed their friendship.
My heart of love
Shall show my mind the way.
My mind of peace
Shall guard my heart
Along the way.

Thank you his Lordship. Letty, my love, always too happy to cater to your every whim. Raggedy you are wonderful to seek out these illuminating images.

A special hello to my pal Francis. Too few people over here realize Aznavour was responsible for this marvelous song. It was made famous over here by Roy Clark's moving rendition. I sing karaoke and have yet to find it in any collection for the karaoke crowd. A sad omission for the listener and the singer. Wish you all the best, my friend.

Here's a special one, Miss Letty. I dedicate it to Walter, with much love and a huge thanks for sharing all his wonderful photos with us.

KODACHROME
Paul Simon

When I think back
On all the crap I learned in high school
It's a wonder
I can think at all
And though my lack of edu---cation
Hasn't hurt me none
I can read the writing on the wall

Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, Oh yeah
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So mama don't take my Kodachrome away

If you took all the girls I knew
When I was single
And brought them all together for one night
I know they'd never match
my sweet imagination
everything looks worse in black and white

Kodachrome
They give us those nice bright colors
They give us the greens of summers
Makes you think all the world's a sunny day, Oh yeah
I got a Nikon camera
I love to take a photograph
So mama don't take my Kodachrome away

Mama don't take my Kodachrome away
Mama don't take my Kodachrome away
Mama don't take my Kodachrome away

Mama don't take my Kodachrome
Mama don't take my Kodachrome
Mama don't take my Kodachrome away

Mama don't take my Kodachrome
Leave your boy so far from home
Mama don't take my Kodachrome away
Mama don't take my Kodachrome

Mama don't take my Kodachrome away

Another oops, listeners. Better make that Roy Clark instead of Kenny Rogers. Just call me Rose today. <smile>

Well, Walter. You just got a picture song from Eva. I think, perhaps, everyone wants the shutter bug to continue.

One down and sixteen more to go, listeners. Wish I had a private secretary.

Here's one from an actor that I have really grown to appreciate:

Hugh Laurie:

If I had a talking picture of you,
I would run it every time I felt blue,
I would sit there in the gloom,
Of my lonely little room,
And applaud each time you whispered:
'I love you, love you!'

On the screen the moment you came in view,
We would talk the whole thing over, we two,
I would give ten shows a day,
And a midnight matinee,
If I had a talking picture of you

Our love's gonna be written down in history
A-Just like Romeo and Juliet

In honor of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's birthday;

Thompson Twins
We Are Detective

Somebody's watching me
and now i'm nervous and i shouldn't be
Somebody's got their eye on me
perhaps i should invite him up for tea?

We saw him smoking by the newspaper stand
there's something odd about his gloved left hand
Saw him again inside the old cafe
he makes us tense we wish he'd go away

We are detective
we are select
We are detective
come to collect

Somebody's after me
he left his footprints by the garden tree
Last night when i got home
i got the feeling i was not alone!

Someone is on our tail
we think they're opening up our morning mail
And now each time the telephone rings
we think of frightening things

We are detective
we are select
We are detective
come to collect

We dress up in disguise
to get away from all those prying eyes
Our friends all think we're mad
but we know better cos the spy is bad

We are detective
we are select
We are detective
come to collect

We are detective
we are select
We are detective
come to collect

Well, there's our Tin Swordsman with a tribute to another Sir. Great, buddy, and here's an answer:

THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS lyrics - "(She Was A) Hotel Detective"

She's got her ear to the walls and she's tappin' the calls
If you've got a secret boy, forget about it, 'cause she's a

Hotel Detective
my little
Hotel Detective
yeah she's a
Hotel Detective
Why don't you check her out

Well the bellhop is funky
The dumbwaiter's a monkey
If there's a knock at the door, boy, forget about it, 'cause she's a

Hotel Detective
my little
Hotel Detective
yeah
Hotel Detective
Cone on and check her out

She says she likes my face
She says she owns the place
Forget about it, 'cause she's a

Hotel Detective
my little
Hotel Detective
come on her
Hotel Detective
Why don't you check her out

Hotel Detective
Come on and swing with me
Hotel Detective
From the top of a tree
Hotel Detective
And make me feel like a bee
Hotel Detective
That's where I want to know you

Funny, I've just been finding some more CD's to upload onto the iPod, and discovered a Deep Purple CD that I had forgot all about. 'Twas in the glove compartment of my car, along with three other classic albums.

Anyhoo....It's now uploaded, and I have been playing it at reasonably loud volume. I hadn't heard this particular track for donkeys years, and somehow, it fitted in with what we all get up to in cyberspace nowadays.

Some of the lines may not be relevant to all of us, but most of it will ring true, here on A2K.
Here we are, thousands of miles apart, none of us really knows one another, but we all interact and in a way, are good friends.

Very strange.....or as Deep Purple fans would say, heavy man!

See what you think. (Oh, and if anyone doesn't know this track, I would recommend seeking it out, and playing at full volume....cool track indeed.

PERFECT STRANGERS. (Deep Purple....1984)

Can you remember...... remember my name
As I flow through your life
A thousand oceans I have flown
And cold spirits of ice
All my life
I am the echo of your past

I am returning the echo of a point in time
Distant faces shine
A thousand warriors I have known
And laughing as the spirits appear
All your life
Shadows of another day

And if you hear me talking on the wind
Youve got to understand
We must remain
Perfect strangers

I know I must remain inside this silent well of sorrow
A strand of silver hanging through the sky
Touching more than you see
The voice of ages in your mind
Is aching with the dead of the night
Precious life (your tears are lost in
Falling rain)

And if you hear me talking on the wind
Youve got to understand
We must remain
Perfect strangers.................

A Flock Of Seagulls

Wishing (If I had a photograph of you) Lyrics

It's not the way you look,
It's not the way that you smile.
Although there's something to them.
It's not the way you have your hair,
It's not that certain style;
It could be that with you.
If I had a photograph of you,
It's something to remind me.
I wouldn't spend my life just wishing.

It's not the make-up
And it's not the way that you dance,
It's not the evening sky.
It's more the way your eyes
are laughing as they glance
Across the great divide.

If I had a photograph of you,
It's something to remind me.
I wouldn't spend my life just wishing.

It's not the things you say
It's not the things you do
It must be something more
And if I feel this way for so long
Tell me is it all for nothing
Just don't walk out the door.

If I had a photograph of you,
It's something to remind me.
I wouldn't spend my life just wishing.

Well, listeners. It's wonderful to see our Try, Walter, and L.E. back with us.

I'm afraid that I don't know your songs, guys, but the lyrics are lovely to read.

I do remember the first adult sheet music that I learned to read. I had struggled with From the Wigwam; Spinningwheel; Go tell Aunt Rhody, and then I tried this song:

When the deep purple falls,
Over sleepy garden walls,

And the stars begin to flicker in the sky,
Through the mist of a memory,

You wander back to me,
Breathing my name with a sigh.
In the still of the night,

Once again i hold you tight,
Though you're gone, your love lives on

When moonlight beams.
And as long as my heart will beat,
Lover, we'll always meet,
Here in my deep purple dreams.

Apologies for the damage to the hamburgers stand, but it wasÂ…

Fun, Fun, Fun
Beach Boys Lyrics

Well Katie got her daddy's car
And she cruised through the hamburger stand now
Seems she forgot all about the library
Like she told her old man now
And with the radio blasting
Goes cruising just as fast as she can now

And she'll have fun fun fun
'Til her daddy takes the T-Bird away
(Fun fun fun 'til her daddy takes the T-Bird away)

Well the girls can't stand her
'Cause she walks looks and drives like an ace now
(You walk like an ace now you walk like an ace)
She makes the Indy 500 look like a Roman chariot race now
(You look like an ace now you look like an ace)
A lotta guys try to catch her
But she leads them on a wild goose chase now
(You drive like an ace now you drive like an ace)

And she'll have fun fun fun
'Til her daddy takes the T-Bird away
(Fun fun fun 'til her daddy takes the T-Bird away)

Well you knew all along
That your dad was gettin' wise to you now
(You shouldn't have lied now you shouldn't have lied)
And since he took your set of keys
You've been thinking that your fun is all through now
(You shouldn't have lied now you shouldn't have lied)

But you can come along with me
'Cause we gotta a lot of things to do now
(You shouldn't have lied now you shouldn't have lied)

And we'll have fun fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away
(Fun fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away)
And we'll have fun fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away
(Fun fun fun now that daddy took the T-Bird away)
