"Know what that's from, buddy?"

This is only a guess mind you:

"I pray thee, put into yonder port, For I fear a hurricane. Last night, the moon had a golden ring, And tonight no moon we see!"

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: The Wreck of the Hesperus

Beach Boys Lyrics

Sloop John B Lyrics

We come on the sloop John B
My grandfather and me
Around Nassau town we did roam
Drinking all night
Got into a fight
Well I feel so broke up
I want to go home

So hoist up the John B's sail
See how the mainsail sets
Call for the Captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I wanna go home, yeah yeah
Well I feel so broke up
I wanna go home

The first mate he got drunk
And broke in the Cap'n's trunk
The constable had to come and take him away
Sheriff John Stone
Why don't you leave me alone, yeah yeah
Well I feel so broke up I wanna go home

So hoist up the John B's sail
See how the mainsail sets
Call for the Captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I wanna go home, let me go home
Why don't you let me go home
(Hoist up the John B's sail)
Hoist up the John B
I feel so broke up I wanna go home
Let me go home

The poor cook he caught the fits
And threw away all my grits
And then he took and he ate up all of my corn
Let me go home
Why don't they let me go home
This is the worst trip I've ever been on

So hoist up the John B's sail
See how the mainsail sets
Call for the Captain ashore
Let me go home, let me go home
I wanna go home, let me go home
Why don't you let me go home

Well, my goodness, listeners. I see that our Try does more than play the Beach Boys. You are right, of course.

Thanks for another new one, buddy.

Shall we continue with the ocean?

Middle Earth
» The Ocean (a Siren Song...)

Out here on the ocean water drifting out to sea.
I tried to stay in shallow but she pulled me out too deep.
The warmth of the water and the chill of the air
have clouded everything except the full moon in the sky.
And now I find myself fighting the ocean just to keep my head up.
Every emotion, every desire suddenly mean everything.
The turn of the tides are unpredictable.
Inviting as they seem, they are threatening like gods.

Ah, there's our hamburger with a cooling picture of Lake Ontario. Thanks, buddy.

Well, here's one for you:

Lyrics
by Rolling Stones

Walking the Dog

Baby, back
Dressed in black
Silver buttons all down her back
High hose, tippy toes
She broke the needle and she can sew

Walking the dog
I'm just a walking the dog
If you don't know how to do it
I'll show you how to walk the dog
C'mon now c'mon

I asked her mother for fifteen cents
I see you ever jumped the fence
I jumped so high, touched the skies
Didn't get back 'til a quarter to five

Walking the dog
I'm just a walking the dog
If you don't know how to do it
I'll show you how to walk the dog
C'mon c'mon now

Tell me mary, what's your twelve
How does your garden grow
What with silver bells and cockle shells
And pretty maids all in a row

Walking the dog
I'm just a walking the dog
If you don't know how to do it
I'll show you how to walk the dog
C'mon now c'mon

Baby, back
Dressed in black
Silver buttons all down her back
High hose, tippy toes
She broke the needle and she can sew

Walking the dog
I'm just a walking the dog
If you don't know how to do it
I'll show you how to walk the dog
C'mon now c'mon

Yeah just a walking
Uh just a walking
Uh just a walking
Now, if you don't know how to do it
I'll show you how to walk the dog
C'mon now c'mon
If you don't know how to do it
I'll show you how to walk the dog
C'mon now
If you don't know how to do it
I'll show you how to walk the dog

Victoria Day, hamburger? Amazing as I have a book in my possession that could be considered a rare one.

The title is:

Live of the Queens of England by Agnes Strickland and dedicated by gracious permission to Her Majesty the Queen. That must be Queen Victoria.

News from the war zone:

Firefights Kill 1 French, 16 Afghan Troops 1 hour, 49 minutes ago

KABUL, Afghanistan - One French and 16 Afghan soldiers were killed and about 40 other troops were wounded in two firefights in southern Afghanistan, coalition and Afghan officials said Sunday.

In one battle in Helmand province, 13 Afghan soldiers were killed and 15 injured in an eight-hour firefight Saturday, said Gen. Zahir Azimi, the Defense Ministry spokesman. He said at least nine Taliban militants were killed in the battle in Sangin district.

In a second firefight in the same district of Helmand on Saturday, one French and three Afghan soldiers were killed, the U.S.-led coalition said.

Among those injured were a French and an American soldier, said Capt. Drew Gibson, a spokesman for the British military. Twenty-five Afghan soldiers were also injured, Sgt. Chris Miller, a coalition spokesman, said.

There were no immediate reports of militant casualties, Miller said.

In total, three French soldiers were killed on Saturday. The French Defense Ministry earlier announced the deaths of two special forces troops killed in neighboring Kandahar province. France has had 200 special forces officers in southeast Afghanistan since 2003 as part of the U.S.-led coalition.

The Afghan and coalition soldiers attacked in the Sangin district of Helmand were part of Task Force Phoenix, which is helping to train Afghan army soldiers, Miller said.

Taliban-linked militants have stepped up attacks against coalition forces in recent months, particularly in Afghanistan's southern and eastern regions that border Pakistan.

Which reminds me. Wonder where our Francis is?

Beach Boys Lyrics

I Get Around Lyrics

Round round get around
I get around
Yeah
Get around round round I get around
I get around
Get around round round I get around
From town to town
Get around round round I get around
I'm a real cool head
Get around round round I get around
I'm makin' real good bread

I'm gettin' bugged driving up and down the same old strip
I gotta finda new place where the kids are hip

My buddies and me are getting real well known
Yeah, the bad guys know us and they leave us alone

I get around
Get around round round I get around
From town to town
Get around round round I get around
I'm a real cool head
Get around round round I get around
I'm makin' real good bread
Get around round round I get around
I get around
Round
Get around round round oooo
Wah wa ooo
Wah wa ooo
Wah wa ooo

We always take my car cause it's never been beat
And we've never missed yet with the girls we meet

None of the guys go steady cause it wouldn't be right
To leave their best girl home now on Saturday night

I get around
Get around round round I get around
From town to town
Get around round round I get around
I'm a real cool head
Get around round round I get around
I'm makin' real good bread
Get around round round I get around
I get around
Round
Ah ah ah ah ah ah ah ah

Round round get around
I get around
Yeah
Get around round round I get around
Get around round round I get around
Wah wa ooo

Which Highlander theme does our P.D. have in mind:

Who Wants to Live Forever; Princes of the Universe; One Year of Love, or It's a Kind of Magic (My favorite, played during the closing credits.) ? Smile

letty, bit late with the follow-up, as usual, but here's a lengthier ukulele song: Laughing

Shades of night are creeping, willow trees are weeping, old folks and babies are sleeping, silver Stars are gleaming, all alone I'm scheming, scheming to get you out here, my dear, come tip toe thru the window, by the window, that is where I'll be, come tip toe thru The tulips with me.
Tip toe from your pillow, to the shadow of a willow tree, and tip toe thru The tulips with me.

Knee deep in flowers we'll stray, we'll keep the showers away, and if I kiss you in the garden, in the moonlight, will you pardon me, come tip toe thru the tulips with me.

Come on out and pet me, come and Juliet me, tease me and slyly coquette me, let me romeo you, I Just want to show you, how much I'm willing to do for you, come tip toe to the window, by the window, that is where I'll be, come tip toe thru the tulips with me. Tip toe from your pillow, to the shadow of the willow tree, and tip toe thru the tulips with me.

Well, Try. That was very funny, buddy, but you left out the bit about the wing and the bird. Speaking of which, he may well be in the air somewhere. Razz

Well finally, listeners, a song by them sons of beaches that I know. Thanks, again as Letty don't get around much anymore.

Hey, Mr. Turtle. Great to see you back. Oh, my Gawd, M.D. Teensy Tim. What ever happened to that strange fellow with the even stranger voice?

About our hawkman. He is alive and well and having fun in Boston with some Brazilian lady.

There's our Raggedy. Hey, PA. I just know the words by Queen went something like. "...here we are..." Ain't my memory wonderful?

My goodness, there's Raymond Burr. He was a fine actor, I think, especially in Perry Mason and Iron Sides. I met Don Galloway. Wonder if he's still around?

Well, I'll have to go to the archives to find out about Della Street's son, cause I saw him in a Dr.House episode.

Wondering if this is the Queen song you're thinking of, Letty?

PRINCES OF THE UNIVERSE.

Here we are, born to be kings
We're the princes of the universe
Here we belong, fighting to survive
In a world with the darkest powers

Hey...
And here we are
We're the princes of the universe
Here we belong, fighting for survival
We've come to be the rulers of your world

Oh!
I am immortal
I have inside me blood of kings (Yeah, yeah!)
I have no rival
No man can be my equal
Take me to the future of new earth

Born to be kings, princes of the universe
Fighting and free, got your world in my hand
I'm here for your love and I'll make my stand
We were born to be princes of the universe
No man could understand
My power is in my own hand

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
People talk about you
People say you've had your day
I'm a man that will go far
Fly the moon and reach for the stars
With my sword and head held high
Got to pass the test first time, yeah
I know that people talk about me
I hear it every day
But I can prove you wrong 'cause I'm right first time
Yeah yeah

Alright, let's go, let's go
Haha!
Yeh...watch this man fly
Bring on the girls
Bababa!

Here we are (here we are)
Born to be kings, we're princes of the universe
Here will we belong

Born to be kings, princes of the universe
Fighting and free, got your world in my hand
I'm here for your love and I'll make my stand
We were born to be princes of the universe

I Can Hear Music
Beach Boys Lyrics

Oo... Ah...

This is the way
I always dreamed it would be
The way that it is, oh
When you are holding me
I never had a love of my own
Maybe that's why when we're all a lone

I can hear music
I can hear music
The sound of the city baby
Seems to disappear, oh when
I can hear music
Sweet sweet music
Whenever you touch me baby
Whenever you're near

Loving you
It keeps me satisfied
And I can't explain, oh no
The way I'm feeling inside
You look at me we kiss and the
I close my eyes and here it comes again

I can hear music
I can hear music
The sound of the city baby
Seems to disappear, oh when
I can hear music
Sweet sweet music
Whenever you touch me baby
Whenever you're near

I hear the music all the time, yeah
I hear the music hold me tight now baby
I hear the music all the time
I hear the music
I hear the music (baby)

Ahh...

I can hear music
I can hear music
The sound of the city baby
Seems to disappear, oh when
I can hear music
Sweet sweet music
Whenever you touch me baby
Whenever you're near

Try, you love them Beach Boys, right? Keep on aplayin', honey.

Here's some odd news, listeners:

Former 'Naked Guy' at UC-Berkeley Dies Sat May 20, 2:43 PM ET

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The former college student known as the "Naked Guy," who gained notoriety in the early 1990s for attending class in the buff, has died in jail, authorities said.

Andrew Martinez, 33, whose stripped-down strolls at the University of California, Berkeley, got him expelled and prompted the city to adopt a strict anti-nudity ordinance, was found unconscious Thursday in a Santa Clara County jail, said jail spokesman Mark Cursi.

Officials are investigating the death as an apparent suicide.

He had been in custody since Jan. 10 on charges of battery and assault with a deadly weapon, authorities said.

In 1992, Martinez organized a "Nude-In" protest at the university. He said he was trying to make a point about free expression.

The message caught on, and nude spottings spiked on campus. Martinez, who landed on national talk shows, was expelled the next year after the university banned nudity.

Wow!

Guess we ought to play some Bare Naked Ladies. Not making light of the situation, because it is sad.

Oh, my gorsh, Raggedy. That is the one. It fits the melody that I have in my mind much better than Imur's. Yikes, listeners, there is a problem when one cannot actually hear the music. That song that our Raggedy just played is all in a minor key, I think.

Sorry, Irish. I was certain the the lyrics you posted were correct.

Medical news:

Memories of 1918 flu pandemic haunt 21st century By Toni Reinhold
Sun May 21, 10:33 AM ET

NEW YORK (Reuters) - As health agencies worldwide scramble to stop bird flu from becoming a pandemic that could claim millions of lives, memories of the murderous flu that swept the globe almost 100 years ago haunt the 21st century, passed on from generation to generation, or, in my case, from grandmother to granddaughter.

My grandmother lived through the Great War, the Roaring Twenties, the Great Depression, World War Two, the cultural revolution of the '60s and three decades beyond.

There was little that could threaten her nerve but until the day she died, Marie Starace was afraid of two things. One was lightning. The other was "The Grip" -- the deadly flu that wreaked havoc on the Brooklyn, New York, neighborhood where she was born and raised.

So vivid were her memories of the influenza pandemic of 1918-19 that whenever she saw us with open coats and throats exposed to the cold, she would gravely warn: "Button up or you'll get the grip." When I was a teenager -- about 50 years after the horrible episode -- I had the sense to ask what this dreaded "grip" was.

"It was a terrible thing. So many people died from the grip when I was a little girl that it seemed like every family lost someone," my grandmother told me.

"It was heartbreaking to see mothers crying for their children. Some of them lost two and three children. I'll never forget one woman crying in my mother's arms because she lost her children and her husband."

"People didn't want to say when someone in their house was sick because the place would be quarantined and no one could get out to work," Granna recalled.

"Some people went out in the middle of the night to get the undertaker because they didn't want it to get around that someone in their house had died from the flu. They were afraid of being reported to the Health Department and quarantined."

'SPANISH FLU'

The flu that killed an estimated 20 million to 100 million people worldwide was known in the United States as the Spanish flu.

Ok, folks. I was just informed that if I played a song by the Stones for Lord Ellpus, he would pose nude in front of our cameras.

Sooooo, this is for Calamity Jane and our Lord:

Lady Jane

By Jagger/Richards

My sweeet lady Jane

When I see you again

Your servant am I

And will humbly remain

Just heed this plea, my love

On bended knee my love

I pledge myself to lady Jane

My dear lady Anne

I've done what I can

I must take my leave

For promised am I

The play is run, my love

Your time has come, my love

I pledge my trough to lady Jane

Oh, my sweet Marie

I wait at your cue

The sands have run out

For your lady and me

When love is high, my love

Wedlock is nigh, my love

Her station's right, my love

Life is secure with lady Jane

Well, here he is folks. WOW!

Memories

Frankie Lane, he was singing Jezebel
I pinned an Iron Cross to my lapel
I walked up to the tallest and the blondest girl
I said, Look, you don't know me now but very soon you will
So won't you let me see
I said "won't you let me see"
I said "won't you let me see
Your naked body?"
Just dance me to the dark side of the gym
Chances are I'll let you do most anything
I know you're hungry, I can hear it in your voice
And there are many parts of me to touch, you have your choice
Ah but no you cannot see
She said "no you cannot see"
She said "no you cannot see
My naked body"

So We're dancing close, the band is playing Stardust
Balloons and paper streamers floating down on us
She says, You've got a minute left to fall in love
In solemn moments such as this I have put my trust
And all my faith to see
I said all my faith to see
I said all my faith to see
Her naked body
