Help. I'm a blond (literally) and think I messed up my hair idea

Hi I need help/advice. I was planning on doing my dirty blond hair a red and blond combo using a highlight cap. I finally decided to do burgandy with blond highlights and went and bought the dye and highlight cap. My friend said she had used to the cap many times and could do mine no problem this weekend but she flaked and so I got impatient and decided I could do it myself. Problem is I'm a blond and so I dyed my whole head burgandy and didn't realize my mess up tell I was getting in the shower to wash it out. Now I'm wondering what it would look like if I went ahead and just did the blond highlights anyway. Obviously it wouldn't be blond now. But it would lighten the color enough to be noticeable right?
I'm honestly open to any suggestions. I was thinking maybe doing black highlights now but figured I'd come here and see what kinda advise I could get first.
