It's not so much whether one is right or wrong or lesser, an attempt to defend yourself that matters. It's the unmistakable providential facts staring you in the face that makes the difference. When you are confronted with the proof of your right or wrong and you have nowhere to turn, what then do you do?
No excuse you can dream up, no matter how long it takes; no one else to blame, whether a desperate attempt to focus elsewhere or substantiate your position; and the answer of your position is demanded, how then it is possible to lie to yourself? As a last resort, I guess you can lie to yourself, but who in their right mind would sacrifice their own soul for the sake of a lie called - "Pride"?
No. Not particularly inclined.
Try - a mirrorized focus.

pride is a hard feeling to "tack"
youve done a very good job
Thank you for your kind comment.
It was learned from two observations -
That of my own selfishness
- and -
"greatly" humbling myself to learn.

Your words brought to mind a song where one line says "Of all the things that finally desert us, pride is always the last one to go."
To thine own self be true, my friend.
