Husker was waiting for a call from his doctor. I left a message for squinney and her husband on their hospital thread. (a few days ago, husker mentioned he had talked to squinney and bpb on the phone.)

I got an e-mail from Husker this afternoon saying he was on his way to the hospital, and giving me the telephone number there as well as his e-mail address for anyone who wants them. Just "pm" me.

Sorry I haven't been able to get online before now.

I called the number that husker emailed us, but I think that was his home number and I got the machine.

I just tracked Husker down and spoke with him for awhile. He's in the hospital ("pm" me for number).

His fever is running about 101 or 102 degrees right now, down from 103 last night. He's on massive antibiotics again, and the inflammation in his leg has gone down about an inch so far. He said the emergency room was a zoo yesterday and it took them four hours to get him admitted and hooked up to antibiotics...way too long! (Very Dangerous.) So his doctor has set him up for "Direct Admit" if he has to go back again. Whew!

He thinks he will be there for at least a couple more days. He's very frustrated with this whole thing and very tired from fighting the fever. I told him I'll call again in a day or so to make sure everything's on track. And, of course, I told him that we're all thinking about him and anxious for him to get well.

terrible that it took 4 hours for the hospital to admit him. i had a similar emergency room experience. good that husker will be allowed direct admission in the future.

I just spoke with him by phone. Apparently he is fighting off the fever (sucessfully) and they are waiting for the results of some lab work in order to figure out why the leg infected in the first place. It is swollen but going down. He sounded frustrated, which I can certainly empathize with, but said he expects to go home in a couple of days.

YEh, we need everybody here healthy and full of piss and vinegar (I have no idea what that means but Gabby Hayes could say it and it sounded reasonable)

Cmon husker get goin. I hope the docs are monitoring your vascular health elsewhere. Did you pick up any parasitic ailments when you were down in Central America about 2 years ago??
Have they done any titers for specific antibodies. This up and down infection sounds like something thats more systemic.
