The computers that are thrown away in Western Europe could end up in China being scaverenged or whatever in a certain locality in China.

WHAT A WASTE!

Why is it a waste if they end up being re-used? Could you cite a source for this?

It appeared on a TV news programme.

Its a waste in as much as people in Europe can use/need the computers.

Perhaps Badboy is referring to these (go to >China: Hi-tech toxics, but since the other topics are interesting as well ...) BBC In Depth pages.

In Germany, computers are collected by the towns/communities, looked after and/or recycled, and than provided to charities, schools, kindergardens .... or send to places like China.
