has anyone out there any idea how i can get my tv to play dvds from my computer. I have a picture but it is in black and white and has no sound. i am using windows xp. HELP!!

Does your PC have a S-video out connector, as well as RCA stereo outs? S-video doesn't pass a sound signal, and even the best TV's still use RCA jacks for sound input. They all have to be connected to the same TV input, such as Video 2.

I can't explain the B&W picture though, unless your video card isn't putting out color for some reason.

Thanks for your help will have to go out and buy a new cable. any suggestions bearing in mind i am in the uk

I had this exact problem. What you do is go to control panel, click on display, go to settings tab, click advanced, go to overlays tab, and click on theater mode. This should fix the problem. the cool thing about this mode is that no matter what is on your screen, it will show a movie if it is playing.
