The Cleanliness of The Emperor’s New Clothes

Many are those who wish that they could escape the traumas of living on earth, even within their own families. The old commercial for "Calgon"ä bath treatment exclaiming, "Calgon! Take me away!" is a trite example, I admit, but it represents how people generally feel about being daily surrounded by traumas.

NASA and its outer space program designed by, with, and supposedly for humans is another example.

Giving up on cleaning the individual from the inside out, these types display themselves outwardly with the magnificent obsession of attempting an escape into outer space whereby, perhaps, they hope to make a "NEW" beginning and future for themselves.

Thus enters the new generation of "Emperors."

Interesting.

Since these "Emperors" are not clean inwardly, but appear to be outwardly, if they do accomplish space travel, self-righteously, these humans have convinced themselves by "appearing" they are clean enough to escape worldly traumas the rest would be stuck with.

Advance into the future with today's humans floating around out there.

Is there really any advantage in washing one's self with clean mud?

Who is trying to convince whom of what?

I had no idea people thought this way about the space program.

I consider space exploration the #1 priority of humanity...

When I was little my hand hurt and my dad suggested cutting off my arm so my hand wouldn't hurt anymore. He then thought about it and said, it didn't even really matter which arm I cut off, either way I wouldn't notice the pain anymore.

"Space exploration the #1 priority of humanity...."???

Hmmmm...

Is there any such chance for the priority of humanity FOR humanity...???

If and when that occurs, maybe then we can all join together for higher aspirations AS ONE...and not one (crew?) REPRESENTING the rest.

I used to agree, Stuh, but Truemale instantly changed my opinion with his initial post. I will now dedicate my life to the destruction of NASA.

Who wants to go rocket tipping tonight?

Yer funny, SCoates..."rocket tipping..."
clever comeback...

I know you are joking about the destuction of NASA, but (ironically speaking) why waste time destroying something when you could opposingly, enhance what time you have by building something of more value?

I don't view the desire for space to be a malignant growth. If it is cancerous it is benign.

The desire for space is not a malignant growth...I agree. It is natural for humankind to look up, as they should.

I feel it is more important to look around and consider from whence one is jumping up FROM, so those who possibly DO make it into a habital space, are aware they are not taking old luggage with them .... It is that baggage that needs tended to, otherwise it may get very heavy after a while, bringing them back down to where they came from.

Carousels are not necessarily horizontal....

Heh, heh... there was a talk I heard once, by a religious leader saying he always hears people saying they would like more scriptures. They would like to have MORE of God's word. But most of them aren't even reading the scripture they have.

Similarly, there was a man who lived by the Grand Canyon, and someone came by and asked for directions. He gave directions and was then asked to describe what the canyon was like. He replied, "I don't know, I've never been there," and then asked where the other man was from.
"New York," he replied.
"Really, I'd like to visit New York, how do you like the Statue of Liberty."
"Don't know, I haven't been there."

SCoates, I had a similar experience with my father...except it was a little different since he thought I had cut my arm off but really I was just faking it.

truemale, you want humanity to come together for humanity. Well, humanity already exists...so we can take a lunch break on that.

Who says we can't all come together towards space exploration? Trust me, when we encounter the Covenant of malicious aliens, the humans will forget who's red and black.

Seriously though...space exloration is one of those thigns that really brings the whole world together. It's humans versus the unknown. And since the space race, we've always collaborated with other nations.

You feel that we could be building something of greater value. You feel that it is important for us to look around and consider where we are coming from.

Well....what do you think the whole point of space exploration is? Look, we just happen to exist and I can't see a better goal for humanity than attempting to increase our knowledge of the universe and our own creation. Knowledge is so much more valuable than your new khakis. And that means science and space exploration.
