This is freaky because this is the film I was thinking of "before" I clicked on your link and read the description. I'm not kidding. Very weird.
It's also the film I was trying to identify about six months ago. It's a French film starring William Holden called _Arbre de Noël, L'_ (1969) aka "The Christmas Tree"

(Seriously, I searched this out on IMDB about six months ago. And the reason I started looking for it was because I saw the A2K film section and wondered if there was a film I could not identify which I could post a request for. But before I posted the request on this forum, I ended up finding the film on IMDB. Now in the wildest of coincidences, you have posted the request for the same (very obscure) film I was originally thinking of. I need to go buy a lottery ticket or something, this is too weird.)
