Do Ants Ever Die?

Nope! I can't even drown Pharoah's army. They just keep marching across my counter top in defiance of all manmade contraptions.

If England had a queen like the one in my "Antie Hill". that little island would never have to worry about the line of succesion. Laughing

Anyone have any idea about how to get rid of Pharoah ants?

Letty, there is something you can use that doesn't kill the ants but sends them away.

I know, sounds impossible.

The product is manufactured in China, and sold from Chinese/American stores. Course, can't think of the name now <surprise> but I've used the product.

It's a white stick <looks like school chalk> and ya draw a line where the ants enter the house and "poof" they all disappear.

Course, if your ants are invading riding little ant horses, more than one application needed Laughing

Thanks, stradee/omm. Razz nice runnin in to you on the sidewalks of A2K.

I'll see if I can find that chalk. (surely a teacher can do that)

Incidentally, if they were red ants, they would be riding little horses. Laughing
On each one would be sitting Charlton Heston with his magic staff.

Ah, the world of FX where anything can be done.

Seems as though Pharoah Ants are tougher than your average ants. This link might be of interest:

Thanks for the link, fishin'. and I thought the cock roach would inherit the earth. Sad

They seem to be coming in around my wall socket to which my fridge is plugged. (inside wall)

Wonder if those suckers have any natural enemies. (carpenter ants, maybe) Laughing

Yes. Ants do die. But before death, they enjoy a healthy and PRODUCTIVE sexlife. Rolling Eyes

If the ants are riding horses, won't the horses jump over the white line?

Letty,

Besides getting a pet anteater there are a few good solutions.

The chalk works (I just rid myself, actually my apartment, of ants this way).

And there is also a product that comes in an enclosed tray (for safety) it contains pellets that the ants carry off to their nest and that can take out the whole nest. I have seen this in many countries and here in the US I know that Raid sells it.

Good meeting ya here also!

An interesting fact : An ant can lift 50 times his own weight can pull 30 times his own weight and always falls over on his right side when intoxicated.

(From drinking little bottles of ?... Our tax dollars at work)

No mention of female ants. They're probably maintaining the stables Very Happy

The female ants are , in fact, the workers. ALL of the workers are female - but sterile. The boys just hang around doing nothing waiting for a mating flight. The fertile boys and girls only get created at certain times,

Letty - the soldiers are goils too.

We have a sticky liquid here - called Rid - that you put out, and they all come and guzzle 'til their little tumblies have golden bars - which is the Rid showing between their chitin tummy plates - than they go back to the nest and share their communal tummy-fuls with their sisters and the queen - and they die. Have to watch out for pets, though.

Poor li'l things - I feel so mean.

Talcum powder is supposed to inhibit them too - and try continuing to wipe away their scent trails with a wet cloth and cleaning product - the scout ants have to make new ones, and it seems to get tiresome for them.

Thanks, all. For the grins and the grimaces. Yikes...No wonder Thoreau didn't need TV or computers to survive at the pond. He just watched the ants.

Let's see now...Raid...sticky paper...ant farms...chalk...magniflying glasses...Hey...I gotta go to the mall. grrrrrrrrr.
