ESPN reporter Jayson Stark suggests 25 potential rule changes in Major League Baseball, from using instant replay to banning thunder stix.
What do you think of these possible rule changes? What are some changes you would propose? I'll list the rule changes in the first reply, but if you want the details about 'em, you'll need to read the article.
Use instant replay
Stay in the batter's box
Establish visiting hours for managers and pitching coaches to go to the mound
Toughen up the save rule
Ban the fake-to-third, throw-to-first move
Three pickoffs and you're done
Limit a team to five relief pitchers per nine-inning game
When no one is on base, a relief pitcher should have to face a minimum of two hitters instead of just one
Shrink the September roster to 30 -- tops.
Unify the stat numbers, and stop keeping separate stats for the two leagues
Make the waiver system more like the draft
Erase the runner's box
Define the true meaning of a sacrifice fly
Dump the designated pinch-runner
But add the designated fielder
Ban all body armor
Invent the "team" error
Enforce the batter's box
The phantom tag of second base on a double play must go
No more Saturday night games
No more out-of-the-baseline rule
Farm out the Brewers
If a team has three consecutive losing seasons, it loses 50 percent of its revenue-sharing payout and all of its welfare check from the luxury-tax pool until it gets above .500 again
Make fan interference legal
Ban Thunder Stix
