Edit [Moderator]: Moved from Poetry to Original Writing.
Lately (last couple of days) I have been having extreme intense feelings, and I need to express them somehow, because I want to think about something else. Any ideas on how to write strong feelings, that are driving me crazy?
Howdy
I too felt the same way before I took a writing class back East (I'm in Calif).
The first thing the instructor made us do is...
get a piece of paper (or tablet if you think you may need it), a pen and sit down to write.
then...write WHATEVER....do NOT worry about punctuation, spelling, style...nothing...just write until you feel empty.
Then....put it away...go have a cup of coffee, tea, whatever.
Come back and read what you wrote.
It is NOT necessary to criticize yourself for grammer, etc. It is only the FEELING of focusing (read : "training"...) between your mind and the pen and paper.
IF you make sense out of what you wrote, (I know I did not) then take a separate tablet and start to modify it unto clarity that will please you.
Then...when you think you have the ability (by the above exercise) to put down your thoughts in a logical, rational yet complete manner, you are on your way to expressing your inner self.
Good luck.
Peace be with you.
Truemale
Dux, Welcome to A2K. Oh, yes, my friend. I have several good ideas, and truemale has expressed some of them.
what truemale said is what i do most of the time... its odd, i will be sitting around the house, driving or what ever and these feelings will be with me. i stop find something to write on and let my emotions flow. sometimes its coherient, sometimes its jibberish. it's well worth it. for the moments of coherientness give you a great feeling of pride, and you also release what ever tension you had
Let's try an experiment, shall we?
Anyone here write one line that exposes the bare feeling of what you are thinking:
Listening in the dark of me
shadows lie in wait for the right moment
Clinging and feeling the intensity of the time
I like Letty's idea here.
The heart has four chambers
my love is like a shower upon your body
each spray filling every chamber
(ok, Dux. try it)
delicate poetic whispers are heard from each post
Sliding through the gossamer,
Of memories held so close.
Being far from heaven...it is closer than my next breath.
Sweeping o'er the planet
With a sweet refrain of rest.
Sitting on the edge of things,
And hearing birds in slumber
Night has fallen
as stars sing a moonless lullaby
silence is a golden promise
as the tide repeats its divine constitution
preparing the universe
for yet another blessed day
WOW! Sorry. Didn't mean to break the flow, but colorbook that was truly awesome!
I was continuing from you Letty...you sent forth great inspiration
