TRANSPARENCY HELP

Edit [Moderator]: Moved from General to Computers.

I want to know how the heck do I take off the white background off a picture..
Everytime I load a picture for example an oval, instead of just showing the oval, it also shows the white rectangle in the background.

I tried almost everything to eliminate it. In Photodraw, it has a transparency function but when I use it, instead of eleminating the white background, it also eliminates the picture!

Can anybody help me to take that bothersome white rectangular background? Crying or Very sad

A GIF file or PNG file can support transparency.

The GIMP for windows is a good tool for that, assuming you're using windows, and the paintshop pro evaluation versions will do it pretty easily too.. A program call GIF Construction set is another.. it's for animations but it supports transparency in stills too.
