Who are the greatest heroes in your lifetime?

@Fil Albuquerque,
If these people were here claiming to be heroes, you'd have a point.

Your post reflects irritation that some people admire other people. That's difficult to understand, but to each his own.

I think it's healthy to have our own goals of achievement not restricted by or measured by what others have achieved; however, where's the problem with acknowledging what you consider to be great achievement in others?

@Lash,
I admire a great deal of people for what they are. I just happen to think they didn't have any choice. I admire the beauty of how they are. And yes if I had to chose a hero for reference the anti-hero humble character of a mind enlightened enough to dismiss its own self-importance would be my reference.

@farmerman,
You'll note I didn't disparage her, I disparaged a few of the people she says she admires.

This is a forum for discussion (debate?) isn't it?

(Oh I may have gone over board with Sanders)

@edgarblythe,
And you know I was just about to post something (in another thread) praising you for being one of the most consistent thinkers in this forum.

Unfortunately, you are also consistently a nasty old fart as well.

@McGentrix,
An anti-hero sort of hero fits the bill. She is humble and adorable. A great human being!

@Fil Albuquerque,
Yes! My husband and I had good seats at a comedy club when she was just starting to be successful in the Hollywood scene. We might have been in the second row right in front of her. Or third. If I recall, the club wasn't all that large. I remember being scared she would call on me, because I already knew she is smart and funny (I used to read the Hollywood trades back then) and I still was a quite a shy violet.

@glitterbag,
You can't imagine how gratifying it is to have someone use a quote of mine in their signature line.

Clearly you never understand what I write, but the knowledge that I am so deep in your head is very pleasing. Cool
